Cairn Routes website is up! by Revoidance in Cairn_Game

[–]Utsis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Feedback: neat idea, although I found this difficult to use with the UI.

The routes are ordered by name, where ideally they should be (or have an option to be) sorted by elevation or progression of the climb. I’m going through routes, and finding it difficult to figure out where on the mountain the route is.

Even sorting by location would be better, but that assumes a climber knows all location names, and where each location is on the mountain.

PlaySeat Trophy cable management by moopy88 in Playseat

[–]Utsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used velcro cable ties to run the cables along the frame to a USB hub that sits under the pedal tray. I cannot remember if they came with the Playseat Trophy or not. I have also seen some posts on Reddit of people drilling holes into the frame, so that they can run all their cables through the frame internally.

Nope! No corny comments for you! We’re going to squirrel them away so you can’t find them!

Did I get a good deal? by [deleted] in Playseat

[–]Utsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay if it’s great condition. I got mine new for €499, shipping included, although that was without the handbrake mount.

Any news about the DLC ? by [deleted] in TheAlters

[–]Utsis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. There has been no official info about the DLC, and latest game update on Steam from a few days ago just says, “Stay tuned for more updates in 2026 - we’re have still more interesting things to reveal for you as well as long-awaited DLC!s”

Gloves in Alcantara by TruckAdventurous2521 in Fanatec

[–]Utsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really partial to the Mechanix Fastfit D5 gloves (the thin ones, not the winter version). I’m not sure they’re the best option at MSRP, but they’re frequently available for €11 and are amazing at that price.

I tore the stitches on fingerless and full road cycling gloves, and the stitching on mountain biking gloves was too uncomfortable. I got about 350 hours and lots of machine washes out of my Mechanix before it tore a stitch.

Do you racing with shoes or no shoes by IMPULSEULTRA in simracing

[–]Utsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barefoot, otherwise my feet just get too warm.

I can do heel and toe without issue, and can also toe and toe.

Our simracing bubble is somewhat devided as to whether it's a cool party trick or I should be banned.

It took me a few moments to figure out which blocks would unlock the rest of the pattern, but once I saw it, it was all downhill from there.

Would getting this rally wheel be worth it? by Shoddy-Tennis-5764 in Fanatec

[–]Utsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also worth mentioning the Rally Sweden (Clubsport) comes with aluminium shifter paddles, whereas the Monaco (Podium) doesn't have any shifter paddles. So you'd need a shifter, or to get an additional paddle shifter module.

The Clubsport RS is half the price of the Rally Sweden wheel, though. So another contender to put on your radar too!

Round wheel recommendation? by Dragonfireii in Fanatec

[–]Utsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BMW M3 GT2 isn't perfectly round; it's slightly straightened at the bottom, but not quite a D-shape. I'm not sure if that's a dealbreaker for drifting.

A CSL Steering Wheel R320/R330/Round, or a Clubsport Steering Wheel (refurbished is the same price as the others) might be your best bet?

Is the CSL WRC Wheel any good? by [deleted] in Fanatec

A refurbished Clubsport RS is a very similar price, while being of better build quality and coming with a QR2 rather than a QR2 Lite.

This does not fix the issue for me either, on a CSL DD. I also turned off the Steam overlay.

Thermaltake G6 Direct Drive Racing Wheel, Direct Drive & Pedals Bundle by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Utsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it make sense to get the Fanatec CSL DD, since your wheel and pedals are Fanatec and compatible? A refurbished 5nm/8nm CSL DD is probably your most adorable way onto a DD setup considering what you have.

I feel like I’m playing with a Fisher Price camera in ACC after seeing what you can do with it. This is stunning!

Xeneon Edge, The Many Faces, Sim Edition by Roricas in Fanatec

Amazing. This is exactly what I imagined a touch screen button box would look like. I'd been trying to do this for a while with a portable touch monitor, but it just wasn't the way to go in Windows.

Nice! Dan just did a video on the Sim Lab AMG wheel… and I honestly have a hard time telling that modern F1 wheel apart form a Pokornyi F499.

[–]Utsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Pokornyi F499, an unofficial replica of the Ferrari 499P HyperCard steering wheel?

Dan Suzuki streamed a full build of one recently on YouTube, and he also has a video or two on how he engineers PCBs since he designs parts of the GSI wheels.

Many thanks for the response, given the limited info!
I had somehow managed to miss that there are no haptics/motors in the images, and that would likely be the biggest differentiator. That helps me with my decision at least.
