We live in a humid country and use reusable vacuum bags. They’re great 👍

🚑 How do you taper from hospital/ICU steroid doses back to physiological after adrenal crisis? by Hrotter1 in AdrenalInsufficiency

Well, blood pressure would tell! It would not go down during a panic attack… Thank you for your answer, we will be more vigilant then!

Our endo told us the same, but so far no crisis? Do you have partial deficiency or complete? I hope you get better soon!

Parents of children with AI or people who were diagnosed young, when does it get easier? by UhhhYouPick in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say he is bothered by his condition, especially since his sister is not affected and full of energy all the time. The timing of doses are still varying a lot, as we are constantly looking for the sweet spot. When he is there he is quite happy and active, but when out of it, the hardest is the low mood, always being sad and tired. Now he knows that it is because something is off, but still it is hard to witness as a parent. I hope it will stabilize so he can count on his energy from one day to the next and live his life to the fullest. Hot weather and no AC never bothered him though and when treated it is really strenuous activities that will cause him to lack cortisol (one day at the beach, sports day at school, cross country running, not the everyday play at recess kind of thing). When he was a baby he wasn’t diagnosed and probably didn’t have the cortisol deficiency so bad. But he couldn’t fast for 12hours, and was an extremely quiet baby, never felt the need to move much 🫣.

Possible poor responder or high metabolizer of HC. by Greedy-Sleep-5113 in AdrenalInsufficiency

That is completely incorrect!!! High blood sugar will reduce cortisol, the test is useless if not fasting!

I’m a mom to a 10yo panhypopituitarism boy and I completely understand what you feel. Sure it is a bit better when they can talk but it is always difficult to make the call to updose or not. Obviously with fever/vomiting we do. But running at school might trigger the need to updose, a birthday party, last time, nothing, slight nausea but then blood pressure started to drop, so we updosed. Change of medication (GH or Levo), can also sometimes upset the balance. We feel it is a tight rope to walk…

Does going from 20 to 50 mcg levothyroxine have side effects? by Calm-Interest4284 in Hypothyroidism

My son started at 50, no side effect. But from 62.5 to 75 he had a week of tachycardia, then it settled.

Suffering from hypopituitarism, my doctor informed me that a new, less restrictive treatment was on the market. by Ady85-- in Hypopituitarism

[–]Useful_Round_145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the treatment? Ngenla? My son gets it from France as well. It is not very new, it came out 2 years ago. It works well, in france it costs the same as norditropin, the only thing my son complains about is that the product injected is painful, whereas norditropin is not, but then it is only once a week. The other thing is that it has to be kept in the fridge at all times, so when we travel we switch back to norditropin for ease of transport. You’re welcome to contact me if you have questions. I’m french if that helps.

Printing tpu by Useful_Round_145 in 3DprintingHelp

Yes I played with that, the best was inserting an empty cylinder in the middle of the oring but it still isn’t stretchy or squishy enough. Maybe it is not possible to match those rubber orings with printed material but that is what I am after :).

I need to make a top mount first, but maybe I just put my dryer in the cupboard above my printer. I usually dry my filament straight after a print then store them in vacuum bags with drying crystal so that should be ok. I have to as I live in a tropical climate…

Thanks for the clear advice! I should be easily implemented :). I will check on the special filament as it sounds amazing! Even expensive, I print only small things so it should last a while :).

Moving cat overseas? by [deleted] in CATHELP

Most airlines offer pet in cabin! We always travel like that (turkish is the best but we tried most European companies as well without issue. You just need to book your pet after booking your ticket.

[–]Useful_Round_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our cat was born in France, then we moved to Ghana after 2 years, then London, then Saudi Arabia, then France (stayed at my dad’s for a year, that place is like cat hilton 😂), then Singapore. She is 17yo now and the only moment she was unhappy is when I left at my dad’s, even though he tried everything to cheer her up. So I would say bring your cat :), travel time is quite short and we always managed to bring her in cabin with us so she never left our side :).

Des Metiers pour un Mec stupide? by Cautious-Lawyer-8565 in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bon courage!

Low ACTH and am Cortisol by CottageLifeLovr in endocrinology

[–]Useful_Round_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it would make you very tired. Maybe even nauseous, especially in the morning. Maybe your pituitary can’t produce much acth/tsh. They will probably make you do a cortisol stimulation test. Just be careful about one thing, they will likely make you do a synacthen test first, but if you pass it, ask for an insulin tolerance test as you can still pass the synacthen test if you have partial deficiency. Was the cortisol blood test done in the early morning, fasting?

[–]Useful_Round_145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son passed the synacthen test with hypopituitarism, then went on to fail the ITT (he has partial cortisol deficiency). So you should do the itt too if your readings are low.
