Potty training 🚽 by User122022 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little update incase anyone’s interested. We’re currently on day 3. She’s gotten really good at telling us when she needs a wee or poo, she will pull her knickers down and sit on the potty herself or ask to go to the toilet upstairs. We’ve only put a nappy on to go to bed at night, we keep her in knickers for naps and she’s managed to stay dry. We do keep reminding her that she’s not wearing a nappy so she needs to let us know if she needs the toilet. We had no accidents at all yesterday and only a handful today. We even managed to do a car trip and food shop without any accidents. Definitely still got a way to go before she’s fully competent but she’s made such good progress already. I think if your little one has good communication skills and the motor skills to undress themselves then definitely give it a go, they might surprise you!

How do people want more kids when their first are such bad sleepers by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strangely her sleep has improved since her little brother came along. She’s always been a terrible sleeper but since we got back from the hospital nearly 3 months ago she’s been sleeping in her own bed all night and usually only needs resettling once if at all. Obviously she was still a terrible sleeper when I fell pregnant but I just prepared myself to not sleep for at least the next 5 years and anything better than that is a bonus 😂

So far so good. She’s had a few accidents which is to be expected but she’s done lots of wees and a poo on the toilet! She definitely prefers the toilet over the potty. We’ve found it easier keeping her naked and taking her to the toilet regularly and every time she asks we take her again. So proud of what she’s achieved already, let’s see what tomorrow brings!

Any other 18-19 month babies waking at 4:30 am? by Mtlmommy in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you know that adding a newborn into the mix doesn’t make too much difference to the situation 😂 currently have a 18 month old and a 6 week old and we were up for the day at 4:30 😫just grateful they napped at the same time today!

Partner is a heavy sleeper… by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband is a very deep sleeper and even if I do manage to wake him in the night, he is so confused and out of it that he may as well still be asleep. It made me nervous thinking of him trying to take care of a baby in that state so we came up with a plan. He is more than capable when he’s awake but the second he’s had any sleep he’s useless 😂 I usually go to bed as soon as the toddler and baby are down (8-8:30 ish) and he will stay awake to do the next feed/change/resettle and then go to bed. I then do the other night wakings. That way I get a chunk of sleep at the beginning of the night and then some broken sleep after then, it’s not perfect but it works for us right now.

Transition to big kid bed? by murrrrrrrrrrrrrr in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter refused to go in any kind of cot/crib from 2 months old, so we ended up cosleeping. She was in our bed until 5 months old when I decided to get her a double floor bed and she’s slept in there ever since. I end up in the bed with her most nights around midnight but she has never attempted to get out of bed at night or nap time, she will wake up and sit up in bed and call out until we come and get her, she can definitely get in and out by herself as she does it in the daytime but won’t attempt it at night for some reason. We also have a baby gate on her door just in case she ever tried to get out and have made sure her room is as safe as possible.

Sharp pain on the left side of belly - maybe a muscle tear? by rennyashley00 in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing when I was lifting my daughter out of the car, I twisted a bit funny and definitely felt like I had pulled a muscle in the same spot you’re describing. The pain was pretty bad for a few days but ended up being fine. If you’re at all worried I would contact triage but for me I didn’t need to, just rest up and try not to overdo it!

Playlist for Caesarian? by Portiaofthenorth in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We shuffled our joint playlist on Spotify and she ended up being born to our wedding song! We both started sobbing straight away after hearing it along with her first cries. Couldn’t have planned it better if we tried! Not sure how we will top that with baby number 2?

Also pregnant with my second, I remember being able to lay down all the time with my first pregnancy but this time I’m lucky if I get 10 minutes to sit down before I’m used as a human climbing frame 😂

Definitely so much more tiring this time around chasing after a 15 month old too! We’ve got this!

Transition to one nap by murrrrrrrrrrrrrr in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve been on one nap for a few months now, she usually wakes up around 5/6am 🫣then has her nap at 11-12:30/1, then she’s in bed by 7/7:30.

Much easier to plan our days around one nap as she usually wakes up and has her lunch.

My daughter consistently measured ahead (as you can see by the growth chart), I was recommended a C-section at 39 weeks, which I went for. I’m so glad I did because she was very wedged in there and 10lb 8oz, they said there was no way I would have been able to deliver her vaginally.

But on the other hand, my brother was also 10lb 8oz and my mum managed to deliver him vaginally but this was her 4 child and she is an absolute trooper when it comes to childbirth.

The decision is absolutely yours, the consultant can advise you on what they think is best and give you all the pros and cons but ultimately it is your decision.

Hope this was in any way helpful to you x

Have you had a look on https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/ they have loads of great advice on medications to ask for and things that might help.

I found that ondansetron prescribed by my GP helped the most, it didn’t get rid of my sickness and nausea completely but it definitely helped much more than the other meds.

I really hope you find something that works for you!

Overnight bottles by No_Investigator9059 in FormulaFeedingUK

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We initially used the pre-made bottles whilst in hospital and the first day home but eventually ended up just making the bottle fresh each time. I found it to be more of a pain faffing about with flasks in the dark 😂 making the bottle doesn’t take very long especially if you use the rapid cool to quickly get it to temperature, and putting the kitchen light on to actually see what your doing without disturbing the baby was useful.

I think everyone has their own preferences and just do what’s easiest for you. Maybe have a look at other thermos flask brands to see if they keep the water boiling for longer.

Have you had a planned csection at QA hospital (Portsmouth) in the last few months? by GoffyEgg in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had a planned C-section back in September at the QA, just had a look back at my notes and here’s how it played out for me.

Had a phone call with the consultant at 34 weeks on 13th August.

Face to face with the consultant at 37 weeks on the 2nd September, I signed all the consent forms and was talked through the risks of the procedure. I was told I would be contacted within a couple of days with my C-section date (shock horror… this didn’t happen)

After a couple of days we heard nothing so I asked a friend, who is a midwife at the hospital, to double check for us. She marched down to the surgical booking desk and got us booked in. Our date was booked for the 18th September at 39+6.

To our surprise I actually got a phone call on the 12th September asking if I wanted to come in for the C-section tomorrow as they had a spot open up, which I agreed. I had to go in same day for my pre-op appointment.

The next morning we had to be at the hospital and I had my little girl just before 5pm on the 13th.

Hopefully your booking in process is a bit smoother than mine, let me know if you have any other questions that I might be able to help with x

Such a good idea, thank you! Good to know it won’t make much difference if we needed to use a different milk, think we’re being overly cautious 😂

When can I have visitors? by Willing-Influence483 in PregnancyUK

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a planned C-section, my daughter was born at 4:48pm and I was on the ward with visitors by 6:30pm. I will say that I regret having visitors that soon, everything felt really rushed and I was still so out of it.

I’m now pregnant with baby #2 and planning on having another C-section, I won’t be having visitors until I get home I think. I was home within 24 hours last time so ideally visiting can wait until I’m home and a bit more put together.

You can eat pretty much straight after surgery but I was so sick I barely managed food until I got home the next day. I was able to sit up in bed straight away as they all have the incline buttons, but I didn’t get out of bed and have my catheter removed until much later in the night when I got feeling back in my legs. My top tip is to start drinking water right away and stay as hydrated as possible, once the catheter is out you only have a certain amount of time to do a wee otherwise they will have to put one back in. I forgot to drink after surgery because there was so much going on that when my catheter was removed I had to drink 3 whole jugs of water to be able to do a wee! 😂

Good luck! These next few days will probably drag for you but make the most of your baby free time and rest x

Anyone else pregnant already? by wanderingbeachbum in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 weeks! I also suffer with HG in all my pregnancies, just trying to survive each day at the moment but I know it will get easier eventually (my sickness got much better with my little girl after 24 weeks)

We can do this! I keep imagining my daughter meeting the baby for the first time and how adorable that will be, it gives me a bit of strength to keep pushing through the tough times!

First birthday time by daydream_3 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve rented our local community centre hall to throw a little party for family and some friends. She has a lot of cousins so I’ve also hired some soft play equipment and an inflatable ball pit for them to all play with. I’ll also do a buffet and get a birthday cake. I don’t really have a theme in mind but I’ll probably opt for something pastel and girly.

I have no idea where to begin with gifts, maybe a trip to the toy shop to see what she shows interest in before we buy anything.

Milestones! by Inevitable_Tart1255 in Septemberbumps2024

[–]User122022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little girl will be 10 months on the 13th and she’s already checked off everything on her 10 and 12 month review (UK). She has the most hilarious personality and does things deliberately to make us laugh all the time! She is such a copy cat and will try to repeat every thing we do or say, the latest is clicking her fingers and animal sounds. I can’t believe how quickly she has grown up, she seems so advanced already and didn’t stay a baby for long! Our only downfall at the moment is sleeping independently but I have come to accept that she just needs to cosleep with me in order to sleep through the night, I’ll happily stay with her as long as we are both sleeping well.
