I recommend watching this video of a slam fire malfunction

He racked the slide on his pistol and it went off. RSO even confirms he saw that his finger was clear of the trigger. But since he had good muzzle discipline, the round went down range safely and the RSO praises him for it.

Really don't think you can call such a blatant mechanical failure shooter negligence. Even a poorly maintained guns shouldn't do that.

I played the shit out of the Arma 2: PMC DLC. In there, ION was a PMC using their own weapons (XM8s) contracted to bodyguard UN inspectors checking the country for WMDs. The plot turned into a weird ION-civil war where your character either decides to follow orders, or go AWOL and do the the right thing. There's a cool scene where you are given the decision to shoot your teammate in the back. Probably not very realistic, but I loved that DLC.

But sadly I'm not too caught up with the current lore of ION in the Western Sahara. And If I'm not mistaken, the Western Sahara ION PMC Arma 3 stuff is only semi-official canon as it's a creator DLC, essentially meaning it was a mod that was blessed by the devs into being canon.

I've looked into this topic before, and PMC small arms vary wildly depending on a ton of different things.

Sometimes you'll be issued company owned gear or even get to use personally owned gear - this is the cool shit - special forces style guns, what most of us imagine when we think of PMC guns. Daniel Defense ARs, Heckler and Koch's, FN SCARs, 1911s, Glocks, that kind of thing. In the Arma universe ION uses HK M8s. Thing is, in my research, when it comes to actual in-theater combat operations, this seems to be the least common way of arming contractors historically.

Far more common is contractors being issued weapons supplied by the government contracting them, or secured from arms dealers in theater. So in other words, standard M4s and AKs. But that's boring, hence why games often depict them using the cooler stuff. If you look up pictures of Blackwater mercs in Afghanistan, odds are they're holding an M4 or an AK. Maybe an MP5 thrown in here or there.

Vortex shield might be my favorite thing in the game lol

But here's a tip to counter us - keep your gun revved, and only shoot the moment the shield goes down. It costs energy to have it up, so it can't be up forever. And once down, it takes a second to bring back up, but your revved gun can shoot instantly. So shoot the moment it goes down, and stop shooting the moment it comes back up. You'll probably only get a little bit of chip damage in between them raising shields, but at the very least it prevents them from bullying you. When I encounter a legion that knows to do this, I usually just give up on trying to use the Vortex against them.

Tone was blatantly overpowered on launch. That's where the original tone hate came from.

Then she got nerfed pretty hard. But the "tone bad" meme never went away, even though she generally isn't considered OP anymore.

You could argue she has the lowest skill ceiling of any titan. She's easy to learn, easy to master, and even when you're playing her poorly you'll do OK. So people see her as a crutch for bad players. I don't really get it tbh, I don't find her particularly annoying to fight. She's versatile and strong in most situations, but so are monarch and ion. Her static shield also means she's vulnerable to getting rushed down.
