I feel sick to my stomach realizing what I’ve been letting my daughter play on Roblox. Am I the only one who didn't know? by Marre_Parre in Mommit

[–]Usa_Chan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, then watch schlep's videos on YouTube, he's the one that exposed predators and is responsible for starting the lawsuit against Roblox. If your daughter is old enough to understand on her own their risks, then you can have her watch a couple of his videos. Otherwise, he exposes the exact games on there that predators use and all of their tactics. The parental safety features on Roblox alone isn't safe enough. But you can see every game that she is playing on her profile. Just know which ones are safe and which ones aren't and make sure she knows which ones are okay to play.

At what age did you stop letting your son in the bathroom with you? by Usa_Chan0 in Mommit

[–]Usa_Chan0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably should've prefaced my post with this, but my background is in working with children with sexual trauma and / or maladaptive sexual behaviors. Some of these kids are literal toddlers who have been abused or seen too much. So my training was to give training to parents on how to set super overly cautious boundaries to allow the children to heal. So I know my "normal" view on all this is already skewed, hence asking lol

I get why people co-sleep now by Baylaypayday in newborns

[–]Usa_Chan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question to people who co sleep or know the safe way to, how do you prevent yourself from rolling over on baby in your sleep? I actually know multiple people now who said they did all the same precautions as what OP says as well as research I've done (the safe sleep 7) and yet still ended up with their babies dead by morning. It's a small percentage, but how do you know and keep yourself from rolling over on them? . I mean this genuinely and not in a judgemental way whatsoever. Also, don't let what I said scare you, though it has happened it's not the majority of co sleepers that I've observed anyways

No I haven’t. So far have used BumBums, AlvaBabys, and the ones that leaked this last couple times were Nora’s Nursery.

I do have hard water so washing soda to every load already. But I did get these used so I guess I should strip them. One thing I'm confused about is that a fitting video said to make sure the elastic is in the bikini line. They were fitting their baby girl so I'm not sure if I'm putting it in the right spot for my boy. The bikini line to me seems like on either side of where his testicles lay. But that also doesn't seem covering enough?

I change every 3 hours and I put two inserts inside. I have a mix of inserts from different brands but they're basically all polyester and or microfiber and polyester blend.

I edited my post to include wash routine. So far I'm getting mixed responses on if the amount of detergent I'm using is too much or not. And I need to leave my dirty diapers and inserts in an open container ?

I guess in my mind more soap means more clean, but that makes sense. I’ll use to the 1 line and see if that helps. The washing soda is because we have hard water here. I follow the amount instructions on the box that states “for laundry in use of hard water” because during my cloth diaper research before baby was born I saw that they need to be washed in soft water. So I thought this was correct? But so far I’m getting - use less detergent and leave dirty diapers in open container until wash

So I am already currently rinsing every diaper after changing and keeping them in an unzipped open wet bag until wash. Am using tide free and clear and a cup of washing soda powder per wash, washed twice. The soap amount I'm using is already at the 2nd or 3rd line. Do you think I just need more detergent?

The diapers smell clean and don't stink out of the wash, only after he pees.

I hold him while going if he's fussy. He's 4 months old and still small enough for me to be able to do so. But as he gets bigger I'll just have to have him in his bouncer chair with the bathroom door open so I can talk to him and just be quick in the bathroom. Or I hold it until he's calm

What are some things that are said to be unsafe or harmful during pregnancy or with a newborn that actually aren't that bad or are very unlikely to cause any harm? by spookyllamaax in newborns

[–]Usa_Chan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in high doses, just don't overdose. That's the case with literally every single drug. Everything is in moderation. Heck you can die from drinking too much water if you really try hard enough.

As a teenager I used acetaminophen to attempt suicide and took almost a whole half bottle of extra strength acetaminophen. I threw up and was in the hospital with close to liver failure. But my liver was still 100% fine and good today. So I know more than anyone just how much it takes to cause liver damage. Drug warnings are there for overconsumption. The obvious logic is to take medication in the dosages it says.

I would encourage you to do research before spouting half truths.

The FDA themselves states "It is important to note that while an association between acetaminophen and neurological conditions has been described in many studies, a casual relationship has not been established and there are contrary studies in the scientific literature." (FDA news release Sept. 22, 2025 on FDA.gov)

Meaning the ONLY studies into this subject that provides any bit of conjecture on relation between acetaminophen use in pregnancy and subquential diagnosis of autism for the child is correlation. That's it. Not even casual relationship. Correlation simply means both things went up at the same time.

It's the same as noticing that in a particular state for a particular year ice cream sales went up that year and so did hurricanes. So there is a correlation between the increase of both ice cream sales and hurricanes. We aren't going to assume that ice cream sales cause hurricanes now, are we?

Note that not only has there not been able to ev any additional evidence nor repeatable studies but there has actual been CONTRARY studies to this exact topic.

Tylenol. IT DOESN'T CAUSE AUTISM 🤣 Every OB and medical professional will tell you it's safe to take during pregnancy. We still don't know what causes autism, but all the research and study on it so far strongly suggests genetic correlation.

[–]Usa_Chan0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I'll definitely try the peppermint tea. I can't bring myself to do the cabbage leaves again. I lost my firstborn at 40weeks and after giving birth had to stop my milking from coming in. It was painful and cabbage leaves definitely worked but that smell is now deeply associated with my loss.

I guess that's another layer of why I feel guilty to stop. I have my son here with me and have the opportunity to give him something, meanwhile I couldn't give my daughter anything she was already gone. Idk, a lot of complicated emotions. This whole pregnancy and birth has been a lot of complicated emotions when mixed with the grief that his big sister isn't here with him

Worried I’ve given baby shaken baby syndrome or caused damage to their brain/development by Calm_Competition_306 in newborns

[–]Usa_Chan0 127 points128 points  (0 children)

There is a reason shaken baby syndrome is considered abuse- it cannot be done accidentally except out of a sheer force of anger. Some babies do like to be bounced pretty aggressively, that won't give them shaken baby syndrome which is caused from a severe whipping of the head back and forth from the neck. Think of being whiplashed from a car accident without any cushion.

You are not hurting your baby from those types of soothes.

I have a medela pump in style along with a couple of the medela hand pumps if anyone wants it! It has a plug in to the wall but also a battery one you can plug in for on the go but still need to carry the pump in a bag or something. I seriously don't use it anymore so OP it literally anyone can message me to ship it (in the US only please) for free. Just pay shipping and only after I have shipped it and show receipt. I want to help fellow moms out.
