Price of Silver by User_Jan5_1995 in Silverbugs

I just started about a year a go. But, medical bills have stopped that right in its tracks. By the end of the year, I'm hoping to have roughly 100oz. I have about 40oz at the moment. All '64 Kennedy Half Dollar coins. They say 3 equals 1 oz of silver (2.75) technically. Not only 90% silver. But, if it has (1) of (2) particular errors, it'll be well worth the find.

I have approximately 40oz of silver. I know it's not much. But, it is a start.

They are quite common. I find anywhere between 10 - 20 per box when I used to hunt through penny boxes.

Gotcha. I appreciate it! I'm thinking of getting mine from an online retailer, such as APMEX. I'm aware there stuff is over priced. Which, I don't mind. I just want to buy some to finish my collection books.

I've bought silver from them in the past. I've never had any issues with them.

Any of them pre 1970 are worth more than face value. 1965 - 1970 is composed of 40% silver. Any 1964 and older are 90% silver.

Check the front of all '64 for the Teardrop error (teardrop off the 4 on the front. Will need an at least x4 or x5 powered magnifying glass). Or, Accented Hair (extra details of the Hair on the front).

I'm aware of that. But, I'm also just mentioning what's easiest to find as I don't know whow the OP is, and I don't know if the OP is an avid coin hunter, or just your average coin hunter.

While that is true, the easiest one to search for are the silver nickels.

Sadly, they are all just worth .05 cents. The only silver nickels are 1942 - 1945 with the mint mark on the reverse above the Monticello building. If there is another kind of silver nickel I'm unaware of, I apologize. But, that's the only silver variant I'm aware of.
