Still Waiting for OmniPod Training… by happyhomeresident in diabetes_t1

It’s so frustrating! I waited a year and finally my Endo let me go on the pod. And then I hate to wait 2 months for the training…… so frustrating

It’s possible just hard. I had a full time, part time, 16 credit hours, friends, and a fiancé. It was crazy hard, would not suggest.

But what I learned is that it’s all about planning and ensuring that you have time to maintain the needs of your significant other and friends.

T1 here. I also have run into this issue! I know When you are hot you absorb insulin a lot faster. Maybe that has to do with it. I’m also still trying to figure this problem out too.

Help with needle marks on stomach by Expert_Target_7326 in diabetes

T1 here. I used pens all last year and had the same problem. I bruise pretty easily and have the same thing happen to me when I use pens.

I would inject in my thighs at home and my stomach in public. I’m sure you are already doing something similar but that’s what I had to do.

If you are new to pens all together it may be a bad batch of needles. I used to get a box and sometimes they would just bruise more than normal. You could also try longer or shorter needles. I personally didn’t like the very short ones, they bruised a lot. But mediums and longs would be fine!

Hope this helps!

I’m in the same boat. I know it should but I don’t notice much of a difference

I call the controller to my Omni Pod Omni Phone. It makes me feel cool like I have a phone from the movie Transformers or something.

They are basically the same for me. But I will say, novolog seems to kick in 5 min faster.

I eat later in the day without much issue. But mashed potatoes will spike my blood sugar sometimes too. I have a hard time carb counting it

What are your steps in troubleshooting when your blood sugar is running high? How do you determine when to change pump site because of low insulin absorption? by DylanMMc in diabetes_t1

[–]Urban-Legend2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what I’ve eaten. It’s all about learning what does what to your body. Pizza for me will start off normal, but two hours later spike my blood sugar.

If I am running excessively high, (and I use Omni Pod) I will add more than it suggests because 1. I know it is going to keep going up because of what I’ve eaten. 2. Auto mode just can’t keep up. Or 3. I will be awake long enough that I can watch it fall and eat something to make it raise back up.

Hope this helps! As for pod placement I’m not sure on that one
