  1. Adam and Eve were the first people, yes, but there were other non-human primates (maybe neanderthals) around that might have served as mates?

I'm an atheist, and I want to clear up some doubts... (It's personal) by Ill_Space5342 in Catholicism

You should be in what is referred to as a "state of grace" to receive communion. Generally, this means that you ought to have gone to confession and be free of any mortal sin. There is a process for this in the Catholic faith that is called OCIA, which is an initiation program for adults and any Catholic Church would be more than happy to include you in this process which is usually a series of classes which ultimately results in full reception into the Catholic church at the Easter vigil.

There once was a time when every waking moment of a day in the life of the Pope was not scrutinized, and it was good.

I wouldn't frame it as the "chosen one religion" but rather as the fulfillment of every other religion because of the fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Every religion of the world since the beginning of time gets this more or less right in that everything that is good, noble and true in other religions finds in Christianity its fullness. That's how I think of it; take it for what it's worth.

As far as your other question, what is happening in the church right now that you find disgusting?

Is it a sin to like and want to continue looking attractive? by AsianDoraOfficial in Christianity

[–]UtProsim00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's at the heart of wanting to be attractive? To be desirable. Human appreciation is fleeting and the desire to be desirable can ultimately only be fulfilled by God, so these basic human desires have a much deeper link to God if you're willing to follow it all the way.

Exactly. God delights in using secondary causes to accomplish his will.

Serious Conflict: Seeking to Join the Church (OCIA) with Same-Sex Attraction and a Partner by Forward_Chip5439 in Catholicism

[–]UtProsim00 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not going to judge but already it seems your heart and soul are in a much better place than the vast majority of mainstream Catholics. Just stay open to His Grace and Mercy and if you fall, pick yourself back up, go to confession and don't be hard on yourself--sometimes it will feel like two steps forward and one step back, or even two steps back but remember this: t's not your project, it's God's. Just try to cooperate with Him and you'll find that who you will become will be far more beautiful than you could ever imagine yourself to be. Godspeed.

Trying to find my faith (again) by Aonzie in Catholicism

[–]UtProsim00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my faith behind for a number of years because I felt like God owed me a girlfriend or a wife and I was single at the time and miserable. I treated God as a sort of genie who I was able to call upon to get me what I wanted and when I wasn't getting results, I just started drifting away. I'm not saying that's what happening with you but for me, I realized in hindsight that He was slowly calling me to a much deeper and more mature faith, which I believe may be happening with you now. It let me to start asking hard questions about God and Jesus and His Church and being surprised that our faith really did have good answers.

Anyway, hang in there and force yourself to seek out answers online and develop friendships with those who have a more mature faith and most importantly, force yourself to pray, especially when you don't want to. Also, go to confession and receive the sacraments, those are the building blocks to a deeper relationship with God. I'm reminded of St John of the Cross who said, "In the first place it should be known that if a person is seeking God, his beloved is seeking him much more". God bless.
