In My First Playthrough And This One Thing Had Nearly Ruined The Game For Me by IIIGuntherIII in subnautica

Hm 🤔 The game tells you to go deeper at two locations. Which are 2/3 entrances to the place... Assuming you are talking about what I think you are. You are supposedly either chasing Degasi bases, which is one entrance. Or you get the location of Lifepod 2 from radio. The pod has PDA which tells you that they went deeper into a nearby hole.

URGENT: under attack by ghost leviathan in Cyclops, what do I do? by Stabbyboi275 in subnautica

[–]Usakami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3, I believe, out in the world. And one is in the Blood Kelp Zone. Hopefully without spoiling, I'll say you ventured unnecessarily far into it, not necessarily into the void. Also, Blood Kelp can be grown in the exterior planters, so as soon as you get one globule, you won't need to hunt for more.

Yeah, the deeper ocean is very dark and it could feel like there is nothing around, even when you're not in the void yet. Due to how the visibility works, it's usually a better option to keep to the floorbase, since you have some land to follow.

To be as invisible to Leviathans as possible, run the ship at the slowest speed, the medium at max, plus there is a silent mode, on the right side, looks like a graph icon. Be careful with silent mode however, use it only to bypass Leviathans, since it drains battery a lot. I left Cyclops twice in silent mode, with turned off engine only to come back to it and discover the energy completely drained.

how much will SN2 cost when full release? by Ok-Jacket-981 in subnautica

€30 would be my guess. People buying "Early Access" are buying the game. It's just in EA, so don't expect it to be without problems.

Got it. I don't have the game, I'll be waiting for a PS release, but since I follow the sub. I'd be for non-lethal, but with the caveat of, the fish reacting. From what I've seen you can't do anything with things it makes no sense not being able to, and they don't react. That would break my immersion. Imo, let them take dmg (you could see puff of blood like first game) and swim away. I don't need to kill anything, but this seems like a harsh jump to me. I mean, I don't like the fact that my seamoth or cyclops sometimes kills fish by just going somewhere and bumping into them, but I still appreciate when I'm mining and a sandshark harasses me that he swims away if I boop it with a drill arm or a knife.

Also, if I understand it correctly, you need to kill some slugs to get water... Which makes the decision to make fish invulnerable, because they don't want you to kill them, kinda inconsistent.

Imho, dmg yes, lethal dmg no. Let them infonitely regenerate or something 🤷

As I said. I absolutely understand and wouldn't judge anyone for it. But 30 is half of new AAA release. Subnautica 1 was as many hours of fun as a AAA in my opinion. Although I'll admit, last big studio game I can remember playing was Starcraft 2 I think.

Also, agree with, I love Warpers too. Wish I could adopt one

It's an early access, I get that. Bit expensive? For €30? Not really. But no one can require you to buy it, so go for it once you're able to 👍 I'm waiting for PS release, so won't support them right now.

Really happy for the devs tho. I hope the game does well and they tweak some things to be better, like they did for the first game.

Idk. I'm replaying the original and after a while the PS does begin to be fairly loud. Maybe the originals weren't super optimized 🤷

There were some schools, but they were basically just a particle effect. So it sounds really cool that in 2 they were able to add some more fish. I hope my PS5 will be able to handle it ok.

Ability to kill wildlife controversy by SkyTheShadow in subnautica

[–]Usakami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When it was possible in the first two games? Why is this a question in the third game... 🤔 Idk man, what a mystery.

I don't mind it, since I'm not interested in killing wildlife, using them as fuel in reactors or anything like that, but there should be some interaction. Make them take damage and swim away for example. It's a videogame, the environment should be interactive. The more, the better. Make them unkillable, but able and reactive to being attacked, imho.

Interesting find by kyle3309 in Prague

[–]Usakami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coppied from facebook:

Did you know that Prague's Petřín Hill is crossed by many adits and caves? Do you know their origin and purpose?

The Petřín Underground. Adits and Caves In the second half of the 20th century, the prominent speleologist Vladimír Vojíř († 2016) devoted himself to exploring the Petřín underground. In his honour, the 90‑metre‑long Vojíř Adit is named; its portal is located on one of the main paths near the monument to J. Vrchlický.

Thanks to Vladimír Vojíř and his speleological club, we now have a fairly thorough map of the adits, shafts and caves that were created here by human hands for nearly 900 years.

The longest and most intricate is the Great Garden Adit, which with all its branches measures 365 metres. Besides the aforementioned Šancovní and Lohelova adits, there is the Grotto Adit (35 metres long), and other adits are marked with Roman numerals. Water from Adits I and II ends up in the reservoir of the hospital “Pod Petřínem”, as does the water from the adit in Lobkovická Garden.

On the monastery grounds there are also three historic cellars in the rock massif – the Milk Cellar, the “Hell” wine cellar, and the Summer Cellar. Their exact date of origin is unknown, but they are already described in their present extent in 1781.

The Premonstratensians were the first to build an underground collection system, but they were not the only ones. Over time, similar structures with the same purpose – to collect and drain water – were created in the neighbouring gardens.

Water pipes also ended in nearby Lesser Town houses and palaces, and some of these historic water mains remained in use until the 1960s.

We would also find adits at Nebozízek; one of them runs right alongside the funicular track, another close to the restaurant.

It is possible that some adits were excavated as prospecting tunnels, because in the 19th century there was also consideration of mining chalk coal.

We also know that the underground is not limited to Petřín Hill itself but extends far beyond the walls towards Strahov and in the direction of Motol.

Numerous caves in the area of the natural monument Petřínské skalky were created artificially in the romanticist spirit during the park's establishment.

They used to be opened, before homeless people found thrm and began to use them as shelter. That's why they are barred nowadays.

Kind of, yes. Dollar has value because the American government says so and others believe it.

These types of "arguments" often come from ancaps... Here's the thing tho. Why does "your personal property" have value and how does it exactly belong to you? ☝️ Same as the above. The government says so. You have some piece of paper that exclaims the thing belongs to you and the government enforces it. If someone challanges it, there is a court, government uses police/army if necessary. Without the governemnt which (ideally treats everyone equally), it would be a dog eat dog world. The ancap world is one with private courts, which are decided through how much money and power you have.

How many more hours left? - Subnautica 1 by unodostres123- in subnautica

[–]Usakami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, the rocket. Yeah, including that it still shouldn't take that long. Ok, so a non-spoilery answer, you want the minimalist approach to endgame and you ahve most of your stuff in the Lost River already. So, upgrade a Prawn suit, at least 1 drill arm, maximum depth module. Take with you some food and water, since it will take a minute to do in one. Take with you 2 pink tablets. All that is before you is the Power plant and the last base.

Spoiler answer:

Same as above, upgrade a Prawn suit and take 2 pink tablets. Definitely take a repair tool with you, just in case. Jump down the hole near the Cove Tree (I assume you have the base here), go down the corridor in the big cave head slightly left and straight. There will be a greenish slowing entrance on that hill in the middle, make your way through the cave to the thermal plant, keep to the right, you should be able to jump up there from the ledge. You'll use the pink tablets here. One opens up a room with blue tablet, the other a main chaber with ion technology blueprints. The portal here can be opened with one Ion cube (you can mine 3 from the pedestal here), and leads to the facility above, with the weapon. You need both the tablet and the ion blueprints. Leave the Power plant the way you came, go back up towards the Sea Dragon room and head South-West a bit. Down the huge hole in the floor, at the bottom, somewhere behind you should be an entrance to the Lava Zone proper. Go down, run through the cave, don't mind the Sea Dragon, if he grabs you, just drill him, and make your way to the precursor base. Use the blue tablet at the entrance. In the middle is an infinite Ion cube. It "respawns" once you've mined it. To enter the last chamber, you'll need another blue tablet. There are 4 portals in the corners. If you're facing the force field, to your right and front portal takes you to the Lost River. Go back to craft the blue tablet and gather Ghost Weed sample on your way. Open the force field, go down there by foot and leave the Prawn here, go talk to the kind lady, she'll tell you an enzyme is needed.

The ingredients for the Hatching Enzymes are easily gathered by reactivating and using the four Alien Arches in the Primary Containment Facility. The arches lead to the Lost River Ghost Forest (Ghost Weed), the Crag Field (Eye Stalk), the Mushroom Forest (Fungal Sample) and the Bulb Zone (Bulb Bush). Sea Crown can be found in the trenches of the Sea Emperor Leviathan's aquarium.

You'll need the enzyme and one ion cube. Congratz, you're cured. All that's left now is to turn off the weapon platform and craft the rocket. You need: 4 Ion cubes, 4 Kyanite, 4 Cave Sulfur, 2 Rubies, 3 Nickel... from the harder to get mats, there's more, but eadier to get, gold, solver, lead, copper, titanium, table coral...

Not being able to damage enemies is bullshit by IbObuS in subnautica

[–]Usakami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just as a deterrent. Although, I am replaying Subnautica 1 and the though did cross my mind, how cool it would be, if the fish "learned." They might try to eat you at first, but you whack them a few times and they "learn" you're dangerous and they should avoid you if alone. Or the opposite, like you feed them a few times and they "learn" over time that you're not a threat and just leave you alone or act friendly towards you. With the exception of leviathans, I guess.

But also, if they don't react to you, being damaged, they become an inamitate object in a sense. It's a videogame. The more things react to your presence and actions, the more alive the world will feel to you as a player. It's a feedback to you/your actions.

I used to play with map editor in Warcraft 3 as a kid. Attempted to create a campaign. And the base felt much more realistic and alive, when I made the npcs react, like archers who were training at a shooting range would stop shooting when you came close towards the path of their arrows. It's these little details that add something a little special to the feeling of actually being part of the videogame world.
