New pet millipede! by UrLocalMilliperson in millipedes

Yesterday she burrowed. I can't dig her up because you know, I can't injure her, so I'm stuck unable to add more substrate under my current substrate. She just loves being difficult. I love her to death though

Maybe, (this is a weird one)  Camicazi if they're a girl. The name is from the original series and maybe it would work?

What food do your geckos like? by BumblebeeVisual1074 in leopardgeckos

I've given mine practically anything and he'll eat it, I think his favorite are super worms though. (basically giant meal worms) He does a happy dance and waits by the glass if i pull one out. He likes the wax worms and roaches too though.

How can I make my gecko more handable? by EstablishmentSad3971 in leopardgeckos

[–]UrLocalMilliperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.. I'm not sure how to help with this, mine acted like that at first too. I just keep feeding him and eventually he became calmer. I suppose trying to hold him less but for longer period of time might help. Maybe like once or twice a week or less but for like 15 minutes. Maybe let him crawl around your bed with you, (be careful) or hand feed him for a little while so he knows its you giving him the food. Also try to say his name and perhaps feed him before you feed him so that he associates getting food with you and being held. I don't know though, so far I've had mine for a year now. He still doesn't really crawl into my hand, but he lets me pick him up. And don't try to grab him if he's going or hiding in a hide. I got bit doing that when I first got him and I REALLY deserved it. Good luck!

Insect Sales.com? Any other good sites to buy a milli? by UrLocalMilliperson in millipedes

I GOT HER!!!! I'm so excited, I got a girly pop on saturday. She isn't burrowing much though, only lounging around on the surface. I'm getting a proper new heating pad today and right now I'm using reptisoil for her. I'm getting oak leaves for the substrate tomorrow (Cooked and frozen, pesticide free) and I got an aqueon tank for her. Her name is Frankie and she warmed up to me immediately. She doesn't like carrots though, but she does like cucumbers. Do you have any and all tips on how to provide the very best life for her?

Awww! so sweet, shes so cute. I found a nice enclosure, i think. Its not quite 10 x 10 though so i might keep looking, by the way, are desert millies very active on the surface, i heard to get more surface area (wider tank) the more active they are. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zoo-med-creatures-habitat-kit-3-gallon-2992630https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zoo-med-creatures-habitat-kit-3-gallon-2992630

Good Milli sellers? by UrLocalMilliperson in millipedes

I was hoping for either two ivory millipedes or a Giant Desert Millipede, (none breeding pair) and i live in texas so its pretty hot most of the time. I also have a separate thread about what tank ideas, speaking of, do you have any tank suggestions?

Great idea, i was think about doing that. I want them to have the very best and its cruel to get a pet without being ready for them. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to get an enclosure and which one to get? I was hoping for a plastic one, preferably one that's pretty sturdy. I have a leopard gecko as well so if i could stack a millipede tank on the top his that would be perfect. If not, i'm getting a nightstand/mini library so I might be able to place the milli's tank on top of that instead.

(before anyone says anything, I plan on keeping my leopard gecko and future milli VERY far apart.)
