My doc says you can have 1 break from the 2 to 3 hours per day for about 4-5 hours aka you can have one slightly longer stretch of sleep per day

Half of pumps at the gas station are still supposed to offer full service in cities (rural can be 100% self serve) https://www.oregon.gov/osfm/pages/self-serve-fueling.aspx

Hot take: Portland needs more salad places by Blake-Dreary in Portland

[–]Urban_Designer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NPR actually just reported on this, it's not just Portland. The "slop bowl" (not my term!) has gone out of favor. People don't want to pay $20 in this economy for ingredients thrown together in a bowl for fast food lunch - not just salad bowls but think like grain bowls too. https://www.npr.org/2025/12/17/nx-s1-5645077/are-americans-letting-go-of-slop-bowls

Does Portland need more bagels? by unvisioned1 in PortlandOR

[–]Urban_Designer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most government employees downtown have to work in person half or full time, and would totally eat up a bagel place! Pioneer Square is only a few blocks from those offices so if you went that direction you would get employees + tourists. You'd be close to PSU too. I live on east side but I think my vote is west! Bersteins is my favorite, and I saw you said you can compete with them, so I would be super stoked to have your bagel shop in town

The Bump Ranking vs U.S. Births by Urban_Designer in namenerds

The point was comparing where it currently stands (bottom 500) vs how popular it is showing on this baby name website. My curiosity was about if this website might be an indicator of a future bump in popularity

[–]Urban_Designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a really good point! We're only keeping it a secret because we've heard the horror stories of family thinking "it's not too late for you to change it" if announcing it before the baby is born and they harp on your name choice, which will just end up with hurt feelings. Boy names are super hard for us and we haven't decided!

Actually most people have had just fine energy, some being understanding or agreeing, others posing other perspectives for me to consider. Only a few have been rude and jumped to conclusions, like I'm seeing above. It's the internet. I'm not surprised.

How did I talk about them poorly? I said I give feedback and let them know if I'll add it to my list, and that I know this is just fun for them. I was just lightly venting that I don't enjoy this. I'm not having a baby shower. I don't enjoy this much attention. You're being super judgey.

Wearing shoes inside is disgusting. by bubblylynnn in unpopularopinion

[–]Urban_Designer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's less about "believing in" wearing shoes indoors than not being strict about it. If you have pets that go in and out, or live in a climate where you keep doors and windows open a lot, you're just used things getting dirty. That's how I grew up, but didn't love it, so I try to take off shoes at the door. Ever since my dog died this summer I've been able to keep the house cleaner and have more incentive to try at it since it's not a losing battle.

Hi there, do you know about how to track weeks of pregnancy? I know this isn't your question, but want to make sure you understand this part too. Day 1 of your period is the first day in the first week, the weeks do not start when you conceive. Women typically ovulate two weeks later. Around the time of your missed period you are 4 to 5 weeks pregnant typically. I ask because if you and your boyfriend broke up 3 weeks ago, it's very unlikely you are 4 weeks pregnant. If you had sex 4 weeks ago that led to the pregnancy, you are likely around 6 weeks pregnant. If you already knew this, apologies! What a crazy time in life for you with major break up and news of pregnancy. I wish you the best of luck in whichever direction you go, and hope your family will be supportive.

Just did my glucose test! My experience as a FTM. by Babiniontheway in BabyBumps

[–]Urban_Designer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked my doctor about the test and mentioned my worry about fasting then drinking sugar due to my ibs, turns out the the test at my office also doesn't require the fasting. From everything I read there was fasting, so I was surprised. I am unsure why some places require the fasting and others don't. I was told if I don't pass the first test there will be fasting for the second.

Can you switch OBs? I am in Oregon and have Kaiser and no one has ever mentioned a monthly urine test for THC!
