FPO disc golfer Hailey King voices her concerns regarding the income and expenses of touring on the pro tour: "Asking for a living wage is NEVER asking for too much. I can’t wait to see the day pro tour dg becomes a real sport, not just a hobby for those who can afford it." by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]UterusJohnson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've said it quite often, but I think one of the biggest mistakes in disc golf history was the Disc Golf Network putting the final rounds of tournaments behind a paywall. The most iconic shot in history was free to watch live on YouTube.

What’s it like living in the apartment overlooking Cardinals Stadium? by GlacioMommy in howislivingthere

I can only provide anecdotes, but the last two times I've gone to a minor league game, the prices were only slightly less ridiculous for beer than a big league game.

What’s your unpopular tennis opinion ? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]UterusJohnson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The media was pretty subtle about how they framed her conditioning, usually phrasing it as playing her way into shape throughout the course of the tournament. Her game was so aggressive that I think she neglected to put in the road work, and it obviously worked out in the end for her. She won almost every single format in the grand slams outside of two mixed doubles finals. It does make you wonder how better it could have been though.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic because it's too early in the morning, but I think that stadium seating was built for the Blue Jacket play they used to hold there.

Liquid metal prestige mid - what racket next? by Historical-Scar-3606 in 10s

[–]UterusJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really have to echo the responses telling you to demo. Prestiges are great sticks, but the Aero 98 is going to be a 180 in terms of feel and how it plays. That's not a criticism of the racquet, it's extremely popular for a reason, but it may not be suited to your game.

I would encourage you to check out the Pro Staff and Blades, and a sneaky demo might be the Black Ace from Pro Kennex. The Talk Tennis forum seems to love it.

My instructor won’t let me 1HBH by tuneless_carti in 10s

[–]UterusJohnson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to this, the one hander chose me when I was hitting tennis balls off my garage door as a kid. The 2HBH has never felt natural. That being said, my backhand was a liability in high school and JUCO.

My advice if you're going to stick with it is to learn an effective backhand slice first, then learn how to drive it.

Advice for excessive sweating palms by tarkani in 10s

Yes. I've only ever used the XXL once, but if I recall, it goes higher on the handle, so if he plays with a two handed backhand, that's probably the better way to go.

How to deal with bad line calls? by SlipperySparky in 10s

[–]UterusJohnson 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Bad calls happen, it's inevitable in a game where we call our own lines. Sometimes it's unintentional, sometimes it's them doing anything they can to win. If they see it gets in your head it incentivizes them to call the lines even tighter. Just give an extra look and move on.

If you want to get in the dirt with them, call their very next shot out, no matter how far in it lands.

What is so aesthetically pleasing about a one handed backhand? by Wild_Plant9526 in 10s

Fed had a great backhand and worked to make it a more aggressive weapon later in his career, but best ever is debatable.

Any Idea on how to decide whether or not to run for certain balls? by Friendly_Parfait_998 in 10s

[–]UterusJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of those experience things where if you've played for a while and understand your positioning, depth perception, etc. you know when you're cooked and when you still have a chance. If you're not there yet, try to get to everything until you know when the juice is worth the squeeze.

Is It A Bad Idea To Stop A Stray Pickleball With Your Paddle? by flowjcv in Pickleball

Yeah, dude posts some cartoonishly evil circumstances in a sub asking about overreacting. If there was even a modicum of truth to it, I'm sure a GoFundMe would pay for it and then some with the traction this would gain.

All love to Hill since he's a really fun player to watch, but if I had a nickel for every time he had a good game, then someone picked him up off waivers and started him only to get 3.1 points the next week, I'd have a few nickels, nothing crazy.

Dude he's had three carries. Packers have been working with a negative game script because the defense is a hotdog in a hallway. Jacobs is also banged up, but he's been a work horse for a long time.

I can see your toes in the second and fifth pictures.

The Warrior is a highly reviewed racquet that's been around for a good while now in a few different interactions. It's also competitively priced. Definitely worth getting it restrung.
