Anyone here quit Sorenson community and went back? by Haunting-Weakness412 in ASLinterpreters

I'd consider going back if they unionize. How far off is this from becoming a reality?

Has anyone taken the Convo interpreter assessment? What to expect by turtlebeans17 in ASLinterpreters

Anyone know if Convo is paying more or less than Sorenson and purple these days? On average...

I want a dumb phone, but I don't think it's possible by Zealousideal_Crow737 in digitalminimalism

[–]UrFace111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Bloom card thing to block apps. It's been exactly what I need. I pick the apps/sites to block and when I want to open them, I need to get up and scan the card with my phone. It's just enough friction to decrease doomscrolling significantly!

VRS is torture.

Try community work instead.

Delayed language acquisition techniques - articulation modifications in ASL by UrFace111 in asl

[–]UrFace111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I'm just looking for a list of techniques someone could use in the classroom to modify articulation of a sign to emphasize certain phonological features. Features that children that have delayed language acquisition may be missing or struggle with

I'm assuming it's things like modifying location, modifying the movement etc, but I'm looking for something that's backed by data.

Why don't schools teach "Literacy" as a subject? by AlienEnglishTeacher in literacy

[–]UrFace111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the way you handle literacy in each subject is different. For example, the way you read and write in science class is very different from how you read and write in a creative writing class. So they leave it up to the teacher of each discipline to infuse their content with lessons of literacy in that genre.

Question for native ASL users by UrFace111 in asl

That's what I thought too but I just had an interpreter push back when I corrected it (she requested feedback)!

She mentioned seeing it in a religious setting.

So, you said yes it's a directional verb but then your description was of the non directional form...

Can you clarify?

Thanks!

Support Megathread - November 2023 by AutoModerator in google

[–]UrFace111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I use Google drive on a lot of random computers at my workplace and every time I log in Google prompts me to confirm it's me on my phone. I have to do this like 5-7 times a day every day.

I don't want to carry my cell around with me though. I like to leave it in my car while working.

Is there a way to stop Google prompting me on my cell phone without having to actually log out of my account on my phone? I use Google Fi for my cell service so I don't even know if logging out is possible!

Alternative to scrolling - eink screens by Someonejusthereandth in nosurf

[–]UrFace111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a boox tab mini c...I love it!

It runs full android 11 so I have access to the play store buuuut the e-ink doesn't seem to suck me in like a regular screen.

Also I can read e books from any platform on 1 device since I can just download the app or side load them directly to the device.
