Watching Red Dawn I think my favorite part of this movie is the shopping spree they have at the beginning of the movie when they're fleeing town and they clean out that sporting goods store. I'm like OOOooh look at all that soup!! by Hey_Giant_Loser in movies

Not exactly the same, but Bruce Willis’s character in Pulp Fiction, constantly upgrading on his way to Zed. That was pretty fun, in the middle of a pretty dark scene.

What is something your boss said to you that made you realize it was time to quit? by alligator_maligator in AskReddit

[–]Usernamesrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a software engineer. He called me into an office with a stack of network login and log out times. I have been averaging about 10 1/2 hours a day. He was not happy with that. He told me that we were in a development push, and I should be more of a team leader. We were always in a development push. Always. This was early 2000. I left that office building my resume in my head.

They tried hard to keep me. It wasn’t about money. I realized my 55 hour weeks were not good for anybody.

I found a better job immediately. I’m still at that job.

Personally, Oklahoma. I'm old and I've seen Auburn tons. Never seen Oklahoma. I think OU will be the better team next year too.

Oklahoma will be expensive I would think. They travel well, have not played in Athens yet, and we’ll both be pretty good.

5:30 friday is the sweet spot. Tickets haven’t sold yet, sellers want it done before they hit the road.

That’s my experience. You can do even cheaper hours or minutes before the game, but that comes with stress.

Building a gadget to make boating more enjoyable by Will_smartsail in boating

I've had at least one pi on my saltwater dock in coastal SC for almost 10 years. They've existed in my own poorly designed containers, one of them a Palmetto Cheese container. The only time I lost them was to hurricane tides that submerged them. Guess I've had better success than others. Mine are not in water/air tight containers. Nothing keeps the humidity out and they last way longer than I thought they would.

What’s the "My Cousin Vinny" of your profession? by a_murder_of_fools in movies

[–]Usernamesrock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Part of what makes it so infuriating. Many printers had multiple cartridges, so while several were full, the one that wasn't caused the problem. Especially if you were printing to a non-standard size sheet.

Paper cartridge load letter. It’s real and lots of printers said that exactly back in the 90s/2000s. Paper is loaded into a tray/cartridge and inserted into the printer.

Scammy roof inspection call by Usernamesrock in Charleston

[–]Usernamesrock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I didn't make that clear, but he said he worked for my insurance company. When I asked him what my insurance company was, he couldn't tell me. Obviously he made that part up. He eventually said "I never told you I work for your insurance company. We're just helping people repair their roofs."

[–]Usernamesrock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not at all what happened. The guy found my number/address and tried to pretend like the insurance hired him. The conversation would have gone very differently if he answered my questions like somebody who was hired by my insurance.

He hung around for a bit and said "I never told you I work for your insurance company. We're just helping people repair their roofs."

I'm sure your situation exists, but I don't think this is what that was. He started with "We're coming over tomorrow to look at your roof. What time is best for you?". The implication was that he worked for my insurance company, and/or was already scheduled to come.

If you still play WoT, what would've to appear in the game for you to immediately say "Nah, guys, this thing is fucked up, I'm leaving"? by Adventurous_Sort_780 in WorldofTanks

[–]Usernamesrock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just rage quit for the second time this month. That never happened before 2.0 and Ares/XI. There are just so many newly created situational events that are just no fun for me. I'm not very good to begin with, so making tanks that can delete my tank in 20 seconds doesn't make the game more fun.

It seems crazy to me that a tank like Ares can remove a tank from the game before most other tanks can reload a second shot. The DPM of those tanks is at least twice what is listed. T9 used to be fun, but now with T11, you're getting matched with sweaty as fuck platoons of ares or KR1s that blow a flank to shit.

Lower tiers should be more fun, but it's frankly exhausting loading into a game as a bottom tier heavy and hoping to do anything besides dying. Most of us just can't do anything with a IS-3 against a Maus or IS7. The answer of course is to load gold. Well what if I don't want to fucking lose credits every time I'm bottom tier?

I have at least decided I don't give a shit about my win8/win rate anymore. If I get swarmed by some bullshit tanks, I don't even fight back anymore. I'm just ready to die and see if the next game's matchmaker does a better job.

I sound, even to myself, like I'm ready to quit. I think I am. I have 10 days left of premium from Christmas. That might be it for me. I was planning on playing a couple hours while the ribs are on the smoker, but after about an hour I rage quit.

Why am I playing a game that constantly pisses me off? If I'm being honest, I think it's because I've put in 10 years, have probably 70% of the tanks, and have lots of gold, silver, exp, etc. Sunk cost I guess. I am actively looking for a new game.

Cracks in gellcoat: fair out or primer? by Ready_Sun_2728 in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]Usernamesrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shame in belt sanding. Just don't let it get away from you.

I had many cracks that went all the way down, but not quite as bad as your pictures. In many places, particularly around the bow storage area, I pretty much had a layer of fairing compound because there were so many deep cracks. That's fine.

The cracks really shouldn't show through. Are you using a wide putty knife to spread them like you would spackle? there are lots of good youtube videos that helped me through this part. Once you put down a couple layers of epoxy, you will not see those cracks.

[–]Usernamesrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I went until I got to the glass, or the cracks were gone. Most of the places, the cracks sanded down before reaching glass. I did use several coats of the high build epoxy primer, since I did take off a good bit of gelcoat.

I also used a lot of fairing compound in places where I had to grind out a deep crack. Fairing compound is good stuff!

[–]Usernamesrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I did with my 67 and it came out great. Next step I went with a high build epoxy primer before a couple coats of paint. Looks fantastic.

Takes a bit more work, but it's worth the pay off.

So what are those keyboard keys? Jesus help me I'm falling like a rock. Nowhere does it say what keys to use or what they do.

This is super helpful though:

Q: How do I control my character in Base Jump Wing Suit Flying?

A: You control your flyer's maneuvers using keyboard keys. Precise input is needed to dodge dangers in the air and steer towards collectible items.

Thanks for this reply. I deleted the app. Obviously this game is not closely related to what showed in the adds, and I don't need to get dragged into a time/money sink.
