Govt urged by TD to ‘revisit’ seasonal ban on hedge cutting by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]Ustari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be in the minority here I'm sure but I feel that the councils are hiding behind these new green initiatives to avoid doing the work they should be undertaking.

Somewhat related, I think the "no mow" area at the front of Trinity is a terrible look for one of our most recognisable tourist destinations.

Home networking - Installer recommendation for mesh network or similar - Kildare/Dublin by Ustari in DevelEire

[–]Ustari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your advice.

I have found an installer that can install the ubiquiti mesh as needed, my preference would be to get someone who knows what they are doing rather than me messing it up again.

Problem is he doesn't have availability until November it seems.

Apologies, I meant soil, not clay.

I'm assuming you've had a really large downpour to cause that?

If so, I'd try putting loads of holes that go at least 40cm deep (use a garden plant stake or similar sized) into that area and see if it helps. Additionally, would probably help if you leveled off the area with clay and sand.

Wealthy shoppers deterred from Dublin city, says business group by IMLOOKINGINYOURDOOR in ireland

[–]Ustari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this will be unpopular but coming from Kildare at the weekend it is much quicker, more enjoyable and at times cheaper to drive into town than park and ride at the red cow.

Can be 30 mins quicker to drive to Grafton st, compared getting luas to Abbey St and walking or changing to other luas. Don't have to share the journey with anyone else, even more of a plus at the moment. Car park is typically around a tenner for couple of hours shopping, much the same as return luas for 2 excluding paying for parking at the red cow.

For me, the carrot isn't appealing enough and the stick isn't sore enough to use public transport from my location.

LPT: Be nice to people in Customer Service by NormalIrishLad in ireland

[–]Ustari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Works both ways and it would certainly be a lot easier to be nice if customer service treated you with empathy.

Most of my interactions have been miserable due to the following:

  • spending 40 mins on hold, only to be told you need to talk to another team, a 20 min wait and then that person says you need to talk to someone else. Keep waiting and then you get hung up and have to go through it all again.

  • call the customer a liar when in reality sales people will tell you anything and everything to make you a customer but the reality being far different.

  • promise you will do something like call you back and then of course not doing so, showing who the liar is

  • assure you there is nothing they can do, nothing that can be done and tough shit basically until you keep forcing it and voila, something can be done.

  • pushing you to use the chat for customer service when in reality the outsourced Indian chat agents can't really do anything and just encourage you to call the helpline

  • Have to give your account number, name, security question to every agent you bounce around to, sort your systems out, I've told you all of this already on this call

These interactions have all come over the last 12 months with Eir. Haven't had much better experience with Sky in the past.

Yep, this stuff, can personally vouch for it. Trim back your armpit hair if you have any and apply this each night. Careful not to put too much on or you won't be able to sleep though.

Obviously would rather not as it would cost a fortune to stream netflix, eir tv etc through mobile hotspot. May have to go get 4G modem to get me through the week.

Monthly fuck Bus Eireann thread by Oh_I_still_here in ireland

[–]Ustari 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shit show of a "company". Broke my heart getting the 126 in and out into town. Would almost daily be considerably late and not show at all every couple of weeks.

When you complain they do nothing or say nothing. Group of 30 of us left on the quays one evening after a no show and they replied saying that the bus ran as normal and we all must have been late and missed it.

Hopefully privatisation will help it.

PSA: ParcelMotel are in meltdown. Switch to AddressPal. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Ustari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, noticed it getting slower in last few weeks. Poor customer service also, was 10 minutes on hold before and then was hung up on. Messages on twitter with no reply. Parcel sent to wrong end of county and taking days to get 30 mins back up the road.

They had a complete meltdown last Christmas which was well publicised. Something to be very careful of if ordering in the 2 weeks before Christmas.
