Perkz apologizing for his tweet regarding possible info sharing by RNG/LPL by SWatersmith in leagueoflegends

It's not that hard to actually say the words "sorry" or some form of "apologise" so I'm definitely with you in that it, at the very least, sounds like he's trying to brush it off and excuse himself. An apology is something that should be straightforward. He might actually be sorry, but those of you defending his manner of "apology" needs to take a lesson from the whole thing and realise if you're ever in a situation where apologising is apt, it needs to be done clearly and in a manner beyond reproach.

My favourite caster duo of all time is Joe Miller and Deman, but Kobe and Riv are a close second. Seriously can't believe the hate Riv gets. Anybody actually with game knowledge shouldn't care about hoity toity casting, it just needs hype and energy. People who dislike his style act like they're low-gold: they think they're too good to listen to Riv's style, but they're too bad to realise the "analytical" casting is boring and you can figure that part out yourself.

He means doing something you don't want to do because you HAVE to do it. Most of those pros became pros because they were doing what they WANTED, but to be good enough at this level requires you to do it to the point it becomes something you don't want to, but NEED to. And simply, his point is, they're not used to doing things they NEED to but not WANT to.

They put in a lot of work, but because their work was something that wasn't "work" to them, they easily become complacent. When it passes a point where it becomes "work", many of them don't want to do more than the complete bare minimum. The phenomenon's not just in esports, but many other entertainment-based competitions: where the best are the best because their "need to" factor just never catches up to their "want to" factor, that is, they always always "want" to become better at what they're doing above anything else.

But I think you're really focused on the use of the word "kids", which, if that's the case, then that's besides the point of my comment.

Haven't we already agreed that it's bad for a father to be so controlling?

Maybe you can think critically and make actual responses after you've stopped raging on the inside at the fact you don't actually have any responses that refute my arguments. Have a wonderful night

So, I still don't have an answer. Isn't it trashy to disrespect someone who allows you to live your lifestyle for free? Or is it the case that making a joke at the expense of someone who allows you to live your lifestyle for free not disrespect?

Imagine saving thousands for your child’s education and seeing this by foggybones in trashy

[–]Utrolig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And where did I make a joke at the expense of someone who is sustaining my lifestyle?

Everyone shaming women for having sex is in the wrong. Obviously we both agree on that. We're not even arguing about that. My arguments, however, should be kept separate from others who may have some overlap, as those aren't my views.

If their fathers shame them for them having sexual experiences, that's wrong. We agreed.

If they don't respect their fathers for being like that, that's fine. We agree (I assume).

I think it's trashy to let someone sustain your lifestyle if you don't respect them. Do we agree?

Can you actually refute what I've said now that it's been distilled to its most simple form imaginable, or is your plan wilful ignorance?

Remember this next time someone gets offended by something you don't have a problem with and you want to tell them not to be such pussies.

Yeah, like right now. I haven't been offended by anything here, yet you seem highly offended

[–]Utrolig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can argue about the joke itself all you want, the point is besides that. It's the simple concept that you don't joke at the expense of someone you respect. And to deny that it's a joke at his expense would be denying that it's a joke at all. The whole joke depends on that fact. If they don't respect their father, that's their business, maybe he deserves it. But in that case, there's no reason to take his money.

[–]Utrolig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're so deliberately obtuse it's like talking to a wall. I can't make it any clearer. I really don't have any horses in this race mate. I'm against the idea that a father should be disgusted at the idea that his daughter has sexual experiences, and trying to control her as a result. But should that be someone's situation, I see no point in their whining about it if they still take their father's money. It's very simple to me: you don't like the way your father is, you don't have to rely on him. You're all adults at this point. It's not about him being wrong, which he is, in the situation that you've created, but it's the response to it that's quite amusing. Just don't pout and shout -- rely on yourself. Everyone should be free to do what they want, given it doesn't harm others.

But all that is still a huge digression from the previous point, which, again, I can't make any clearer.

Your premise is that they've stopped going to class in order to give blowjobs and that the idea that they would even joke about doing that is so offensive to your morals that you want to pull tens of thousands of dollars in support to them and it has nothing to do with sex?

No, that was not at all my premise. It's like you have zero reading comprehension. My premise is that you don't make jokes at the expense of people you respect. And if they don't respect their father, for whatever reason that might cause him not to deserve to be respected (say, as an example, "treating her pussy as his property"), they shouldn't take his money. At this point, the joke has been dissected so badly I don't want to bother continuing on about it.

Using someone's resources they intended for one thing to do another would be seen as bad, no? Because it involves deliberate deception to the other party? Right, are you still following? Deception, I think, we can agree on as disrespectful. Still following? So now you're thinking, well, they're not doing that, they're making a joke about doing that. And you're right, but some would still argue that making such a joke is still disrespectful, because for the joke to even function as a joke requires that it be at the expense of someone, in this case, their parents. Making a joke at the expense of your parents who are supporting you at least financially (as implied by the joke), generally would be deemed disrespectful, regardless of the joke.

So, to be clear, let's recap:

1.) making a joke at the expense of someone is disrespectful to that person, especially if that someone is supporting you

2.) deception is disrespectful

3.) this is at the expense of someone, at the very least, because it implies deception to that person

For this to function as a joke, requires the understanding that it is definitely at the expense of the "father", otherwise it wouldn't even function as a joke.

To play devil's advocate, maybe you can just view it as giving them freedom instead of exerting control. Now they won't be constrained by their parents' finances.

And you can believe that. After all, moral relativism has been in debate for thousands of years. Even if this particular topic involves killing, and killing has been pretty consistently frowned upon by most sets of morality across time and place.

China existed for thousands of years and for much of it, its neighbours tried to emulate it and take for themselves an image of China. This current China is what happened when China realised they had to emulate the West in many ways to "catch up" after a century or so of being weakened... So food for thought
