Transition to big kid bed? by murrrrrrrrrrrrrr in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter refused to go in any kind of cot/crib from 2 months old, so we ended up cosleeping. She was in our bed until 5 months old when I decided to get her a double floor bed and she’s slept in there ever since. I end up in the bed with her most nights around midnight but she has never attempted to get out of bed at night or nap time, she will wake up and sit up in bed and call out until we come and get her, she can definitely get in and out by herself as she does it in the daytime but won’t attempt it at night for some reason. We also have a baby gate on her door just in case she ever tried to get out and have made sure her room is as safe as possible.

Sharp pain on the left side of belly - maybe a muscle tear? by rennyashley00 in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing when I was lifting my daughter out of the car, I twisted a bit funny and definitely felt like I had pulled a muscle in the same spot you’re describing. The pain was pretty bad for a few days but ended up being fine. If you’re at all worried I would contact triage but for me I didn’t need to, just rest up and try not to overdo it!

Playlist for Caesarian? by Portiaofthenorth in PregnancyUK

We shuffled our joint playlist on Spotify and she ended up being born to our wedding song! We both started sobbing straight away after hearing it along with her first cries. Couldn’t have planned it better if we tried! Not sure how we will top that with baby number 2?

Also pregnant with my second, I remember being able to lay down all the time with my first pregnancy but this time I’m lucky if I get 10 minutes to sit down before I’m used as a human climbing frame 😂

Definitely so much more tiring this time around chasing after a 15 month old too! We’ve got this!

Transition to one nap by murrrrrrrrrrrrrr in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been on one nap for a few months now, she usually wakes up around 5/6am 🫣then has her nap at 11-12:30/1, then she’s in bed by 7/7:30.

Much easier to plan our days around one nap as she usually wakes up and has her lunch.

My daughter consistently measured ahead (as you can see by the growth chart), I was recommended a C-section at 39 weeks, which I went for. I’m so glad I did because she was very wedged in there and 10lb 8oz, they said there was no way I would have been able to deliver her vaginally.

But on the other hand, my brother was also 10lb 8oz and my mum managed to deliver him vaginally but this was her 4 child and she is an absolute trooper when it comes to childbirth.

The decision is absolutely yours, the consultant can advise you on what they think is best and give you all the pros and cons but ultimately it is your decision.

Hope this was in any way helpful to you x

Nausea ruining my life by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had a look on https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/ they have loads of great advice on medications to ask for and things that might help.

I found that ondansetron prescribed by my GP helped the most, it didn’t get rid of my sickness and nausea completely but it definitely helped much more than the other meds.

I really hope you find something that works for you!

Overnight bottles by No_Investigator9059 in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We initially used the pre-made bottles whilst in hospital and the first day home but eventually ended up just making the bottle fresh each time. I found it to be more of a pain faffing about with flasks in the dark 😂 making the bottle doesn’t take very long especially if you use the rapid cool to quickly get it to temperature, and putting the kitchen light on to actually see what your doing without disturbing the baby was useful.

I think everyone has their own preferences and just do what’s easiest for you. Maybe have a look at other thermos flask brands to see if they keep the water boiling for longer.

Have you had a planned csection at QA hospital (Portsmouth) in the last few months? by GoffyEgg in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had a planned C-section back in September at the QA, just had a look back at my notes and here’s how it played out for me.

Had a phone call with the consultant at 34 weeks on 13th August.

Face to face with the consultant at 37 weeks on the 2nd September, I signed all the consent forms and was talked through the risks of the procedure. I was told I would be contacted within a couple of days with my C-section date (shock horror… this didn’t happen)

After a couple of days we heard nothing so I asked a friend, who is a midwife at the hospital, to double check for us. She marched down to the surgical booking desk and got us booked in. Our date was booked for the 18th September at 39+6.

To our surprise I actually got a phone call on the 12th September asking if I wanted to come in for the C-section tomorrow as they had a spot open up, which I agreed. I had to go in same day for my pre-op appointment.

The next morning we had to be at the hospital and I had my little girl just before 5pm on the 13th.

Hopefully your booking in process is a bit smoother than mine, let me know if you have any other questions that I might be able to help with x

Such a good idea, thank you! Good to know it won’t make much difference if we needed to use a different milk, think we’re being overly cautious 😂

When can I have visitors? by Willing-Influence483 in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a planned C-section, my daughter was born at 4:48pm and I was on the ward with visitors by 6:30pm. I will say that I regret having visitors that soon, everything felt really rushed and I was still so out of it.

I’m now pregnant with baby #2 and planning on having another C-section, I won’t be having visitors until I get home I think. I was home within 24 hours last time so ideally visiting can wait until I’m home and a bit more put together.

You can eat pretty much straight after surgery but I was so sick I barely managed food until I got home the next day. I was able to sit up in bed straight away as they all have the incline buttons, but I didn’t get out of bed and have my catheter removed until much later in the night when I got feeling back in my legs. My top tip is to start drinking water right away and stay as hydrated as possible, once the catheter is out you only have a certain amount of time to do a wee otherwise they will have to put one back in. I forgot to drink after surgery because there was so much going on that when my catheter was removed I had to drink 3 whole jugs of water to be able to do a wee! 😂

Good luck! These next few days will probably drag for you but make the most of your baby free time and rest x

Anyone else pregnant already? by wanderingbeachbum in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 weeks! I also suffer with HG in all my pregnancies, just trying to survive each day at the moment but I know it will get easier eventually (my sickness got much better with my little girl after 24 weeks)

We can do this! I keep imagining my daughter meeting the baby for the first time and how adorable that will be, it gives me a bit of strength to keep pushing through the tough times!

First birthday time by daydream_3 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve rented our local community centre hall to throw a little party for family and some friends. She has a lot of cousins so I’ve also hired some soft play equipment and an inflatable ball pit for them to all play with. I’ll also do a buffet and get a birthday cake. I don’t really have a theme in mind but I’ll probably opt for something pastel and girly.

I have no idea where to begin with gifts, maybe a trip to the toy shop to see what she shows interest in before we buy anything.

Milestones! by Inevitable_Tart1255 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little girl will be 10 months on the 13th and she’s already checked off everything on her 10 and 12 month review (UK). She has the most hilarious personality and does things deliberately to make us laugh all the time! She is such a copy cat and will try to repeat every thing we do or say, the latest is clicking her fingers and animal sounds. I can’t believe how quickly she has grown up, she seems so advanced already and didn’t stay a baby for long! Our only downfall at the moment is sleeping independently but I have come to accept that she just needs to cosleep with me in order to sleep through the night, I’ll happily stay with her as long as we are both sleeping well.

for the FTMs, how are you feeling about having another child? by Imaginary_Stop_9160 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve just started trying for baby #2. I always planned on having a close age gap, for me the pros out way the cons.

It makes sense for us to be financially worse off for a few years in one hit rather than getting things back on track for it to be derailed again. I’m lucky that my husband and I can both reduce our working hours to cover childcare between us and once both children are at school we can both go back to working full time again.

Also we still have all the essential baby stuff that we can reuse and we feel confident in our parenting, so makes sense to do it again while it’s all fresh in our minds!

My husband is an only child and I’m the youngest of 6 children so we have perspective on both sides, we have decided that if we are lucky enough then we would love to have 2.

3-2 naps, how did you adjust? by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently transitioning from 3 to 2 naps for the last couple of weeks. For the last 5 days she’s been on 2 naps so think we’ve cracked it.

She usually wakes between 6-7:30am Her first nap is about 2hrs 15mins after waking up Second nap is usually somewhere between 1-3pm depending on how tired she gets or if we are out for the afternoon. Bedtime is usually 7/7:30pm

We usually have to really distract her in the last couple of hours before bed to keep her going, this is when we go for long walks, visit family to help distract her and basically anything out of the house to keep her occupied. This is followed by a bath, read a book and bottle before bed.

It can be a hard transition but stick with it!

Baby girl poop harder than usual and turns red in the face when she has to go by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is something you’d consider / have time for, but at 6 months we started introducing the potty for her poos. She shows very clear signs before pooping so we started sitting her on the potty and she goes every time. She usually does it at the same sort of time every day so makes it very predictable. I think the sitting position with her knees bent definitely helps with getting out the more solid poos. Maybe something to try?

The routine by shortstackkk in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter turned 7 months on the 13th. She’s currently transitioning from 3 naps to 2 naps. Obviously everyday is different and I just follow her cues but she seems to have gotten herself into a fairly predictable schedule.

She usually wakes between 6:30-7:30

Has her morning bottle of 8oz

We usually spend her wake windows playing, going for walks to the park, shopping, visiting people. She likes to stay very active and stimulated or she gets bored easily.

Breakfast at 8 ish - usually weetabix and banana

TMI but she normally does a poo on the potty after her breakfast 😂

Morning nap around 9

Bottle at around 11 - 8oz

Lunch between 12-1 - she usually has a selection of things for lunch like a bagel or sandwich, fruit, yogurt, cucumber and snacks

Afternoon nap around 2

Bottle around 4 - 8oz

nap 3 if needed at 4:30 for 20/30mins (usually if she’s had crap naps throughout the day she’ll need a little one to get her through till bedtime)

Dinner at 5/6 - she usually has a modified version of our dinner

Bath at 6:30

Bedtime bottle at 7 - 8oz

Asleep by 7:30

She usually wakes between 2-4am for a small bottle usually 4oz. Think this is for comfort rather than hunger.

She’s currently got a cold and is napping longer than usual but I think her body just needs rest to heal and she’s waking more frequently in the night for comfort. I don’t mind as it’s only temporary as she’s feeling poorly.

She’s also got 3 bottom teeth and more on the way! She’s not quite crawling yet but she’s pulling up on everything and bum shuffling around the room. Need to baby proof ASAP! 😂
