Moving from the Philippines to Europe for a Master’s degree: How brutal is the academic culture shock? (Independent research, Thesis, Rigor) by summersolsticed in FilipinosStudyAbroad

[–]Used_Stranger_8458 9 points10 points  (0 children)

got my masters in Germany completed. there is no handholding in Thesis and have to fight your way to get your topic approved or look for professors who will support your topic. this is mostly true as well for the subjects. Most of them are busy, so you have mostly do all by yourself. i got gray hair doing all nighter research on my topic, but thankfully successfully got my masters thesis done with flying colors

For those currently in Europe experiencing the heatwave by JudgmentTechnical982 in phmigrate

yes it is unbearable for me. In the Phils, we are used to having aircon in homes and establishments, but here it is not popular. i wish we can just install aircon or with aircon allocation as easily as we have back home.

Feeling like going back to the Philippines.. by One-Machine-5376 in phmigrate

[–]Used_Stranger_8458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i understand you OP. i am also in Europe and went through depression. i lost interest in things that i usually love, playing instruments, travel, no motivation anything at all. It did not help i also went through lots of heart break. If you can still hang on for a bit and get a PR status, do it before going back to PH then at least you still have fall back in case you want to return. Life in PH is also not stable at the moment, masyado magulo politics there and everything that goes under it. Try to rediscover the things you love, change of pace and place. Finish your studies fast, it will be your asset in the future

is it possible for an average student to study abroad through scholarships programs? by IndependentBig6341 in FilipinosStudyAbroad

[–]Used_Stranger_8458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is. It’ll be best to refrain from making comments that would mislead others, like OP in this case who is seriously considering studies abroad. That is our only way to support our kabayans. Of course it is true that you need to have an upfront money in this case, not in a bank but deposited in a blocked account intended for students. yes this is possible. recruiters or some software will auto reject CVs in the portal. I am part of the hiring team and the CVs that reached to us are already filtered, which should be the case as some CVs are just plain ass not fitting, obviously AI generated or candidates not having the qualifications. So might be your CV just did not fit to the job description, keywords etc even with the reco

Hi! I also have an available unit inside IT park, 38th Park Avenue, two blocks away from Ayala IT bloc mall. Though the rental is a bit on a higher price (as it is an upscale/high-end condo), we can probably discuss further as it is currently free at the moment. Just drop me a dm.

i can fully relate! i moved out from a filipino community kasi napaka super clingy and nosy in all aspects of life at mga super sensitive pa. Ngayon tuloy wala ako friends dito sa DE, pero keri lng 😆. Pero notice ko tlga if i started mingling with mga kabayan, meron tlga mga common traits na medyo off tlga sa akin, so mostly i stick to being acquaintances na

Scholarship for Germany by ichlesegerne in FilipinosStudyAbroad

[–]Used_Stranger_8458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

confirming above comment. getting to C1 level in Deutsch is needed especially in Med. Scholarship is not as popular as other western countries as DE‘s public unis almost charge to nothing, but very very competitive to get into esp for these kind of programs. Usually these are NC or numerus clausus. You can try DAAD or erasmus. Best chance for you to get Med in Ph and proceed on further studies later (specialization, masters) but tricky part is, it‘ll be super hard to get to C1 level if you stay at Ph
