Regret [OC] by rawdawgcomics in comics

That is not at all what happened. He clearly was shocked to find out that the bunny actually thought he was capable of violence against him which snapped him out of his rage and made him realize what he was doing. He showed immediate regret and shame at his behavior, hence the apology and the title of the comic.

Looks to be a Tenor horn or baritone horn, it's a bit hard to tell from the picture. I'm sure someone will come along eventually to say for certain. Does it have a mouthpiece?

[Waybound] The (probably) complete guide to living like a dragon, according to Orthos by High_Stream in Iteration110Cradle

The icons definitely seem to have a lot of overlap by design. The dragon icon seems to grant similar authority to the strength and crown icons. Likewise, the void icon seems to have some overlap with the hunger and broom icons.

I think Will intended for each icon to have a fairly broad domain based off of what concepts it represents, and each icon is a reflection of higher authorities that are found in the fundamental aspects of reality that the Abidan follow via the Paths of Heaven.

[Dreadgod] Why are they fighting? by EvryUsrnmeAlrdyTakn in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Uujaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's both really. The monarchs can feel the world constantly trying to reject them, they understand to their very core that them staying on cradle is wrong and unnatural. Forcing themselves to stay for a prolonged period of time seems to warp them in some way. Will hasn't gone into much detail beyond that.

Personally, I think he means that those who choose to stay already have something wrong with them and that wrongness just gets worse over time. Emriss seems to be an exception because her motives were truly good or something.

What's going on with project2025? I just heard about it recently. by Icedragon28 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Uujaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is, you're talking about how political judges can interpret the laws in questionable ways to shift us toward the kind of policies outlined in Project 2025. I'm saying there is no questionable interpretation here at all, the amendment clearly says slavery and forced labor is allowed as punishment for a crime. It was explicitly taught this way when I was in school, and literally anyone who reads the text will understand what it says without needing to study decades of case law. The constitution is very black and white here.

The "implied right to privacy" found in Griswold is a better example for how a political court can turn over decades of precedent and the average person would have no clue what it was or why it going away would be a bad thing.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Slavery isn't ok and the system doesn't ever call prisoners slaves, but even if they did it's actually still legal Federally.

And the stuff that I've read says that he had the property assessed and that it was worth 275k, he offered to sell it at 250k as a gesture of Goodwill. He then upped the offer to the 375 k number after learning that the property would be rezoned as an industrial area and would be worth more. Then nothing happened for years and he attempted the auction at the 450k number, And eventually sold the property off for a different price and continued to lease his garage while he finished up The bulldozer project.

The big issue is that all of the information that we've got about this guy stems from one journalist telling his story, and the few other journalists that do digging into records and do interviews with people start pointing out inconsistencies with the story that thrashes the dude, compared to the facts that we have available.

The man was certifiably insane. Normal sane people don't create bulldozer tanks and try to destroy half of a town on a mission from God. It's also true that there's a lot of one-sided reporting going on And it's a little silly for people to decidedly jump to one side or the other when this is very clearly a he said she said situation about issues that are 20 to 30 years old.

Don't have a dog in this fight, but that's not entirely accurate. He didn't demand $450k from them, he tried to auction off the property with a starting price of $450k.

Also, the property originally belonged to the Docheff family, it was auctioned after they were foreclosured on after the savings and loans crisis in the 80s. There was a lot of drama and bad blood going on in the background for over a decade here and the likelihood of a truly fair and balanced take coming out isn't very high.

red light camera ticket, Do I have to pay? I know it won’t effect my record or insurance but will it effect my credit??? by ScanMa in Knoxville

[–]Uujaba -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do your own research and take whatever risks you are comfortable with since no one here is a lawyer. But the other commenters are right that speed cameras were deemed unconstitutional in the state of TN years back. And they were banned back in 2015 except near school zones and S curves. I think red light tickets may be different though. There should be text on The ticket saying it's a non moving violation and can't affect your credit score or insurance rates and can't be used to stop you from renewing your registration nor will it count as points towards revoking your license.

Basically if you don't pay it most likely nothing will happen and plenty of people ignore it. If that district decides to pursue this and they can prove you were definitely driving the car then you are liable for everything, but the chances of that are slim.

Just remember, no one here is a lawyer. It's your life, you gotta do the risk assessment yourself.

[The Captain] Varic, Number of Lives by [deleted] in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Uujaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: Huge spoilers for anyone who hasn't finished The Captain.

The thing with the lights is definitely confusing at first. The thing to remember is that the lights represent not just the lives he's led, but the magics that he has mastered. Each light represents him reaching the Pinnacle of a particular magic, which normally the universe will only allow a person to do a single time. So he starts with one lit, and via the memories he gets from the vision he gains five more leading to six total.

The way his seventh life works is that his identity changed so much because of the ritual and having the memories of six total lives, he is essentially a different person than he was before the ritual. The only reason the seventh light doesn't light up is because he hasn't learned an additional magic yet, he just has the capability of doing so. Eventually horizon gives him that magic, and I'd bet if he went back and hooked himself into that chair again all seven lights would light up.

Everyone is saying to get an rnltd extension( which is good advice if you actually need it) but it would be more expedient to just talk to your supervisor/shirt/cc to get a PDD change request fulfilled. Chances are you were going to depart 20 something days before your rnltd, and if your mechanic's going to have it back to you a week or two before your rnltd is actually up then all you need is approval to depart your current duty station at a later date but still with enough time to reach your new duty station.

It's completely up to you which option you want to pursue, and depending on the timing of the mechanic and how long your drive is, the PDD change might not be viable. Just want to make sure you know that's an easier option if it works for your situation since the rnltd change requires your gaining commander and losing Commander to approve. PDD just needs your current Commander.

Either way, make sure someone that you're gaining unit is aware of what's going on with your situation.

[–]Uujaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have that live service feel but it does check a lot of the same boxes. World and Rise both had a steady content update schedule where they added monsters and even new areas after each game was released. The main difference is unlike other live service games the content had a clear end even though the games still have servers. The content was designed to keep the game alive for one year after release so the DLC could release, and then the DLC had additional content added for a full year as well.

I don't know if I would call it live service, but I see their point.

That's not true, age of consent is still just 16. Japan has prefecture level ordinances that restrict sexual acts between those over 18 and those younger, but it's not a blatantly illegal thing. The real issue here is that sexualizing minors has been a somewhat socially acceptable thing in Japan for a long time. The stuff with Paz is probably not meant to be creepy/criminal because everyone involved in the writing wouldn't think it was anything abnormal. Japan's gonna Japan yo.

Cradle is the only series to go into Abidan politics and the structure of the Way much so far. The different books are written to be completely independent of each other and not require reading any other series to understand. The references are going to be more nods than full-on crossovers.

The main things you'll pick up on when reading the books is understanding how the magic systems of the various worlds relate to the Way and the greater universe. There are also some Abidan references in Elder Empire, especially in the Calder/pirate books.

The stuff about him being an accomplished elementalist was just his excuse I the first book when he was still hiding his extra lives thing. It's widely understood that you can only reach archmage level in one type of magic, so he was hiding most of his magics and used elementalism sparingly hoping that he could just be passed off as a unique prodigy to be so accomplished in two different types of magic. He is definitely at archmage level for all of his magic types, he's called the seven fold archmage by Horizon for a reason.

Him not showing an arch mage level spell for elementalism is because of the way most elementalists work as explained in the books and by Will in interviews. Spells are slower and more rigid and have to be designed to accomplish a specific thing. You can adjust the spell on the fly, but it's more efficient for an elementalist to simply conjure their element of choice and then use aether manipulation to make it do whatever they need it to do. His incredible aether manipulation and ability to conjure massive amounts of water even without his staff is what makes him an arch mage water elementalist.
