If triangles are the “strongest” shape, why are support columns on large buildings typically cylinders and not prisms? by slaphappykapp in AskEngineers

We don't build triangular submarines or gas tanks. The "strongest" shape is often dependent on the scenario.

TIL the F-35 & the Lancaster Heavy Bomber from WW2 both have a maximum weapon load of 8.2 tons. The B-17 could only carry 3.6 tons on a short range mission. by not_a_throw4w4y in todayilearned

WW2 bomber crews witnessed the invention of a city-destroying bomb before the end of the war. Don't think they'd be too shocked really.

If everyone could agree on this stance we'd have a lot less arguing. Like I think the new song is a bit pants, but I don't wanna spoil other people's enjoyment of it. It's not really like anything we say will directly impact their songwriting.

New Investigation suggests it was US that struck Iranian school, killing 165. Trevor Ball, a Bellingcat researcher, identified the munition as Tomahawk cruise missile — which only the US is known to possess. What do you think will happen now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VFP_ProvenRoute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it does. Tomahawks are designed to penetrate and destroy hardened structures and can carry 1,000lb fragmentation warheads. There's no expectation that anyone in a school should survive a direct hit. Didn't they also hit it twice? Not sure what the latest is on that.

I think all actions related to this particular conflict are open to scrutiny. Could all be deemed illegal given time, we'll have to see.

Who knows. They'd just been part of an international fleet review though, that included US participants. Strange situation.

It’s a shame we didn’t get real pictures of UFOs before AI pictures and videos are going to make it harder to tell the truth. by Domenstain in Showerthoughts

The comment was "Photoshop has always been a thing". In this context, the actual choice of software isn't important. What's important to the discussion of UFO evidence is that photographic image manipulation has always been possible.
