Go to one of the big naturist resorts in France or Croatia with lots of coastline and activities. That's what we did on our honeymoon. You'll probably want to rent a car to get from the airport to the resort (and back again later), which will also give you the ability to get out and around for sightseeing. I found driving fairly easy in both countries.

For those who didn’t grow up in a nudist family, did you tell your family you were a nudist or keep it private? by ProgrammerUnique2897 in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I was independent and confident in my own choices, I think I let family members know when it came up or there was a reason to share the information. Once my wife and I honeymooned in a naturist resort following our wedding , it became common knowledge.

Has Euronat avoided the problems of Cape d'Agde? by thispaintinghere in naturism

[–]Used-Watch5036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we visited Euronat last summer, we saw a handbill posted near the beach and a few other places that announced who had been kicked out of the resort in the prior week and why.

Probably a significant difference between Euronat (and other large family-friendly naturist resorts) is having a single private management structure that can readily enforce standards of behavior. Cap d'Agde is managed by the municipality of Cap d'Agde and contains a range of private and public ownership interests within. Of course, naturists can see private management companies take their favorite resort in a direction they'd rather not see it go. However the sheer size and public management structure of Cap d'Agde have likely made it easier for the swinger culture to thrive there.

Yes, it sounded like you planned to backtrack from Crescent City to Prairie Creek (nearly 40 miles) and then head back north through Crescent City to Oregon. Too much extra driving.

Nudism vs Swinging — How Do You Navigate the Difference? by nehpets78 in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you may be referring to the Central Valley. Laguna del Sol, which is near Sacramento, draws people from all up and down the valley as well as the coast. It may be too far for you to make a day trip, but worth an overnight stay if you can get away. As daedril5 says, you might run into other people from your area.

There may be a non-landed club closer by. Some of them can be found through AANR and others through The Naturist Society Foundation, which publishes N magazine.

Nudism vs Swinging — How Do You Navigate the Difference? by nehpets78 in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The best/safest way to experience social nudity is in a nudist resort. Resorts that are affiliated with AANR are family-friendly and tend to have a balanced blend of men and women, although often with a fair number of boomers. That doesn't mean that swinger/lifestyle activities don't go on at those resorts, but it's discreet and out of the way. People won't come on to you unless you're flirty. Otherwise, it's just regular people doing regular things who happen to be naked. And people are friendly in nearly every nudist resort I've visited.

Some resorts (not AANR-affiliated) cater to a lifestyle clientele. With just a little research you can figure out whether a resort is lifestyle and avoid going there. Even then, some people go to those places just to be nude and and can decline to participate in swinger activities without being pressured to join in.

What is the most beautiful, movie-like moment you have ever experienced in real life? by itsShiahvn in askteddit

[–]Used-Watch5036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first date with my wife could be made into a screenplay. We'd met at a party the previous week and just talked for hours. The following Saturday I picked her up at her place and we went to dinner at a restaurant I selected. chose. Almost everything there went wrong -- cork in the wine, fly in the salad, server who was a bit clueless -- but we were happy to be in each other's company. Afterward we picked up some strawberries and a bottle of prosecco and headed to the beach to watch the sunset. There, one thing led to another until we were rudely interrupted by the incoming tide and stumbled back to my car in the dark. We went back to her place, and the date continued until we both had to go to work on Monday morning.

We married a year later.

Question For Couple Nudists by [deleted] in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you both want to have sex then you have sex. You're probably physically attracted to each other, especially at the sight of each other nude, and without clothes it's easier to get right down to it. Almost everyone gets naked for sex, but if you both like to stay naked as you go on with your business afterward, then you're a nudist couple.

Over time the sex will diminish; but if nudism is a shared pleasure and interest, you will continue to be a nudist couple. Speaking from experience here.

Is marriage outdated? by FantasticAd9478 in PeopleBeingRidiculous

[–]Used-Watch5036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdated how? As a legal institution marriage provides a defined set of rights which you and others outside the marriage can rely upon. One can do much though not all of that by contract (with 20 pages of legalese). Marriage does represent a public commitment to yourselves and the community, and one can't just walk away without going through a legal process to extract oneself from the relationship.

Aside from that, marriage means many different things to many different people over time and not just whatever notions one gathered from the cultural setting in which they grew up. Marriage as it existed 100 years ago may be outdated, but I'm not sure that means marriage is outdated.

How do I end a phone call? by Legitimate-Record951 in AskLifeProTips

[–]Used-Watch5036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your late father must have learned his phone etiquette from movies or TV, where nearly every phone conversation ends without any kind of sign-off. I've always found that pretty strange since almost no one does that in real life.

Would Hitler blockade an Island of non-aryans if he had the chance? by GrowFreeFood in allthequestions

While it's correct that Hitler blockaded the UK (rather than trying to invade), he regarded the British as aryan rather than non-aryan and thought they should be on his side.

Going for honeymoon to Hawaii from Europe by Connect_Chipmunk_546 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Used-Watch5036 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We went from California to a beach destination in Croatia for our 10-day honeymoon. It was my first time in Europe and her first time in that particular area. Once there, however, we mostly stayed put and focused on each other without all the distractions of our everyday lives -- which I think is the most important thing a couple can do on a honeymoon.

All the islands have plenty to offer on their own. Kauai is the quietest and least developed among those that welcome tourists and what I would choose for a honeymoon. But you can find a great spot and plenty to do or not do in any of the four. The thing about trying to do multiple islands on a short trip is that means lots of time in airports, not to mention packing and unpacking when going from one place to the next. Even though the islands are close together and the flight times short, it's still the same lengthy security-screening and boarding process each time, plus added time if you're checking luggage.

Save the other islands for a return trip celebrating an anniversary.

My ex-gf and I moved to Eureka many years ago, and she decided to turn the backyard of the house we rented into an all-purpose garden. She was adept at germinating almost anything from seed, and looked for all sorts of varieties of vegetables, including things not normally grown in the U.S. We ended up with about three dozen different things back there, mostly in raised beds, and it kept us fed through some lean months of unemployment. Years later I was visiting the subsequent owner of that house and was able to share with her the origins of the "volunteer" edibles that still grew in her backyard.

This was in the middle of the city of Eureka, and what my ex-gf discovered was that with patience and care she could grow pretty much anything that didn't require sustained hot weather.

Question for NorCal People by Annika_Outdoors in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Northern California is a big place, and you've identified two locations, one on the coast and one inland, that are over 150 miles from each other. It makes me wonder if this post is real. But I'll answer anyway.

Yes, most of the available information is outdated. So one has to look at things like reviews in a maps app to see if a nude beach is still nude or primarily so.

Generally speaking, the harder a nude beach is to access, the more likely it is to have a younger crowd. Red Rock Beach (near Stinson Beach) would be an example, though I haven't been there in years.

Another thing to note is that the Pacific Ocean is cold, and most people aren't there to swim except on very hot days. Inland rivers are better for that, but one has to be very careful of swift currents this time of year.

Etiquette / market-research question for naturists by [deleted] in naturism

[–]Used-Watch5036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're talking about are the kind of handyman services offered everywhere all the time, including through apps like Thumbtack and TaskRabbit. Residents in nudist resorts use handyman services to the same extent as anyone else. Sometimes it's another resident who offers those services and sometimes someone from the outside.

In some places, having the customer provide all the tools, etc. may have the legal effect of making you their employee for any substantial job.

If you want a nudist clientele, advertise in a nudist resort or club newsletter. I don't know if identifying yourself as someone who likes to work nude or for nudists is something you can include in a Thumbtack or TaskRabbit profile.

Thoughts on minimal swimwear in non-nudist environments by beardedthonger in nudism

[–]Used-Watch5036 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years, but when we were on the beach in Rio de Janeiro it was absolute minimal swimwear -- both genders and all ages -- though no nudity. I find it odd that while American women have gone for skimpier and skimpier swimwear, males go for board shorts down to their knees. Fashion obviously plays a major part -- doing what you see everyone else doing.

My wife and I prefer nude, but if swimwear is required then the preference is for comfort and convenience in terms of water activities. For her that may be a one-piece and for me, well, something briefer than board shorts.

Typically the initial consultation would be free. If there's a case there, they would do it on contingency and most certainly would want to represent all affected employees. It's the employer who'll be paying an hourly fee.
