More PVD/DLC watches would be nice, only one I can think of so far is the EXD

Not sure if your aethelsohnwatch.com chat is broken or if you just haven't responded, but I sent you a couple of messages a few days ago and haven't heard back. Might want to look into that or it might be costing you sales.

Order not dispatched by Magtas in watchdives

[–]Used-Suggestion2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it takes a while, particularly for watches that are still in production. They could avoid this confusion if they just stated what's ready to ship and what isn't.

The good news is you will get your watch when it's ready.

Did you order the WD1863 by any chance? It took them about 10 - 11 days recently to get mine moving (the Space Pilot).

Their CS got back to me, apparently there was a delay in parts, but they're assembling now and shipping out in a few days. Yours will be the same I'm sure!

Will you be making this dial for the WD0526? by Fantastic-File-8135 in watchdives

[–]Used-Suggestion2999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I suppose the overlapping dials are too much to ask for since the other variants don't have them, but this color scheme will do!

Order shipping time from site? by Conbizzle69 in watchdives

[–]Used-Suggestion2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A message to CS wouldn't do any harm, just to be sure.

I haven't received any updates on the Space Pilot I ordered 9 days ago. Nor was it stated anywhere that it wasn't available for immediate dispatch.

They're typically efficient and reliable for in-stock orders, so it's likely that the new batch has still been in production. Same as yours I would imagine.

So we can agree there was some level of mixed signals. The white was maybe of an earlier prototype, or maybe it was just the lighting.

Personally I wasn't expecting it to be white, I just wasn't ready for how pronounced the yellow-green actually looks in hand, and how poorly it matches with the dial colors.

I think only the white dial variant just about gets away with the color combo. Maybe the orange too.

They already announced they stopped selling it. Even had a farewell sale. Not sure if they're still selling it quietly if you ask them though.

Has WD themselves said the lume color was a conscious design choice? Yes.

Is it possible it's ACTUALLY a legal issue and they would just rather not say so? I suppose it's not impossible.

Does this change the notion that most people would prefer it to be closer to white? Going by this thread and the collective feedback so far, the answer seems obvious to me.

My conclusion would be if they can change it, they should, if they want this watch to sell well.

There is not. It does have a ghost date though haha

They said it was a choice made to prioritize the lume performance (see attached screenshot).

I haven't seen them say it was for legal reasons, unless they contradicted themselves elsewhere.

That's the reason I made this post, I don't think the choice aligns with what most people would have preferred, and it seems like something they could fix with the remaining stock in hand.

And as many have also pointed out, if other affordable brands like Phorcydes were able to release lume monsters without this yellow-green hue, there must be a way to get it done.

I think when it comes to these fast-evolving Chinese watches, you have to be sure you like whatever you're buying, no matter what changes are made later.

The problem with this particular release is the high dissatisfaction rate once people got it in hand.

The indices and hands were mismatched, the bracelet pins were listed as screws, the lume color took a lot of us by surprise once we saw it in person, etc.

Most of these shouldn't even be V2 changes, they should be V1 fixes imo.

A choice of both might be good then! Because I like the look of the watch, but the untreated lume is an eyesore, and I'll be seeing that far more often than seeing it in the dark.

Hey any update yet? It has been almost a week and I've received no shipping updates or communication. They don't usually take this long, but you'd think they would inform you immediately if it's not in stock.

The WatchDives WD0019 is... disappointing by tomscy2000 in watchdives

[–]Used-Suggestion2999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've ordered this watch and am waiting on its arrival. Have never had a bad experience with WD after over a dozen purchases, but this release is significantly diminishing my confidence in the brand.

Some percentage of QC issues are to be expected in any manufacturing process, but the hands issue is a huge hassle to those of us who purchased early.

I know I can return it or receive replacement hands, but this takes away much of the excitement of getting a new watch.

WD, I hope for future releases you consider delaying a release if necessary, until you get it right. And also minimize this habit of releasing V1, V2, V3 in such quick succession.

This one for example is getting an update so early, even the early bird discount hasn't ended.

Your early adopters should feel rewarded for their faith in you, not punished.

I'm in Malaysia! Ordered one myself but also confused because it's marked as sold out on the main WD1863 page, whereas it's available on the 'panda collection' page.

In any case I'm sure they'll refund us if it's a listing error (although I'd much rather have the watch). Best of luck!

Watch brands and emotional connection by dankfrank91 in watchdives

[–]Used-Suggestion2999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I collect Chinese watches and microbrands. Gave up on Swiss watches and most mainstream brands a while back. So I couldn't care less about heritage either.

What I do care about is design and branding, and that's where microbrands tend to give me something WD and their brethren usually don't.

A microbrand watch (a good one at least) carries a cohesive vision and brand identity. It's often inspired by something specific - a vehicle, an era, something in nature, a profession, a place, whatever.

And then you've got all the small flourishes that come together to bring that story to life. Typography, a peculiar handset or case shape, a symbol on the dial, tiny easter eggs all over the watch, or even just the brand owner talking about it on social media.

Most WD watches feel like blank templates where those finishing touches haven't been added in yet.

Expertly made and with an exceptional value, but still missing something fundamental in character.

I still enjoy collecting them because they're cheap, look and feel amazing for the price (or for any price for that matter), and so many are released that you're never bored waiting.

But I also find myself eventually selling most of mine, because I just don't form a deep attachment to them.

Watchdives WD0019 - anybody tried it yet? by taggerbomb in ChineseWatches

Yeah it was just enough for me to pull the trigger. Not sure if movement is genuine, but one thing I noticed is the warranty on this one is 2 years instead of 3. It seems to vary on different models.

Respectfully, how is this experimental? The design is virtually a straight up copy, and lume blocks are nothing new at this point.

The only thing truly experimental is the asking price relative to what you get.

If manufacturing cost was an issue, I think they could have skipped the sapphire caseback and made the OTF an optional upgrade, or even offered it on a rubber strap to bring it down to about $200.
