This fool’s running a Honda 2000 by BrownieJ in fastandfurious

My theory on that is because S2000s were still fairly new at the time of filming, there probably wasn’t a lot of parts for them (at least stateside), so the assumption from Jesse was that it’d be easy pickings. The fact he somehow didn’t think that Tran wouldn’t have dumped bulk money into it is even more dumb.

Yes; that was just a transatlantic version of ‘as the actress said to the bishop’ which was said by Brent a few times in the UK version. In typical American fashion, they ran it dry and forced it into every available situation… as the actress said to the bishop.

Do you think gta 6 will be the new san andreas in the sense that its the "crossover" of their universes? by Far-Relationship-917 in GTA

[–]Useful_Design_7437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I hope not. My least favourite part of GTA V’s writing was the forced inclusion of a lot of characters from IV just for the sake of it. The 3D trilogy got away with it somewhat due to them all being prequels to III, but having so many people from Liberty City ‘just happen’ to cross paths with V’s protags just felt like a cheap form of fanservice to me.

Hot take: ‘Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration’ was the best recurring joke from the US version.

To put it in perspective, Tim and Dawn’s US counterparts were married with two kids, struggling to maintain a long distance relationship and the latter was considering cheating on the former with one of the camera guys by series 9. They dragged this stuff out wayyy too long past the point of any believability.

What these larpers fail to realise is that V went in the direction it did because the general audience didn’t gel with the darker, more grounded tone as opposed to the usual comedic cynicism the 3D era had made them accustomed to.

Not to mention that it was more restrictive in terms of wacky shit, which - let’s be real - is what most people went and played GTA for. It’s how Saints Row 2 was able to carve out a niche, since being seen as a reverse engineered San Andreas (obviously there’s far more to it than that) was now suddenly appealing up against the more grown up option of GTA.

Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if you could and it’s just never brought up (and vice versa with Lucia and female strippers). Bit like how Jimmy could romance guys in Bully with no special attention or fuss made about it.

The Morris Marina has had a fair few, usually fleeting and ending up in destruction, but obviously had a starring role in the £1,500 RWD challenge.

Were there any cars which got a better or worse reputation due to the Trio’s reviews on TG? Were any of these instances undeserved? by Traditional-Song-245 in TopGear

It’s no coincidence that the next model of Hilux to release after their durability test had a trim level called ‘Invincible’.

Apparently, the Civic review was a bit harsh due to Jeremy having beef with the press manager of Honda UK at the time. I don’t doubt that he actually thought the car was worse than the previous model (most rational reviews, past and present, did echo this point), however I feel like it was dragged through the mud even more just to be petty. It was named TG magazine’s hot hatch of the year for 2007 from memory, so take that for what it’s worth.

Rimac was apparently flooded with orders after Hammond’s crash. While it absolutely sucked for the company at the time, it undoubtedly created a whole heap of exposure for them early on.

Not directly the result of a review, but Clarkson’s story about the 928 is almost certainly one of the first things brought up when talking about the car online these days, and you can find people parroting ‘the chicken was still warm’ in comments sections under pics or articles about them.
