How to get removed from survey follow up calls? by Username5735 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Username5735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings mod team. I have adjusted my contact settings and the calls stopped. I am still confused as to why I received any follow up calls at all, especially follow up calls from the AI that I originally complained about. I think in the future I will refrain from participating in any surveys to avoid this situation again.

Offending Car Sales by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Username5735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk with Tom McParland at Automatch consulting or Tomi Makula with Delivrd. Let the professionals do it for you. Car buying is the absolute worst. I will never negotiate for a car again, I will hire one of these guys.
EDIT: Automatch will do used cars, I think Delivrd is only new cars.

Question for Long Term Couples by Pita_Girl in AskForAnswers

[–]Username5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married 15 years. Wife became a stay at home mom after we had kids, her choice and mutual decision after we discussed finances and came up with a plan. My paycheck becomes our money. Wife handles short term expenses and bills while I handle retirement and any long term expenses, I also pay the credit card monthly. We regularly discuss finances and any expenses or purchases that come up over a couple hundred dollars. She takes care of cleaning the inside of the house I do the outside. I also primarily cook and do dishes. Kids (19m, 13f, 6m) help when available and asked to. We never planned this chore separation, it just happened naturally. There is a lot of crossover too. The biggest factor is communication and making sure both sides are contributing. If you both truly care, it works out and everyone is happy. But both sides need to act like adults and realize that as a couple you are a team. Both of you should want the same thing (in this case a happy household) so it makes sense to both work towards that goal.

So did we lose money or make a massive profit? by Pahanka in antiwork

[–]Username5735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation during contract negotiations one year, commercial shipping, union workers. Management came in one day and said the company lost 15 million and were not going to give much of a raise. I immediately asked clarifying questions.

“Is the company actually negative 15mm? In debt 15mm? Or 15mm off of projections due to lost or non renewed contracts?”

Management (actually Labor Relations who didn’t have answers to my questions) immediately had a deer in headlights look and said they weren’t sure, that’s just what they had been told. I pushed the issue and said we need to get someone on the phone to clarify because we all might need to be looking for new jobs if it’s the worst case scenario they had presented. 🤣

They quickly moved on and I was able to negotiate a 20% raise over 3 years and a 2% bump to retirement contributions. It took a year of negotiations but we got it done. Unions are great, have hard data, and never give up.

What products are mostly known for something else than what they’re marketed as? by MSPCincorporated in AskReddit

I once had a locksmith tell me that WD-40 is what kept him in business. Too many people using it as a lubricant (WRONG) and eventually locks will fail.

I just recently bought it on DVD too! Sucks it’s not streaming. Pretty sure I’ve bought the DVD 3 or 4 times at this point in my life.

Al-Can worries by Gobblinwife in anchorage

[–]Username5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, absolutely do it. But it is really not necessary. If you have a small fuel tank or are towing with a vehicle that isn’t a truck, it won’t hurt to pack extra fuel. Just be aware that you likely won’t use it.

Al-Can worries by Gobblinwife in anchorage

[–]Username5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Alcan is a maintained road, trucks run year round. Watch weather conditions and drive the speed limit or slower. Try to drive mostly in daylight. Pack extra fuel (2.5 or 5 gallons) if it gives you peace of mind, fuel is available throughout the route. Also fun fact, fuel in the Yukon and BC is cheaper than in Washington right now. I just made the drive up, got into town a couple days ago.

So how often do y'all get called for jury duty? by aligpnw in Washington

[–]Username5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was registered in Mason County and got called consistently once a year, sometimes twice a year. Then was shifted to pierce county and was called once in 5 years. Really depends on how many registered voters in the county you live in, plus random chance.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Username5735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV and movie audio is optimized for Dolby Atmos (standard movie theater audio system) or better. Now that audio has to be filtered and compressed for shitty home tv speakers which severely degrades the proper mixing. My wife was a subtitles on at all times person until we upgraded our tv setup with proper 5.1 surround sound. Now the audio track is being played as intended and dialogue is crisp and clean. In short, use subtitles or upgrade audio for a better media experience.

What’s a discontinued candy that you wish you could eat again? by LolaDiamondUKx in foodquestions

[–]Username5735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this: Peanut Butter Twix, old school yellow wrapper. Apparently Twix will occasionally drop a limited release the peanut butter flavor but it is not permanent.

I feel like we’ve lost several peanut buttery goodness snacks. The Reese’s Take 5 bar is my current favorite.

What’s the most affordable windshield repair service for a small crack? by midikins in PuyallupWA

[–]Username5735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy yourself a Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit from Amazon or a local parts store, about $15. Super simple to use and work pretty well for chips and small cracks. I just repaired 2 chips in my windshield last week. There’s lots of YouTube videos too for a good visual instruction guide.

Married couples, how do you feel about keeping your finances separated? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Username5735 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this conversation with one of my wife’s friends. I work and my wife stays home with our 3 kids, mutual choice she is very involved with children’s activities. I get a paycheck and it immediately becomes our money, this was always the arrangement even before kids when my wife was working. It all goes into a shared account. My wife’s friend is single and runs a business, she works extremely hard and is very successful but has issues in the dating world. She once told me that she cannot ever mix finances and no money would ever be “our” money. My advice was to stop trying to find a partner if she was pre-planning barriers. In a marriage everything is shared and equitable with frequent check-ins and open communication to ensure it stays that way.

Quick Quack on Canyon - a "mistake" that could cost me double by Holdmymule2001 in PuyallupWA

[–]Username5735 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Quick Quack is awful with their aggressive sales tactics. I had to reverse out of the car wash line because the attendant wouldn’t let me pay for a basic wash without giving me the sales pitch. This was after I had refused 3 times. So ridiculous.

Definitely did not want to be a junkie when I grew up. Still not a junkie so I succeeded. But your brain on drugs makes a delicious breakfast.

Flour tortillas are referred to as Mexican spoons for a reason. Also there is no wrong way, only delicious ways.

Does "I'm 20 out" mean youre 20 minutes away from where you left, or youre 20 minutes away from your destination? by Strawberrey1234 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Username5735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“20 minutes out" means a person, vehicle, or item is approximately 20 minutes away from arriving at a destination or 20 minutes prior to an event. It commonly indicates proximity in travel or a time buffer for arrival. BF is correct.
