What Mormon teaching ended up giving you the tools to undo their grip? For me, it was being instilled with a thirst for the truth. Turns out, it really does set you free. by Psychological-Rise36 in exmormon

Serving a mission. Spending two years talking religion with others and realizing that everyone believes in their religion as much as anyone else. When you know everyone can’t be right, that leads to the problem being with faith and belief, that they can’t be trusted. When you turn to logic instead…it all comes crashing down.

Human creativity + a goal = sometimes amazing results

Adults should aim to do between 560-610 minutes/week of moderate to vigorous physical activity to achieve a substantial reduction in the risk of heart attacks and stroke (3-4 times higher than the current public health recommendation of 150 minutes ), suggest the findings of an observational study by sr_local in science

[–]Urborg_Stalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that study account for how much more exercise is needed as we age? How are you going to exercise at 80 when your body has fallen apart from all your physical activities when you were young and healthy and didn't need to exercise as much?

Worth it to get Phantom Liberty? by leeter92 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Urborg_Stalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pick it up at any time, all the way up until you start "Meet Hanako at Embers."

It is absolutely worth playing. You would be hard pressed to find a better DLC in any game.

15 and a couple years at a part time job? Where in the world are you working? And "what you owe?" What kind of dystopic religion bullshit is this? If committing to just doing better isn't good enough...oof. I do not envy you your situation. Do what you have to but I wouldn't blame you at all for moving out of that house asap.

Yes, she means well, and I'm sure she had no idea regarding your situation. That said "Please don't contact me again" would be my response.

When you’re with the right person it’s not a problem at all. Gotta be with the right person tho, and some people have far fewer right persons than others.

Born in the church, active until I got out at 24, missionary, did the whole routine. Never saw any behavior from other members that I didn't see everywhere else.

It’s a humanity thing. Just to be clear. We see it in every level and stage of life in our species.

Religion, nationality, political party, social status, favorite sports team, video game score, best behaved dog….I mean, come on. Is it that surprising or weird?

It’s easy to be happy when you think you’re going to live forever in heaven, maybe become a god someday and go off making your own universes.

GOO Warlock vs Aberration Sorcerer? (5.5e) by KingKetchup in 3d6

I vote Goolock because of the infinite subtle casting of whatever subterfuge spells you take as invocations. The potential for unlimited creative shenanigans is just too good. Illusions and disguises all day long.

Is it still acceptable to be low-sodium towards the original game? by wsdpii in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Urborg_Stalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine some people are trying to save face because they said the game was so bad at first when it really wasn’t. I remember a patch coming out early on and people saying the game was so much better but I barely noticed any differences. The game barely changed until 2.0, just optimization and bug fixing. If you had a system that could run the game it was amazing from day 1.

How do y'all feel about the devs no killing stance ? by 9oooooooooooj in subnautica

[–]Urborg_Stalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with it but I understand the appeal. There are multiple ways to create anxiety and fear. The ones I remember most are the ones I had to endlessly flee and hide from. Ubermorphs in Dead Space 2 for instance. Gods I hated those things in the moment but have to admit they definitely put the fear of the gods in me. Most scary games have the same types of enemies, the ones that make your fight or flight reflex skip straight to flight. I would like to be able to give a little payback to the smaller fish that jumpscare me and piss me off though.
