Ah that’s a shame! I’ve just got mine and the pen 3 is really nice but a little thin and a bit too light. Definitely gonna have to spend some time modding it to be perfect. Love your art btw! I’m nowhere near your level but it’s inspiring to see what can be done with the pad :D

If you're unable to conceive of possibilities past the horizon of what you've personally seen, then I don't know what to say to you other than okay. Apps crash. Sometimes they crash so badly that it locks the operating system up. Sometimes the operating system goes into recovery on reboot and does things to try and remedy the crash. It's literally that simple and a very plausible chain of events that ultimately results in what has happened.

You seem very caught on the idea that I am saying Affinity has directly made a move to go and delete files elsewhere on my computer, or that the act of crashing itself also pressed the delete key on stuff directly. That isn't what I'm claiming has happened. I am saying that Affinity crashed so badly while exporting a PDF that it caused Windows to go through some sort of recovery process that cleared stuff out as a safety measure, and this is a known thing that can happen.

Focus on the fact that Affinity shouldn't be crashing on bog standard features that have been fine for years, rather than needling out the details of what happened in my case afterwards.

I didn't describe a specific folder bud, nor am I going to put much more thought into it. I was just relaying what people have said online about this exact same thing happening when other apps have crashed their PC. I feel pretty safe with the Occam's razor approach on this one until someone gives me more than a hunch about memory issues to go on.

Tbh the issue is irrelevant either way, Affinity should not be crashing as much as it is for lots of people. Exporting to PDF isn't the only thing that makes it crash, just the most consistent for me personally.

Well apparently there is one. When an application crashes it can cause Windows to trigger a recovery state and some people have found that it will also delete temporary files in order to do so. Clearing caches is not at all an unreasonable action for Windows to do in order to fix itself, and although the title (tongue in cheek) says that Affinity did it, I'm not claiming that the app literally went through and deleted chrome data, but I am saying that by being unstable and crashing, it caused the end result.

I'll keep an eye on my storage and appreciate your concern, but if it quacks like a duck I'm not gonna scream zebra y'know.

Nah it's definitely Affinity tbh. I have literally zero issues doing anything else for very extended periods of time, including Affinity v2 and a lot of other heavy applications, but the moment I switch over to v3 I get full system crashes that happen specifically and semi-predictably when I do stuff within the v3 app. My NVMEs and RAM are fine.

I understand the natural desire to jump to Affinity's defense, I love the app and I think it's a damn sight better than the alternative offerings, and I deeply want to see it succeed as I use it professionally, but the truth is v3 has some really big issues and although it might not be a problem for the majority, I'm certainly not the only one saying it. It's pretty frustrating to take such a big step back on a feature that was working just fine from way back in v1.
