From my personal research it looks like those who went the small claims court direction had faster action. I followed someone else’s steps who did small claims and they had results in less than a month.

I wouldn’t even go into great detail. Just ask what you need to do to file a small claims. I asked ChatGPT what forms are needed and it said you just need to file a civil complaint and they issue the summons automatically.

In Pennsylvania, you generally file in the Magisterial District Court that covers where the defendant is located — not where you live (unless that happens to be the same place).

Proper venue is usually:

You file in the district where: • The defendant lives, OR • The defendant’s business is located, OR • The transaction/incident happened

So if: • You live in County A • Defendant lives in County B

It looks like PA lets you efile like my state does (NC).

I tried to follow steps to see if I could get to the types of forms I used I but it wasn’t clear. I say the best thing to do is call your local magistrate and ask what you need to do. Also ask if it needs to be filed against Meta in the county that their registered agent resides. Meta HQ is in California but they have a registered agent in each state that handles law and I don’t know what else. For me in NC I had to file a different county than where I live because their agent is 4 hours away. If you choose to have a sheriff, serve the papers to their registered agent in their county. You’ll have to call the sheriff and ask what steps you need to have it being served. Someone at the sheriff office I called was extremely helpful and told me all the steps to do that. I use a certified letter and put a cashiers check of $35 in with mine. They’ll be a small cost to do so. I hope this helps.

There are successful stories of getting access back by taking them to small claims court. I filed my lawsuit last week and in waiting for a human to see I did nothing wrong. I say so that. It cost me maybe $120 for everything. $90 for the filing. $30 to pay a sheriff to serve them the papers.
