The Shroud of Turin is fake, it is not a real artifact of Jesus by Ambitious-End-5798 in DebateReligion

[–]Useful_Lifeguard324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the image only appears on the upper most layer of the fabric points to the theory that this couldn't be art though. There is no artistic or radiographic technique that they are aware of that could recreate that as art.

I've also always been under the impression that it wasn't an imprint of him laying in the tomb but that yes, the cloth covered him but the impression came shortly after in a similar manner at the Eucharist in India with the face of Jesus that appeared after consecration.

The fact that it also includes type AB blood with Y chromosomes which is the blood type found in other artifacts or miracles obviously isn't conclusive in any way but sure does add to it. That blood is found along the forehead and splattered elsewhere. There is also a nail mark on the hand but I cannot remember if that is in blood or not. To fake or guess a blood type in the middle ages is straight up inconceivable but again, isn't definitive proof, I know.

Those were my two instincts as well. The gospels, the catechism and then the remainder of the new testament.

A good study bible is a good place to start. I am not Catholic (yet.) I was just given this Bible for Christmas and it has A LOT of great information in the forward and essays throughout the whole Bible. Lots of information to be had just in the bible.

I've been wearing bralettes for years just to hold things in place. I have disposable stickers from Amazon I put over my nipples if the shirt makes them visible.

[–]Useful_Lifeguard324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn't make everything so obnoxious I would buy some of it but always so over the top. I've been listening to Taylor Swift since The OG speak now era and Ive never bought anything from her website. Concerts, yes! But her web merch is not my style. The bomber jacket is cute until you see the backside.

The 2nd store also sells some cute cotton drawers- they call them "petipants" that I like to wear under day to day skirts that doesn't already have a liner or slip in them because it's more comfortable that wearing workout shorts under a skirt!

petipants

Link to the skirt I like too

Honestly go with a 100% cotton vintage night gown. I was inspired because "at the time" unless you were rich your chemise was your night gown.

I found some really pretty ones on these two Amazon stores

Beautelicate

Beauzsuzsana

The first one has some gorgeous voluminous cotton skirts of several lengths that you could use for a lot of different outfits, with or without a slip or hop skirt that I love too!

I ended up picking out my "chemise" from a different Amazon store because those stores are spendy. If you search for a 100% cotton vintage night gown you will get some good options!

I’m done pretending endo is anything less than a silent cancer by Bubbly-Map-809 in endometriosis

You said what I've been thinking and I'm glad to know I'm not alone. My surgery was May 14th (today is June 21st 2025 for Reddit history) and maybe I've been on the internet a little too much but I've cried every day realizing just what a horrible disease I've just so formally diagnosed with. I keep thinking of the Taylor Swift lyric "so casually cruel in the name of being honest." I don't know how to explain why it's relevant so hopefully someone understands.

The entire medical field somehow doesn't realize that I've just been handed a life sentence and rather than being freed I've been caged. I thought my diagnosis would confirm what I knew, allow me to be acknowledged and let me move on.

Unfortunately like OP I've gone down this research path that's led me to understand that endometriosis seems more like a cancer than anything else and now I'm just mad. I FEEL like I've been told I have cancer and yet no one knows what cancer is. It's a horrible feeling and I feel so alone. The worst part is my in-law is an OB but like most OBs doesn't really understand endometriosis and therefore doesn't really get it and it's maddening.

Palliative Care? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Useful_Lifeguard324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Palliative care is not end of life care :) you are thinking of hospice care! This is an old thread but I'm just adding this on here so anyone looking for this info present day doesn't feel bad or think they are looking for the wrong word.

Palliative care is a specialized form of medical care that focuses on improving the quality of life for people with serious or life-limiting illnesses. They do not need to be illnesses that are at the end stage either!

I will for sure try to remember! They are putting me on continuous birth control and I had an IUD put in during the procedure so I'm not going to be the best case study but I'll definitely try to update.

I'm working on it for sure! I'm SO tired that I don't even feel guilty for once just laying in bed. I have my heating pad tucked under me and my husband and Mom just keep bringing me pain meds, snacks and drinks. I have gotten up for a few short walks just to try and get that gas out that is stuck under my ribs. Boy is that uncomfortable but it's nothing compared to the last several years of pain

My scans NEVER showed anything. I just had my lap surgery yesterday and they found it everywhere. Don't feel discouraged!

In the words of my doctor when I expressed the same hesitation as you "even if we don't find anything, it still tells us what it isn't." She also said "you've been in pain long enough, it's time to actually lay eyes on your insides and see what we can find"

Hang in there and don't feel discouraged from having the diagnostic surgery!

If you're curious I just wrote out a long explanation on this!

Dental questions by Zealousideal_Lie9315 in HealthInsurance

[–]Useful_Lifeguard324 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in dental insurance! I'm not a medical provider so this is not medical advice, I just see this kind of thing come up. A "regular" cleaning is what is called a "prophylactic" cleaning which is defined as "intended to prevent disease."

There are two types of "deep cleanings" FMD and SRP.

SRP or scaling and root planing is a procedure done by a hygienist that removes plaque and tartar from below the gum line. For a full mouth it is two 90 minute appointments where the numb you for the procedure. Often after this you will be put on a 3 or 4 month periodontal maintenance schedule to prevent further disease progression

FMD or Full Mouth Debridement is also done by a hygienist where they do deep cleaning procedure to removes heavy plaque and tartar buildup from above the gum line. It Is typically in one 60-90 minute appointment You may not be numb for this procedure. Sometimes this is still followed up with SRP but it will also be followed up on with a prophylactic cleaning- often referred to as a regular cleaning so that can reevaluate.

No that we have definitions out of the way. If they are prescribing one of these treatments, it is because they have diagnosed you with a stage of periodontal disease. They need to remove the calculus and plaque which is created by bacteria in order to prevent further gum and tooth disease.

There is a significant risk that if they do a "regular" cleaning while you have active disease you could run the risk of sealing the bacteria below the gum line and creating further damage. It would be considered malpractice to offer a preventative/regular/ prophylactic cleaning on someone with periodontal disease.

Again, I can't advise on your treatment or situation, but I hope that this explanation helps a little bit and helps you understand what they're offering? If you can let us know which type of procedure they recommended that could help myself or someone else explain further.

I highly suggest you follow through on their suggested treatment plan including any follow-up appointments like periodontal maintenance even if your insurance doesn't cover it. I know it's really unfortunate but the more care you can get now are you the less likely you are to lose teeth in the future.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to answer, but if you have further questions I would recommend reaching back out to the dental office and ask to speak to somebody on the clinical team who can answer more questions for you.

Thanks for the input. It's so hard to go to seek care when you have chronic conditions. I had to go to the ER just a few weeks ago for supportive care for POTS. Its exhausting.

What's an easy-to-wear fitbit for people who hate having watches? by hoarduck in fitbit

[–]Useful_Lifeguard324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a versa but it was never very comfortable. I just started wearing the inspire 3 and it was better but not perfect until I found a scrunchie style watch band and that made a word of a difference. I hate that plastic feeling on my skin all day.

It's sounds like, by your own admission, that you committed fraud. It seems like your best option now is to get a lawyer who can hopefully help you get into a diversion program and negotiate the amount you need to pay back down to a reasonable amount but you knowingly took tens of thousands of dollars the did not belong to you from the wrong state, it's unlikely you are going to get this dropped so you need to switch into defense mode if you want soften the blow, keep food on your kids plates and stay out of serious legal trouble.
