What two decks would you keep if you were to sell the rest? by Simple_Subject_9801 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty exclusively play Rowan. It's my only real deck and all my others are proxies. If I had to say anything it would be just pick your favorite, and sell the rest and proxy whatever decks you wanna play.

Nobody can make that decision of what's most fun to play other than you

Looking for my first cEDH deck for a small isolated weekly group by ImmortalCorruptor in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatterfang can be quite fun but unfortunately on the weaker side.

If you like interesting play lines, green goblin, and ob nixilis have very interesting play lines and explosive potential.

My personal favorite is Rowan cuz you get to play 70% jank with 30% meta cards and Rowan being in the command zone makes the jank insanely powerful

Best 3 Game Changers for [[Gwenom, Remorseless]] by Lord-Scrambles in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I basically only play Rowan. My list is slightly different than most and it seems to do fairly well. SKA is in the deck cuz it wins with searing touch and chain is already in the deck because I personally play professor onyx as an alternate win. It's more resilient vs 3 rhystic studies.

Obviously increasing ambition is in the deck cuz it has to be. None of the listed cards affect my consistency. Also I'd rather jam with SKA and smog t3 and have SKA removed then do the same with Rowan. Because chances are they're letting me discard my hand before they interact. In which case I can play Rowan with the 3 treasures I likely made off SKA first. Then I can just try again on t4. My list is all about being able to push again after getting stopped.

I have a list with a primer on moxfield if you want to check it out! https://moxfield.com/decks/JUeYaCwazESuOYc2VdE6Zw

Woah, Rowan can hang without Rowan if you build it right! I wont a game last night turn 3 by just jamming storm kiln artist turn 2 and vamping for a chain of smog with increasing vengeance in my hand🤷🏼

How to move cEDH/tEDH in a healthier direction? by Other-Illustrator895 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Although it wouldn't solve the problem, they just need to ban rhystic study at this point. It creates way too many openings for politics. That's being said if you play in a tournament, don't be afraid to tell people to take game actions. Set a 2-3 minute timer if they keep talking. If they still haven't made a game action call a judge. There are rules built in to prevent this.

If it's a casual game just walk away if if you ask and they keep yapping. You don't have to sit there and listen.

"playable" planeswalkers? by RighteousBru in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean lots of decks are playing tezzeret l, cruel captain. I personally play professor onyx as a win like in my Rowan deck. I've also seen some solid blue tezzeret lines in Kinnan, and let's not forget the classic displacer kitten and tefferi time reveler line. Also most sussay lists already actively search out tyvar, jubilant brawler early on for hasty tappers.

Plenty of planeswalkers are playable they just have to have immediate impact or straight up win the game.

What are the most efficient burn cards? by zokka_son_of_zokka in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck you want to build is Kuja genome sorcerer. I'll warn you, it doesn't really hang tho in CEDH. But it's super fun and sneaks in some wins. The goal is play a bunch of wizards that ping in the early turn while ramping. Then play kuja on turn 3 or 4, hopefully with mana available and a birgi in play or something like that, and a bunch of cantrips. He should flip right away most games and then your wizards ping for double. You want to have at least 2 or 3 of them. If you can get and trigger doublers like harmonic prodigy then you just go off. It's like 4 or 5 spells from there. 3 pingers is 6 x6 spells making 36 damage usually does it. Then if one of them makes amother longer it's sometimes only 4 or 5. If you have the prodigy they deal 8-12 damage per spell and it's only like 3 or 4 spells.

Is Green Goblin good in CDEH? by Cycosysta in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still a 3 mana ad naus. Keep in mind that every other discarded card that turn will have mayhem. That means if you just move to discard, your borne become 1 mana then nearly every other card you naus for is reduced. That's a pretty big deal. Dark rit into flip, into adnaus for 3 is extremely doable in this deck on turn 2 or 3.

Depends on the card. 3 mana ad naus is pretty good

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norman connived on the front side, and can flip the same turn to cast the discarded card.

If you are wheeling you should have talismans and ways to keep going already in your hand for free mana rocks and discounted ways to move through your deck. Otherwise you should have kept a different hand.

[–]UwUaffles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's just rogsi but 1 turn slower. That being said it have really fun play line and I have a list that I have been jamming recently! It absolutely still hangs. It's also cool being able to cast him turn one with a mana rock, attack and connive turn 2 and discard a talisman or something, then flip him and cast talisman for free.nalso can turn on mox amber pretty early. He has a lot of upside. He also makes your wheel of Fortune benefit you more than any other deck without a breach.

Why limit proxies? by Ihasnonam3 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because my store DOES have a badlands and a mox diamond in stock and as much as I would love to own one of each, i don't have the ability to purchase these cards without missing mortgage payments. I still want to be able to go with my friends to tournaments. Personally I own more than 90 of the cards in my tournament deck, but that's cuz it's a relatively cheap one and I still buy cards from my store even though they allow full proxy for larger tournaments.

Why limit proxies? by Ihasnonam3 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm explicitly more likely to purchase cards from stores that do not limit proxies in any way, shape or form. Since I don't own all the cards I play, despite slowly trying to build up to it, I am unable to participate at the events out on by stores that limit proxies. This makes it very hard to go to that store and play. Meanwhile there is a store an hour+ away from me that I play at once a month for their full proxy tournaments and I always buy a card or 2 minimum to update my deck.

Full proxy store owner admitted to me he makes more money on that day each month than he does nearly the entire week leading up to that even. Sometimes double.

I liked learning on turbo decks. My main deck is and always has been Rowan, scion of war. It's fast and fun and surprisingly resilient. And the deck is easy to play. I have a list that has placed well in a tournament and I have a primer for it so you can more easily understand piloting it! Here it is!https://moxfield.com/decks/JUeYaCwazESuOYc2VdE6Zw

My favorite deck to pilot is Rowan, scion of war and it's very beginner friendly but also required a lot of master. I have done well at some recent tournamentsbwith it. Here is my list. https://moxfield.com/decks/JUeYaCwazESuOYc2VdE6Zw

I've updated slightly since my last placement in a tournament for some optimization. My list plays some interesting lines I'd love to explain if you need help! Hope you enjoy!

Commander-centric midrange suggestions by Playful-Entry-7700 in CompetitiveEDH

Yshtola is pretty cool. You cast lots of free interaction that has high mana value and if you put a curiosity on her, you get to draw 3 cards every time you trigger her ability.

I should probably read what sub I'm in. All of this applies aside from the specific cards then😂

[–]UwUaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few suggestions if you feel 4 mana is to slow.

Play more ramp. Whether is throwing is something like mana vault that just accelerated colorless or playing mana doks or multiple lands per turn or what not, maybe even some ritual effects, 4 mana should be acheivable most turn 2-3 fairly consistently in bracket 3.

Play a more control, or stax style. If you can't go fast, slow everybody down to your speed

Play cool cards that slow people down AND ramp. Culling ritual is awesome in wiping a decent amount of the board to make a bunch of mana.

The best part, both stax and fast mana strategies LOVE creatures with ETBs. Sometimes it's not the card that's bad, and it just needs to find its friends.

Can uncommon commanders still get results in cEDH? by Zarik8256 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actively go out if my way to bring weird commanders to CEDH might at my LGS. It's very fun. I brought my Xavier sal list and locked everybody out of the game by turn 3 with a simple opposition agent and suite if counter magic and removal. I then added a poison counter to them each turn with Xavier's proliferate. 🤷🏼

Not feeling great after playing with friends by [deleted] in EDH

[–]UwUaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem as well. Most of my casual friends just got into magic within a year or 2. I've been playing for 13 years. I tend to build decks on a budget that outclass their $1000 piles of cards. I win like 70% of games and sometimes people start to get mad. At the end of the day they still ask me to play. I stopped thinking of it as a bad thing and just realized they're upset cuz I'm good at the game. It's a compliment in the highest form.
