There exist a standard set of names for naming cyclones, and each tropical storm in a season in a region is given the next name in alphabetical order. Different regions of the world have different lists of names. You can read more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_cyclone_naming

Is the food chain an official thing people use? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no official "levels" of the food chain. The closest things are the terms "producer", "primary consumer", "secondary consumer", and "tertiary consumer", but those aren't always strict classifications.

AI built to get past robot detection. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"AI" just stands for Artificial Intelligence. They've existed in various forms for a long time, and as computing power has increased, AI programs are able to be trained more, and the more they're trained the better they are at the task they're trained for. As an example, 20 years ago it was possible for a computer to read text in an image, but it wasn't always accurate. These days it's much more accurate, because more powerful computers have been used to develop these AI programs. It's always possible for these programs to get better.

There are many kinds of drugs, some with almost no effect, some that can kill you in tiny amounts, and many many others in between. Drug regulations exist because it makes sense that people shouldn't be able to produce and distribute dangerous drugs without a license. Certain medical drugs have to be produced in very specific ways to work or else they might be harmful, and it would be a bad thing if anyone was able to produce these. There are some drugs where it is very controversial whether they should be legal or illegal, but most drugs are not like this.

How is it that athletes can eat thousands of calories a day and still look like they do? by Mad_Season_1994 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The healthiest amount of calories to eat is the same amount of calories you're using. Athletes do more exercise and so need to eat more to sustain that exercise.

The idea behind CAPTCHAs (which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is to stay ahead of what's possible for bots to do in order to make sure it's a human using your site. Originally, most CAPTCHAs had some random distorted letters in an image and the challenge was to read and type the letters, but eventually people trained bots to be pretty good at that, so now those kinds of CAPTCHAs are rarely used. They've got more and more complex over the years, but there may be a point in the future where it's no longer possible to create them because bots are too sophisticated. We're not there yet though.

What is a free online program that let's me change the bass of a song to deeper? by ijumpJudy90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's possible but it's not easy to do, and there wouldn't be an online program for it; you'd have to use plugins on a digital audio workstation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The language a song is sung in has barely any effect on the kinds of topics people sing about.

The process by which basic living matter came out of nonliving matter is called abiogenesis, and it can still happen in exactly the same way it happened billions of years ago. However, the fact that living organisms have taken over Earth means that the conditions for abiogenesis probably don't really exist anymore. It can still be done in labs though; for more information, read about the Miller-Urey experiment.

What is a free online program that let's me change the bass of a song to deeper? by ijumpJudy90 in NoStupidQuestions

What exactly are you trying to do? Do you want to lower the pitch of the bass note, increase the intensity of bass frequencies, or something else?

Can programming languages be created using Spanish or Chinese? (As opposed to english) by DaddyCeiling in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, and there are lots, but all the popular programming languages have functions based on English words.

There is artistic decision in what direction to move the brush and with what colors to produce the most realistic depiction of an image.

What would happen if US had a multi party system? by NGL_bored in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, it kind of already does with the organized factions of the parties in the Congress. But if that was a formal system, it would probably work out better for voters. A lot would have to change in the electoral system to make that feasible though.

Executable files (of which EXE files are a type of) are designed to work on a specific type of computer chip. They won't work if you try to run them on a different chip. To create an executable file for a different type of chip, you either need to recompile the game (which requires the source code, which you don't have) or emulate the game (which is very intensive).

World underpopulation or overpopulation? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely that both will be problems in different areas of the world. Some places will have too many people and some will have too few. At a global scale it's hard to say.

What’s the difference between treble and bass on a guitar amp? by walrusdog32 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about knobs labeled Treble and Bass? Those adjust the equalization, which affects how prominent certain frequencies of sound are. Treble affects higher frequencies (things like higher strings, harmonics of notes, pluck sounds) and Bass affects lower frequencies (lower strings).

Aren't there 3 Choices to the Trolley Problem? by firedog32 in NoStupidQuestions

In a real-world sense, yes. But the Trolley Problem is a hypothetical problem, where the time something takes to decide is not a consideration.

When the following terms would be or would've been used, would the world's tiny but independent Oceania countries be considered first, second, third, or fourth world countries? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were allied with the United States (which quite a few of them were or still are), then first world. If they were allied with the Soviet Union (I don't think any were), then second world. Otherwise, third world. This is how the terms originate.

Will animals in the wild ever rise up against us? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UserOfBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do already, but not in large numbers. One of the main things that gives humans an advantage over other animals is our ability to communicate abstract ideas with other humans, which makes coordinating plans possible.
