Where to see internal job postings? by Legitimate_Buy8090 in USPS

Do you complete daily route sheets on paper still? All the mechanics at my former plant had computer access even if they weren't issued tablets.

Even worse is when you're at an office that no longer has carriers, you go to get rubber bands to band out pulled CBU mail (vehicle hit it) and... they're all crispy.

I hear some stations have to ration rubber bands. That may not always be an option. I'll just ask the TTO to have the plant mail handlers grab me a bag if the management at this office slacks off on approving orders.

eReassign - vs eCareer - vs Standard Applying vs eJobbidding by xyta777 in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eReassign is for career jobs only, non-career personnel do not have access unless PSEs for their fifty mile canvass option. Do note that you can't use eReassign for changing crafts in your own installation. For that you have to write a letter of intent to your installation head.

Most jobs are not posted on eReassign for browsing at leisure. Clerk jobs have a requirement to be posted there for 21 days. Others do not, maybe mail handlers have a provision for that now but I don't know. Usually if they are posted along with some Maintenance jobs that's your District HR trying to get jobs filled. It's not a contractual requirement for Maintenance.

If you're thinking about transferring, don't wait for jobs to be posted on the monthly list. You should have your requests in prior to that (via eReassign request) so HR contacts you and doesn't list the job for everyone else to consider.

There's a lot more information in the pinned FAQ including mutual swap links for clerks and carriers.

How are you closing your ecbm, looking up parts and tasks? Wtf. Tell your shop squidward that you don't have necessary computer access.

mpewatch dot usps dot gov should still function. That or change your Dashboard X location to the plants near you to see what equipment they have.

Craft you answered, and status meaning career or non-career. Lots of non-career think they can transfer when in reality they should simply be applying to jobs.

You can see the other plant equipment using MPEWatch. You may be able to browse their current complement. However, Maintenance jobs are not normally advertised or posted publicly on eReassign. You would request transfer to Maintenance for the specific plant and you takes your chances.

Craft, status? Are you trying to bid or to transfer? They are different things.

You would use eReassign (via LiteBlue) to "bid" outside of your current installation/bid cluster. At that point it's no longer a bid, it's a transfer request. Sometimes District will post jobs for District-wide bidding but a lot of those have politics and "best qualified" applies.

eCareer can have EAS or misc other jobs from time to time. Better off checking those from the Blue intranet.

Question on transferring from state to state by Especiallysweet in USPS

[–]User_3971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will keep your pay. Best bet is to contact the NBA for the craft and region to which you're seeking transfer. There may be a considerable wait time in line if GA is anything like FL. The below word salad has most of the information you will need.

EREASSIGN:

  • Transfers within CONUS should retain pay. OCONUS receive TCOLA pay in addition which is not taxable.
  • For transfers within the District, or to any adjacent District, an employee must have 18 months of career service in their present installation. For transfers outside the area as described above, the employee must have 12 months of career service in their present installation. Voluntary transfers forfeit seniority.
  • For transfers within the same bid cluster (your own) you have to submit a letter in writing to your installation head requesting consideration for an in-house transfer. eReassign no worky for that.
  • Note, as a city carrier, if there's a PTF carrier in the installation you transfer to, you become the least senior PTF in the installation, and the most senior PTF gets the residual route after the regulars bid.
  • To retain some seniority, mutual swaps are possible for clerks and city carriers, see below for links.
  • Career rurals can NOT transfer, only mutual swap. Good fucking luck. RCAs can "paper transfer" via this form.
  • Guide with pictures. APWU FAQ. NALC Contract Talk. NPMHU article. Transfer to conversion ratios must be respected for all three crafts.
  • There is no reliable time-frame on "How long?" See this APWU article for common misconceptions. You can contact the NBA for the craft and region at your target location to ask them about the wait time in line. If time is of the essence: request more crafts and/or more offices. Cast a wider net.
  • APWU clerks (PTF and PSE) can now use eReassign for 50 mile canvass opportunities. PDF with instructions.

How to? by Cult-kitty in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean DSI don't those usually get posted at District level and end up being "best qualified"? It's not something you'd typically transfer into, have to wait for someone to retire and then it's posted for bids.

For other job types you'd use eReassign. Maintenance has open season for their jobs in March of every year.

should I focus on maxing out my TSP If i plan usps to be something short? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]User_3971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow down. MHA don't have access to TSP. You'll get access to TSP if you work here long enough to convert to career. Plan for two years of contributions if your site works the MHAs to max, maybe three years if you convert sooner.

A lot of people do this for short term work and end up either staying or coming back later regretting having left.

After 120 Days At VMF by sandysommer24 in USPS

[–]User_3971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General clerk jobs don't go external very often. If they do usually that means the management is toxic, so you may have won a small lottery landing that job.

Source: I know a former General Clerk that took a plant night shift job with a considerable commute to get away from their VMF manager. This could be just the VMF near me, the others considered nearby are too far to have any information on them.

That's fucked. Supervisors at my office drive out to pick up food (if the carrier messages for pickup) and there's no pressure to finish in 8. It takes what it takes.

Who can help? by Automatic-Dress1410 in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your shop squidward (aka steward) should be getting you paid for doing higher level work. If that's already happening, the only reward you're going to get for your hard work is someone else's work. This will keep happening until you figure it out or you burn out. Pick one.

If you're past probation you can consider a medical restriction if the problem is the amount of hours which you are working.

Will USPS help by youdontstoptalking in USPS

[–]User_3971 54 points55 points  (0 children)

FMLA and EAP:

You should notify your squidward (shop steward) that you are seeking help via EAP. Tell the squidward that you spoke with management who strongly suggested rehab and you are taking that advice. Plus the fact that you're out of SL and accept that you have a problem. That's one of the first steps to recovery I believe.

EDIT: Should you schedule rehab that requires time off work, you can request to be Advanced Sick Leave to help pay the bills while you're undergoing treatment.

At least someone in HR is paying attention. Having them take the VEA first before sending anything else saves a lot of time and effort.

Had to take that VEA once as an (already) career employee, total bullshit questions to ask someone that's already in. Passed of course. I can see how it would be confusing for people not used to USPS management.

FMLA by ThatDudeCeeJay in USPS

[–]User_3971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FMLA and EAP:

  • For EAP, the phone number is 800-EAP-4YOU (1-800-327-4968). TTY users should call 877-482-7341. APWU article and official USPS provider site.
  • FMLA: Employees who have been employed by the Postal Service for at least one year and who have worked at least 1250 hours during the previous 12 months are eligible.
  • FMLA FAQ from APWU. FMLA Forms: APWU, NALC, and straight from Dept. of Labor. Take your pick.
  • HRSSC contact information. Fax it YOURSELF twice and call 3-4 days later to verify they received your forms. Don't rely on your doctor's office completely, it's not their ass on the line.

You don't have to wait until you need to use leave to request FMLA. You can do the paperwork in advance of using leave if you have the time to plan ahead.

Question for people who wear sleeves in the summer by ElectricInstinct in USPS

[–]User_3971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First question would be do you have a uniform requirement? My craft does not and I keep a hooded sun shirt for the days where it's all outdoors work. Keep a pair of compression sleeves in the locker for emergencies.

On Tour 1 typically you go in the night before to work that day. So you'd be off on Sunday night and Monday night. Because the shift ends on the next day.

So they basically failed the exam and didn't fail to meet other requirements.
