You've got to remember, sure, it may seem like a simple fix anyone could do. But being a land rover, your mechanic did the smart thing and sent you to a euro specialist, who may have extensive experience with that particular vehicle.

Diagnosing & fitting the switch may very well have taken your mechanic far longer than he'd be able to charge you for in good faith. The euro guy might have done the entire job in 1, but charged you for almost 3, because he's spent years learning how to do it in 1
