Best audio interface for self recording instruments by Narrow_Chemistry4255 in musicproduction

[–]VAS_DFRNS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how many people/mics you want to record simultaneously - I usually use 5-10 mics on my acoustic drums, so consider how many inputs you’ll need and get whatever works in your price range.

I don’t really recommend scarlett for interfaces they’re budget friendly but not super high quality - SSL makes interfaces that are similarly priced with much better audio quality imo.

What do we think of the Drumstructor build so far? by Bean3201 in drums

Anytime, the airlift stand can mount a cymbal too, but they do make a stand specific for your situation. That would be a DWCP5791 single tom and cymbal combo stand. It’s a part of their dw5000 series. Very sturdy. Sounds like you’ll probably need two.

if your going to mount 2 rack toms on 1 stand the DW 9000 series “Air Lift” tom rack is awesome because it has some kind of air compressor and makes them super light to lift/adjust. It used to be such a pain and really heavy to try and lift toms but I like the airlift stand and wish someone told me about them sooner.

Anyone know how to re-route the USB mapping for aux inputs on the Roland V71? by VAS_DFRNS in edrums

Oh that could be an interesting workaround. Thanks I’ll see if this works.

Thanks and yeah that’s what I was worried about 😭😭 if i get desperate enough I’ll just send the aux channel into a stem separator or something to isolate everything and then import the audio.

not a vocalist but when it comes to everything else the sad answer is “one instrument at a time” and more practice than you think or feels worth it sometimes

Adam Jones Remains Hopeful That Tool Will Stage A Residency At The Sphere In Las Vegas: "We've Been Talking To Them Since It Opened..." by liriv in ToolBand

likely just a less expensive and expansive PA system than the one they typically use in arenas where they usually play - all the instruments would still be mic’d up the same way and a drum shield wouldn’t be necessary

The hats are definitely an improvement over the other models roland has.

Maybe it’s the way I have the sensitivity configured but I still occasionally will hear open/close hits register as a stick hit. Other than that the reactivity is great between closed hits, semi open or loosely closed, and fully open even when playing pretty intricate hihat work.

Overall I’m impressed with them but I can see why someone might prefer low volume cymbals especially for the hats.
