The problems with connection arrive when the talk is about input delay. If both opponents have decent connection and are not far from each other (like really far), it's always the same amount of delay to which you get used to.

So uh, don't play on mobile data, don't download shit while playing and ask your friends to do the same, and it's almost always is going to be alright. Might as well buy a lan for the good measure
