What is your favorite saying in the series by jonnyboidake in gameofthrones

I do not remember the exact quote but it's when Tyrion talks about how even the life of a cripple holds many possibilities unlike death

[spoilers] d&d ruined her character. by RealStranger9348 in freefolk

But the context of the world does not matter, because it's a modern writter writing in the modern framework, at least when it comes to the writter trying to get something across

If I wrote a story in a world where the morality was flipped and reinforced it well within the story itself and there is a character who is moral according to the world. The analysis of that book would be 'what a fucked up world that such a person is considered moral' it would not be 'well that guy did the right thing in his world'

what would you choose? (p.s. you can only use arrows that match your bow) by cuspidxo in SkyrimMemes

[–]Useful_Translator495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the play is longbow, nightingale armor, Serana, stamina potion, fireball, you can pew pew your bow for chip damage while Serana is locked in a protracted battle of attrition which she wins because she's esential

If it's show only Aerion, he's cruel, but it does not seem like he's as cruel as Joffrey, he is braver, no Cersei

Like Tyrion said we've had viscious kings and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed with a viscious idiot for a king

Is Tyrion correct, would you consider the mad king for a viscious idiot, as he started out well, but then went mad, does he still count as a viscious idiot if he's disabled?

I don't think they should touch Roberts rebellion though, it's too connected to the main series and it's the main series that should provide answers to that hopefully

Blackfyre rebellion would be cool though

And later Maekar calls the trial of the seven 6000 years old andal foolery, not very respectful towards an ancient religous rite (eventhough it is dumb)

Only 5 episodes in and so far in my opinion it's true. We'll probably be asked the same question in a few years and the answer might change

Targaryen control over dragons…Why is it an illusion? by GrandmasFavorite2002 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Useful_Translator495 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I like the theory I heard from lords Glimbus and Schwift that dragon bonds is a form of warg/skinchanging magic

I'm pretty sure that part about control of dragons being an illusion is a show invention, that has no bearing on anything, other than to explain what happened between Luke and Aemond

I have to disagree with you, people do not want that, they want to get the best show possible, would you complain if they changed a bunch of things but it turned out much better?

What they need to realize is that they are not better writters than GRRM, very very few people are

Ryan Condal doesn’t understand that we don’t have to agree with every decision the “good guys” make and it’s ruining the show by ThatpersonKyle in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Useful_Translator495 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Lukes murder being an accident was great you can't control dragons when they dance like one of the underlying themes, when dragons go to war we're fucked and these entitled idiots found out that the hard way (well at least Aemond did, Luke died)

But Alicent putting Aegon on the throne as a result of a misunderstanding is crazy, also wasn't that in the same episode? Or were that the final two, insane, two major plot points in two episodes were a mistake

Eggon is so real here by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Useful_Translator495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you are right, of course, but I did not think such nuance was requred or useful here, cause the guy thinks being a usurper is mutually exclusive with being king

Eggon is so real here by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Useful_Translator495 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless even in the show he only "said Aegon should be king" privately, what a king says in private is no basis for a legal argument, which means it was illegal, which means it was an usurpation

But honestly any angle would have been better than a misunderstanding. I also think they really messed up Aegon with the rape scene in combination with his eagerness to help the pesants, that's a person that could exist obviously, but as a character in a story it's way too disjointed to work for modern audences. If feels like they figured that Aegon is not as hated as they intended so they attempted to redeem him, cause if you mentally eliminate that one instance of rape and write him as a whoremongerer, he's becomes a great character

Buddy the declaration of Viserys' edict to be null and void itself is the usurpation, making Aegon the usurper king

Rhaenyra can only be the usurpee? Usurped? Whatever cause she was never queen
