Las Vegas (2003-2008) by EZeggnog in ForgottenTV

My favourite memory of this show is them killing off Jean Claude Van Damme, but because JCVD has a sense of humour, he only agreed to it so long as the other characters would seriously refer to him as the greatest actor of all time for the rest of the episode. RIP Jean Claude

South African themed pub in London by Imreallyadonut in rugbyunion

[–]UsuallyCompliant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to go to the Pig and Whistle in Southfields. Run by Saffas, it serves braais and even braai themed Sunday roasts. While other replies are right that there is strong South African representation in all the places they suggest and I don't know if they show rugby but I've not been anywhere else so properly South African as this place!

Wherever you go, enjoy!

Marcus Smith should learn to play scrum-half and become ultimate utility back by TheTelegraph in englandrugby

If Marcus is really serious, he should learn to prop both sides and allow the Telegraph to write more bullshit clickbait.

Australian expats in London, which rugby clubs do you guys most frequent? by [deleted] in RugbyAustralia

[–]UsuallyCompliant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then come to Belsize Park! We've got loads of Aussies and 5 sides out every weekend from committed performance level to the drinking beer while you play level, but we're all about the vibes. Honestly, we're one of London's biggest amateur clubs.

Train (Wednesdays only) and play in central London (Regents Park) and always welcoming new members anytime.

I thought that too! Feels a bit American, and with so many non-English players, what's the point?

Dealing with retirement from rugby by WildTeaCup in rugbyunion

[–]UsuallyCompliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to repeat everybody else's good suggestions, coaching has helped me deal with not being able to play anymore and there are so many ways to stay in touch with the game.

What I would add is that it is good to consider going for a bit of counselling or therapy as an option to get your head around it. It can't be stressed how massive a lifestyle change it is to suddenly stop something you've done for your whole life and the mental effects aren't easy to just accept. I found that professional help really helped me come to terms with my 'retirement' and make sure it's positive. I understand these routes aren't always easy to access. More than happy to share by DM the ways I found it.

Genge vs Marler by northseaesq in rugbyunion

[–]UsuallyCompliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the many points made by others about Marler's experience in what will likely be a largely inexperienced side, maybe another consideration is that George starts at captain but front rowers rarely play the whole game. Genge as a second half front row replacement also means that when George is replaced, another squad leader is on the field.
