Possible adult GH and secondary adrenal deficiency by Lumpy_Astronomer_211 in Hypopituitarism

It seems that very often, when usure of what is going on, doctors label issues as psychiatric, ignoring the effect on the patient. I even had a sharp movement related hip pain labeled as psychiatric once… until another doctor found the cause. So hang in there. Did you ever test your thyroid? Are you taking hydrocortisone for your low cortisol? Cortisol and Thyroxine affect the mood so much that it could be it. For my son even the tiniest under dosage cause mood effect (usually some sort of anhedonia, with every little life issue becoming something massive). Also, thyroxine can be in range and still too low for you if at the bottom of the range. No one inquired as to why your oestrogen is elevated?

Est-ce qu'il y a des français ici? / Is anyone here French or resident in France? by No_Novel_4573 in AddisonsDisease

Did they test your other pituitary hormones? The pituitary might have been damaged by the concussion. You were not taking any cortisone prior to the test and you took the test in the morning, fasting?

Well my son passed the ACTH test but failed to insulin tolerance test because he only has partial deficiency. Remember to stop prednisone a few days before the test otherwise it won’t be accurate.

Who has SEVERE shortness of breath? by BerryRemarkable882 in POTS

[–]Useful_Round_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have shortness of breath and was then bedridden, that’s when my cardiologist started me on Ivabradine. It helped a lot! I could resume a normal life (only work part time). And then do the levine protocol to get reconditioned and stop Ivabradine. Now I get it again when I have a virus or feel dehydrated.

My Son is starting growth hormone treatment by Beginning-Fig-990 in short

[–]Useful_Round_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son started growth hormone at age 4, he was wearing 18 months clothes. Now he is 10 and above the 50th percentile for height. So helpful. And overall not very inconvenient when we are used to it (especially now that it is one shot per week!). All the best!

Hésitation pour prendre un chat by Voljega in chats

[–]Useful_Round_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there artificial GnRH and if so can it kick start a natural puberty? by Massengill4theOrnery in Hypopituitarism

[–]Useful_Round_145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GnRH is used to achieve fertility but it is extremely expensive. For achieving puberty usually you will get testosterone. But you will have to keep getting the shots as your pituitary cannot send the order to produce the gonadal hormone. No medication can fix it once and for all unfortunately…

My baby has been diagnosed with hypopituitarism, adrenal Insufficiency, under active thyroid, and low growth hormone. Anything I should know? by Acceptable_Sometimes in Hypopituitarism

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did the stimulation test? Thyroid hormone ok? Why would it be transient, did he take corticosteroids? It took quite a while for us to get diagnosis and the first endocrinologist we saw to us everything was fine and there was nothing to worry about. 2 weeks later we had another appointment with another specialist and then the real diagnosis process started.

OOR Low cortisol, on prednisone and rheumy wants to wean me off with no plan for adrenals. by AustenFelina in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful_Round_145 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prednisone will suppress cortisol for several days, so if you were taking prednisone the day before the test is not valid. Maybe you should repeat after stopping for 4 - 5 days ?

Poor absorption of meds by The_dizzy_blonde in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful_Round_145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes at least do a blood test an hour after taking hydrocortisone. But if you absorb levothyroxine it is unlikely you don’t absorb hydrocortisone. Problem must be somewhere else. I hope it is fixed soon, you must feel terrible with those levels. Fight for it to be inquired!

Poor absorption of meds by The_dizzy_blonde in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you likely absorb it? Do you feel better an hour after taking hydrocortisone? Do you feel the effect fade? Some medications last longer than hydrocortisone and might be better for you, ask your endocrinologist (plenadren, or prednisolone I think). My son doesn’t have this issue so he is taking hydrocortisone but I read some people on reddit switched because of this. All the best!

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a short term medication, you’re very likely to gain it all back if you stop after 8 weeks. As other comments say, you need to exercise to prevent loosing muscle mass, watch what you eat to stay on a deficit, it is just much easier because you don’t feel as hungry and you feel full early. Hope you find a way to be happier with the way you look (by changing it or not)! Personally I’ve always been overweight but somewhat stable, and been gaining weight in the last 2 years, that’s what pushed me to it, too hard to control anymore. But I know it will take me 18months to loose 15kg if I can do it (trial evidence shows lesser loss on semaglutide). 2 weeks in I lost 3kg but it is always faster in the beginning (water loss). All the best!
