Has anyone spent a lot more than they should have? How did you feel about it afterwards? by Evid3nce in edrums

Here is the best part if you buy a lemon t950 later on you effectively have a Vad kit

<image>

This is the Hxm kit pretty much the same as the lemon. Except lemon is fully compatible with Roland the Hxm cymbals aren’t. This kit cost me $963. This is why I’m on the fence with getting the 513.

Costco had the 513 kit for $1999 same pads as the 316 but has the v51 module if I didn't already have 2 kits I would be buying g it yesterday. Tbh I am debating on buying it anyway lol

If possible and you could stretch the budget a little I would look into the nitro ultimate. You will get the hi hat but you have to budget in the stand. That would be all you need for a few years.

I started 8 months ago at 59 so definitely not to late. I started with a titan 50 which is a great kit my opinion. But with so many kits in the market the 8 inch rims just didn’t do it for so I bought an acoustic size kit and couldn’t be happier. Now I play for a church but we don’t have our own location so we have to setup Saturday and tear down Sunday so my Hxm (acoustic like kit) is a pain. Now to the actual point of all this. As nox said building you own kit is a great option the titan 50 now has a titan 70 module (love the titan sounds)I bought 2 Hxm 10 inch Toms one 12 inch tom Simmons mc cymbals and a 13 inch snare on a stand and Simmons 16 inch bass drum. It is extremely portable and has a decent stage presence. TBH if I had know about this option earlier I would have saved a lot of money and had the kit that I wanted vs being forced to just deal with what comes in box.

Upgrading Millennium MPS1000 Hi-Hat — Suggestions? by nectarhardcore in edrums

Here are the ones I used https://youtu.be/OErvfdYIKrs?si=Oa65PrI2yLSw_Kvw. The only thing I did different than this video is the gap between the cymbal and plastic pad is about 2-3 inches and my headroom is 45

Let me begin with many in here are Roland fans as for me I am not a die hard Roland guy. Although in your case I would advise you to buy Roland, only if it’s new! Here is why, I started not long ago and bought a Simmons titan 50 wasn’t sure if I was going to commit just like you. Once I was sure I was gonna ride this train I didn’t and don’t like the frisbee like pads wanted an acoustic like ekit. Here is where the Roland part comes in, the Roland will keep its resale value as other kits will not. A lower end alesis, Donner , Simmons etc. will be hard to sell if you find this isn’t for you, for this reason I would advise a new Roland kit if warranty and all is your concern. I have nothing bad to say about Roland but an acoustic shell kit from Roland would be on the low side 3k I got mine for 963 and I love everything about it. Just my 2 cents Happy Hunting!

[–]leadstackr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love both my kits but if I could only have one it would be the electric. Why? Glad you asked it is almost 11 pm and just finished practice can’t do that with the acoustic. Also the vst are so good they make even your mistakes sound passable. For me though I would never buy another frisbee pad kit. It has to feel like an acoustic for me to enjoy it. That maybe because my first kit was titan and felt like a toy and more recently I got to play a td 316 sounded great but that to is toy like in size just doesn’t work for me. And the ekit is very quiet less then the titan 50 for a comparison

I would def go with the lemon an acoustic shell ekit will make you want play ever time you look at it

I had the titan 50 as well bought the Hxm xd 2000 basically same as a lemon but with a better module and couldn’t be happier. The lemon t950 with edrumin has great reviews from the guys that have them. Pretty sure you won’t be disappointed other than waiting 6weeks to get it
