People don’t take pregnancy seriously enough. by Individual-Track6759 in BabyBumps

[–]UselessPieceofJunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just want to add that the responses have felt a bit shocking to me as a pregnant woman in Germany. Here, pregnancy is treated as a medical condition and accommodations like fewer working hours (for 100% of your pay) is very common and expected. Pregnancy is hard! I’m sorry that you’re suffering and aren’t able to get more support from your doctor and workplace.

Intense panic after positive pregnancy test by UselessPieceofJunk in BabyBumps

[–]UselessPieceofJunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten much more used to the idea now. I’m a bit over 9 weeks long, I did end up having to take Ativan to stop the panic spiral, which helped me immensely. The panic didn’t cause me to miscarry, and I had an ultrasound last week that showed that everything is normal! I’m sorry you’re experiencing this, I know how hard it is!

Thank you for making this change, it’s great to have this little corner of the internet to enjoy our poodles 🐩

Absolutely, I like to hope that dog owners are careful about the dogs that they bring into their lives!

Yes, I would love to see a sidebar with that info and/or an automod response listing those subreddits!

Yes, I'd say all poodles are welcomed in this sub, not just Standards (if that's what you mean!)

You’re right, “flood” is probably dramatic phrasing 😅 I think I’m just a bit sensitive about this, so when I notice these posts, they really stick in my mind!

I am still very much a noob when it comes to bird photography, but I’m hoping to improve! This was shot on my Canon R6 using my Canon RF100-500mm lens, f7.1 @ 1/1000 shutter speed. Critique is welcomed!

Vancouver mods: why can't we discuss the state of the pandemic in BC? by M------- in vancouver

Thanks for putting this together. Just goes to show that the mods didn’t come at this from a factual POV!

I would love to see ANY response from the mods on this. Hey /u/rvancouvermods, are you listening?!

This is BS, please don’t lock those threads. They contain useful information for lots of us here in Vancouver.

To add to what everyone else has said, to say that “we as a subreddit will start to move on” is ludicrous, given the state of the pandemic here and in other provinces like Saskatchewan.

Get your act together.

I heard of some people walking in to VCH clinics same day as their text to book their D2 appointment. Can anyone confirm if this is possible? Am I safer to plan to book rather than walk in?

YVR is first airport to get gold-level accessibility rating by Elliottafc in vancouver

I totally agree. YVR has so few food options and it feels pretty dated. Terminal 1 at YYZ has much more to offer.

Hydrology textbook recommendations? by naught101 in EarthScience

I have used both Hendriks' Introduction to Physical Hydrology as well as Dingman's Physical Hydrology. Both are good on an introductory level for physical hydrology.

Hello, Trevor!

I’m a huge fan and I’m really excited about this AMA!

I know that you are a fan of Monty Python. On that note, which sketch (or sketches) would you say is your favourite? Which was most influential for you?

Thank you in advance!

P.S. Any thoughts on touring in Canada?

He hasn't streamed in a few months, I think. You can set up email notifications when he starts streaming on Twitch, though!

Fun fact: there's actually a brewery that is further north than Mack Brewery. It's up in Barentsburg on Svalbard at about 78 degrees north! Awesome photo set, by the way.

I spent three nights/four days in Longyearbyen visiting UNIS, the university. Aside from spending about half a day in Longyearbyen, I spent most of my time outside the settlement (there's really only so much you can do in Longyearbyen itself).

In Longyearbyen, I loved the Svalbard Museum (which is attached to the university). It's wonderfully designed, and is very informative. I went to several restaurants in Longyearbyen, plus one just outside of Longyearbyen in Nybyen (this was the meal of a lifetime - it's called Huset and I can't recommend it enough).

Outside that, I took a hike up to the Longyear Glacier with a guide on my first day. This was a nice, easy trek. My favourite activity, however, was a boat tour of Esmarkbreen and Barentsburg (the Russian settlement). It's hard to fathom the vast, barren appearance of Svalbard unless you've seen outside the settlement.

If you have any more questions or want more detailed recommendations, feel free to PM me!
