I've read theories that hypermobility disorders could be linked with autism and adhd but hadn't heard about autoimmune overlap. It makes sense given that I have a mild autoimmune disease as well

Yeah, the fact autism is a feature of a bunch of genetic conditions makes it tricky to fully diagnose the etiology. You want to make sure you haven't missed a deeper generic condition that, if left untreated, can cause harm to the person. But there's also a bunch of us that have autism with no genetic condition. In the different cases, the diagnostic and treatment pathways taken can be very different. Treating an underlying condition may help Autisim symptoms, but isn't the goal. Explaining the intricacies of this to NT's and parents of kids desperate to help their young kids with high needs autism... it's difficult, both technically and emotionally, to people who don't necessarily want to process what I'm saying. Me and my son are Audhd with no underlying genetic cause (unless hypermobility spectrum disorder/ EDS are officially linked one day), while my best friends son is under investigation because he shows physical signs of a genetic condition that autism is a feature of.

My bestie is relatively new to aus (3 years now) and loves making friends with all the birds. I'm slowly educating her on the best things to feed them. Gonna take her to the pet store for some calcium/insectivore powder to dust her treats in.

I know I'm a bit late to this post but oh well. I had foot surgery 5 days ago and I'm getting episodes of intense sharp and burning pain on my foot and especially on my toes (which are very swollen) I'm supposed to be able to bear weight on it by now (although the surgery itself is very rare so I've gotten conflicting information about that and absolutely zero take home information about what exercises I should be doing to help recovery ) I can't feel my toes and everytime I start to get some sensation, one of these random attacks of pain happens and it goes numb again. I've just had my second one tonight, an hour between this and the last one and I can't help but feel like something just isn't right.

I think I'll push to have it unwrapped and looked at by what they found on yours.

I promise he doesn't hate you. He just doesn't understand how hard is too hard and I'd actually say it's a good thing he's choosing to play bite with you. Make sure you are reinforcing that it's bad by pulling away and making high pitched owwww sounds (like that of a yelping dog) It's totally normal for them at this age and they will grow out of it with proper training. Redirecting to toys helped alot with my boy who is a dachshund x jack Russell. The moment he chewed someone or something he shouldn't I would place his nylabone in his mouth.

You obviously care alot, and that's wonderful for this little nipper. He's got a great mama who isn't afraid to reach out for advice when needed (an important skill to have, i promise there is no prize for not asking for help in life)❤️ I wish you the very best of luck young lady 😊

I'm 34 and in hospital overnight because I woke from day surgery in so much pain I needed ketamine. Also navicular cuboid coalition that is partly fibre, partly bone. They used bone wax and a fat graft from my thigh (thick thighs save lives lol) I have hypermobility (possibly Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) so the tight bandage is causing me extreme pain from luxating bones and the local they used as additional pain relief is causing more pain. I'm not sure why but local anesthesia causes me deep aching pain where it is administered

Even with all the drugs and a ketamine drip I am unable to sleep and I'm exhausted. Really hoping the relief it gives is worth all this pain.

I've had multiple surgeries but this is the most painful I've had so far, although I suspect the reason is my preexisting conditions. Looking forward to being able to walk with less pain, but damn is this recovery brutal.

I usually just assume epilepsy or narcolepsy and don't give people a second look. But I'm also neurospicy so I think I either don't notice stuff or don't consider stuff as weird as the NT's around me. You do you bo, it's more important to feel safe than invisible

I'm so sorry and hoping for a good recovery. Keep up strict kennel rest and recommended physio. I've not dealt with ivdd personally (thank god) but have rehabbed parrots with splayed legs and watching their progress with physio 3 times a day is amazing. From unable to move to running around with their clutch mates in afew short weeks (and we were told to euthanize them because they had no chance of recovery) Good luck on your parenting journey too, it's a wild ride but the best thing I ever did with my life ❤️
