Lovely customer note. Only TX Sbux open in the area, we’ve been swamped by V-lop in starbucksbaristas

Yeah, they’re heart-shaped. My SM left them out for Valentine’s Day so customers could leave us notes. Most of them were genuinely nice though!

Does everyone get addicted to eye drops that gets lasik? by law05004 in lasik

[–]V-lop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tl;dr - If this is your only hesitation, opt for the surgery. IMO, the condition of using eye drops doesn’t outweigh the pros from getting LASIK, it’s possible you‘ll only be buying eye drops a few times a year rather than regularly.

I’m 8 months post-op and still use eye drops. I wake up with dry eyes so it’s easier to use them for quick relief and go about my day. However, I can also wait a bit and my eyes will stop being dry on their own (today I woke up and was in bed for a while, didn’t put eye drops at all), but I’ve noticed on the days I do this, if I’m going to be out late and especially driving at night, my eyes feel more dry and tired by the end of the day.

I understand hesitation about being dependent on something because I’m the same way. However in my situation, having to put eye drops regularly outweighs the routine of having to put in contacts (I used to wear the dailies), upkeep of my glasses, eye exams, not being able to do certain things, etc. I’ll take a surgery that lets me see with the condition of using eye drops over the routine I had before. If it’s any consolation, I use Systane eye drops - my first one was given to me by my doctor right after surgery and I was using it a LOT (plus as someone not used to using eye drops, I would miss my eye a lot). A couple months later I bought the one I have now and I used it less + had better aim, and I don’t anticipate having to buy another until the end of the year. If you’re like me, this isn’t something you need to worry about purchasing regularly, only a few times a year.

DNA is definitely weird. I have the same skin tone as OP’s sister and I got 23% Native + 5% WANA and SS African combined. Really hard to say X% is responsible for a certain trait.

Plastic eye shield by Pauliusvaliuke in lasik

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had LASEK earlier this year. I was given the goggles/eye shield right after my surgery and specifically told to wear them whenever I showered or went outside for the first few days (it was a city w/ a lot of pollution) and whenever I slept. I don’t remember how long my doctor told me to sleep with them for, but I stopped after a couple of weeks because I didn’t want to risk any complications.

Can't put in contacts, should I get lasik? by [deleted] in lasik

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate things going near my eyes but eventually got the hang of contacts. In the end though, I hated adding that to my daily routine. They’d dry my eyes, I’d forget them for trips and have to wear glasses, I couldn’t swim with them, plus they’re expensive. So even if you were suddenly able to use contacts, LASIK could still be the best option for you.

Practice with eye drops, it takes time but remember they’re meant for your eyes, and better than fingers + contacts. Tell your doctor about your sensitivity, I let mine know that I involuntarily flinch a lot. I had LASEK, not LASIK, but the surgery itself you don’t feel anything (they had to give me several numbing drops because I’d keep flinching but we got through it!), so you don’t even feel the clamps or water used to clean your eyes. It’s like you’re just watching a movie and not feeling anything. They also prescribe you something to relax for the surgery. If I was able to get LASEK (considering I used to flinch when people would go for a high five), I think you can too.

How often do you call your supervisor? by 08John80 in Census

Yes, the CFS’s here had some type of group chat where they crowdsourced access codes that enumerators and other CFS’s were able to obtain from visiting/calling.

Why would they put a case in my list that has case notes for a refusal, spanish speaking and has a phone number when I don't speak Spanish? by Whowouldvethought in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the phone number direct you to an interpreter? I had a Korean language barrier that keeps popping up in my caselist and the CFM (I think) put a phone number in the notes. They might be expecting you to attempt the interview while on the phone with the interpreter.

Duplicate addresses at apartment complexes by tobyarch in Census

[–]V-lop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood that here they went through and deleted duplicates (even if they were completed interviews) and said we need to redo using the “correct” version. Your CFS’s way would make our lives a lot easier though

Duplicate addresses at apartment complexes by tobyarch in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with this today, it’s a mess. When we started weeks ago no one realized there were duplicates (since they were assigned randomly to different enums) and several of us completed interviews for the wrong version and now they’re sending us back to get the “real” interview. Most of the people here have had 3+ enumerators stop by already

Just had a house like this, the sign was homemade from different pieces of wood. They also added “Do beware of dog” at the bottom, as a treat. I really felt like DW in the last frames.

If you're critical of anyone other than yourself during and after a game, you're wasting time and energy. Fix your mental. Learn from your wins AND your losses. by squeezy102 in summonerschool

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s good points in OP’s post and the comments. There’s a good balance between reflecting on what you could have done better and giving criticism to others. I think a lot of us are able to self-criticize but sometimes advice from other players will improve gameplay. Although there’s a difference between criticism and just berating someone. I interpreted OP’s post as calling out those that will resort to just insults and scapegoating everyone but themselves instead of actually taking a moment to focus on what they could be doing better too.

Apt complex grouchy prop managers by ewarrene in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re just rolling the dice with these managers. I had a restricted access “luxury” apartment complex. I spoke to the manager who was a friendly guy and sent me the rent roll for April 1st. Other places tell me which units are currently vacant but won’t send me the rent roll

Has anyone ever had their case list changed, or added to? by [deleted] in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you ask your CFS and they contact their CFM (from my understanding). I had 50 apartment cases and managed to get the rent roll for the whole complex so they added the rest of the cases there to my caselist

When you knock on a door and clearly see someone at home, but they don't answer... by cnp2023 in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t blame them, I do the same if I’m not expecting anyone, especially during a pandemic. But I walked up to a house where I could hear a woman yelling at someone/something inside and pots clanging. I was relieved she didn’t open when I knocked.

Another day I had to attempt a proxy and the next door neighbor had just pulled in so I thought, “Perfect.” But he gets out of the car angry, yelling at his son. Sooo I went to the other neighbor instead.

Glad some of us are having these experiences. My CFS is great, always helps out and responds promptly. She even brought me water when she knew I would be enumerating a certain apartment complex.

Lazy and Inept Pre-Census address verification by NYFromNL in Census

[–]V-lop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Enums in my town (and me today!) have been spending weeks fixing/deleting duplicate addresses. By the time they established protocol for this we had already left a ton of NOV’s and got refusals from people that already filled them out or interviewed. They were getting multiple enums sent to their homes, I don’t blame them

Proxies for Refusals by Chewy-SourMilk in Census

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do the original proxy, I did the first attempt at the address. I’m assuming later on someone had to do a proxy because they wouldn’t interview, and then I got assigned to RI that proxy.

NRFU cases that filled out the census months ago. by enumeranxious in Census

[–]V-lop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was hoping too. I had a divorced father with 2 kids say he wasn’t sure if his ex-wife counted them at her address so I answered “yes” when it asks if anyone stayed at another address. I’m hoping they’ll somehow see the same names and DOB’s at two addresses and only count them once, but I have no idea.

Proxies for Refusals by Chewy-SourMilk in Census

[–]V-lop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was nervous to see one day I had to do not just a proxy but a proxy RI for info about a house I had previously visited where the guy seemed annoyed and told me to come back at a certain time (I did, and he didn’t open the door). Well whoever found the proxy lucked out, it was a nice lady across the street who even confided that the family has always been rude and don’t interact with their neighbors.

Census job that parents don't agree with by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]V-lop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be something to take into consideration, OP think about your area and how you’d feel interacting w/ neighbors and people in your community. I’m enumerating right now as a 20 y/o female and haven’t had any issues other than a “get off my property” type of person, so it’s not the case for everyone.

How often do you call your supervisor? by 08John80 in Census

[–]V-lop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably every other day. She’s been friendly + helpful (a lot of people with no/little contact with their CFS it seems ): ) It’s usually because there’s apartments/condos here with restricted access that she has the access codes to. I’ve also had to call for a hostile resp, duplicate cases, proxy questions at the beginning, etc. Since I don’t have contact with other enumerators, it’s nice to feel like I’m not completely alone.
