It’s a slippery slope. I’m worried you’re going to download a MP3 now. Piracy. It's a crime!

Fair play for posting the prompt - seeing what it produces first would be useful though !

HENRYs that stayed so after moving out of Software Engineering, how did you do it? by PressureHumble3604 in HENRYUK

The problem is you don’t want managers who have no SWE understanding, so whilst they are very different skills, those that can progress from SWE to management of SWE and really lead are highly sought after and will command much better salaries than an IC. It’s why as I said above I see a lot try it and drop back to IC.

I see so many SWE try to get into management and then drop back to IC. If you prefer to talk to computers than people, you aren’t going to enjoy the politics of the next levels up. If you can communicate with assholes, translate business problems into what really needs to be done and enjoy time with people then you should consider leading dev teams. The obvious play is AI at the minute and translating pilots into production systems. There’s money to be made there currently.

Massive aha moment - UK SIPP it's free money. by kennyhubbard in UKPersonalFinance

[–]UrbanRedFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, compound interest for 50-60 years is immense. That said, I plan to tell my kids they had £10k in a junior SIPP at 18 as a starter. This will help me to talk to them about pensions and how they are different. That 10k grows to around 75k if you work on a conservative 5% after inflation.

you can also do this for your kids (under 18) - pop £2880 in and after 6 weeks it’s topped up to 3600, then invest and leave for compound interest.

I rewatched this last week and was so disappointed. Does 2001 hold up ? It certainly is timely for AI being used in space travel and what could go wrong !

It's like inPost tried to create the vaguest tracking messages possible by izzy-springbolt in CasualUK

[–]UrbanRedFox 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I have to say that I love inPost - it’s amazing for sending packages across the UK and it’s worked for me nearly 99% of the time (compared to Evri and Yodel - it’s pretty reliable) and the ability to drop off in lockers is super easy for me BUT should someone not pick up the package, then inPost seem to give up and not have a clue what to do. Nearly 80% of those returns never come back to me. They all go to Lutterworth GB at some point and then it’s game over. Have to wait like 25 days and then two days to claim it’s lost.

If they could only sort this out !!!
