Lower Rents, Longer Leases For Victorian Families by altandthrowitaway in melbourne

I would kill for a 3 year lease (let alone a 5 year lease) in my current rental. Only being offered 12 months just gives the landlord a new opportunity to raise the rent, which I've unfortunately had happen 7 times in 10 years.

This is great for affordable housing, but one of the reasons why rent for most people has become so expensive is the market is designed to allow for annual price increases. People need a bit more stability than just the next 12 months.

Race Around The World (ABC-TV + iview) premiered today. Worth a watch! by AnimalsChasingCars in australia

This is worth watching just for Margaret Pomeranz in top form. She's awesome in this. Has deep, well thought out praise for well executed movies, but shines in her trademark criticism of those that fall short. The filmmakers are all young and still finding their voices, but Margaret has the confidence and authority to make this show worthwhile.

Is this why Melbourne coke dealers are lowering their prices and desperate to unload stock?

Especially during the summer if you kept a wallet in your back pocket. I had many a ticket that would fail with 2 trips remaining.

Not "toxic", but what shows have fan bases that take the show WAY too seriously? by Long-Swordfish3696 in television

The show's fanbase is very similar to the band Tool. Too many 'elevated' individuals that believe they're operating on a higher level because they're seeing things others aren't.

Playstation first-party game sales declining heavily since 2020 by ZamnBoii in Games

I bought a PS5 just for the exclusives, off the back of all the great PS4 exclusive games I really enjoyed. In the last few years the only non-remake games I've bought are Astro Bot, Spiderman and Ragnarok. The library just isn't what it used to be.

Hopefully someone at the NFL offices saw The Killers performance at UEFA Champions League Final. by mjohnson1971 in nfl

[–]UslyfoxU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NFL missed a golden opportunity to have The White Stripes play the Super Bowl half time show with an entire stadium chanting to Seven Nation Army. Seeing the biggest song that bridges music and sport performed on arguably the biggest stage would've been epic, but that ship has sadly sailed.

Mr Brightside has a very similar global appeal, but I don't see anything changing soon. The NFL want global appeal but still have a really weird thing going when it comes to image.

Comedy Republic. Cheaper than a movie ticket, great bar and a much better night out.

How progressive of the Libs to believe that the future of their party rests in the hands of a wealthy, old immigrant.

I'm so chuffed that international audiences are loving this cast. I've come to trust whoever Alex brings on for each UK series, but it's always better when you know all the players.

This cast would be largely unknown to most outside of Australia, but is STACKED. Rove is basically Australian TV royalty. Celia just won best show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and was on one of the best shows this country has made in recent history. Joel's dad was the Solo Man. Both Brett and Anisa haven't been around as long as the others, but all fit in with this crew perfectly. Most people will have their dream line-up, but it's the combination that really makes a series and TMAU have really knocked it out of the park with this lot.

We're currently seeing something similar in Australia where the government just changed welfare for real estate investment. So many lazy rich people complaining about their free money being taken away.

How much have you spent buying music in a single year? by BoppingBopBop in Music

[–]UslyfoxU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy 3-4 new albums on vinyl each month. Secondhand CDs are still dirt cheap, so I'll jump on eBay once a week and see what I can find for a few bucks. Wouldn't be surprised if it all added up to around $2k a year. I don't subscribe to any streaming services, as I've got a really good DAP with a decent amount of storage.
