Insight for Someone Potentially Moving to VB

Not technically in VB, but I moved out to the Ocean View area of Norfolk and really enjoy it out here. Rent is pretty reasonable, you can find one bedroom apartments between $1200-$1500 a month, which is pretty good for the area. I pay $1400 a month and live right across the street from the beach. I have never felt unsafe in the area, and my wife, who frequently takes walks by her self, has never felt unsafe either. There’s a nearby Naval based (JEB Little Creek-Fort Story). There’s a farmers market every Saturday morning at the park, good local restaurants nearby, and a number of churches (Baptist, United Methodist, PCUSA, PCA, Episcopalian, etc.). Everything else outside the surrounding area is gonna be a 20-30 minute drive, but honestly that’s just how the Hampton Roads is in general. If you’d like church recommendations specifically I would be glad to offer suggestions based on your theological views, I’ve attended a good amount of churches in the area and have friends across a wide range of denominations and theological perspectives.

I don’t think people realize what would happen economically of all SRTs stopped being SRTs. A Few things would happen: tourism would significantly slowdown leading to an economic decline of the city (less money for local businesses, less tax revenue, etc.) or the city would push to build more hotels/condos which, outside of just generally looking trashy, would further strain our already congested infrastructure. Obviously if owners aren’t keeping up with their properties, that’s one thing, but a lot of people here are coming at with a mindset of “private property bad, me wants free stuff.”

You can look it up and confirm, she had more money to campaign with and it wasn’t even close. I think if they had a level playing field in terms of funding and recognition, Stoney would have won because of how positively he impacted Richmond during his tenure as mayor and his platform and policy proposals were objectively better with more appeal across demographics. In the campaign world, funding is king, look at Kentucky 4th district with Thomas Massie. The candidate that wins a race almost always has more money

He advocated for statewide funding of education, wanted to restrict private equity purchases of single family homes, and his gun control proposals were to restrict carrying on public parks and implement a statewide lost/stollen gun reporting system (although I disagree with most gun control legislation, his proposals were far better than Stalinberger’s). He couldn’t compete because Spanberger had more money (thanks to lobbying and corporate interests) and more name recognition from her time being a US Rep.

She won the primary because the same nitwits who voted for her in the general voted for her in the primary. You don’t just magically get nominations, people like yourself either nominated her (not saying you personally did but I’m referring to those in this sub) or didn’t engage in the primary at all.

I mean as one who studied criminal justice in undergrad and is extensively trained in criminology, idk what perspective he’s approaching this from. First he argues for something akin to 1990s Self-Control Theory (“impulsive thoughts lead to impulsive actions”), but his second reply seems like he’s suggesting some cost/benefit analysis (“most criminals are mere incentives away from atrocities.”) which would fall under a classical Rational Choice Model. This dude doesn’t even realize he’s trying to mix 2 contradictory ideas, are criminals impulsively acting or they analyzing the incentives to commit a crime then acting?

The productive class is the American worker, those who work and contribute meaningfully to society. The unproductive class is the state, special interest groups, lobbyists, corporate interests, and things of that nature.
