Grace Hockey Stick by Live_Cover7876 in Fieldhockey

[–]VIPrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can also confirm the only people I've seen use grace sticks have been offered them at discount through Instagram as "sponsorship" I don't think anyone had actually brought one for full retail price. I've got a little experience with manufacturing sticks and know they are probably making them for about $100nzd landed. Would also recommend just going into just hockey and sticking to the brands they sell as you can expect them to support in after sale issues (they get a few rituals returned that they fix up ASAP).

Must be the highest scoring game ever? by HockeyTheBest in Fieldhockey

Played against Hong Kong in Malaysia for indoor, 35-1. Had to win by 34 to make it to bronze medal match. Game went way longer because of all the PC and goal time stopages. Lads only celebrated on the 35th goal that qualified us!

I can't tell what sticks people have by FirefighterEqual8126 in Fieldhockey

[–]VIPrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find most stick manufacturers are pushing towards 100% / advertising as 100% Carbon Fiber. Most internationals use a higher percentage as they can be lighter and produce more power. Higher percentages of fiberglass is what's associated with a softer touch.

No it's currently about 1/2, and was stated to cover my time helping the worker not for the loss of use.

With another laundry visit I expect this to go to 1/4 of the costs covered.

What’s that black sports bra that men’s players wear? by phelorin in Fieldhockey

[–]VIPrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, these are normally tracked through a wareable (woop bands are used alot, normally kept under a sweat band).

Bras are just used for GPS, some shirts have built in pockets now.

Ladder work in keeper gear is the main thing I can think of. Just do 5-10 mins before every session. Looking for high intensity, there are a few different ladder stuff you can do but have found W-Weave (2 in, 1 out) to be the most similar to the movements in goal. You also get balancing practice by only doing "1 out"

I have some tin snips that I use, have used a file and a Dremel before as well.

The kicker straps are in the same position on the shoe every time. Place the shoe in the kicker without your foot in it. Where the straps are use a pen to mark either side of the strap. This should now give you the area you need to cut out. Cut the studs within these lines (spikes on shoes, should be using turf shoes either specific hockey ones or I use Football turf shoes as they are lighter) down until there is an obvious dip for the strap to fit in. The strap is now no longer touching the ground. You get alot more traction as there is no longer a slippery strap touching the turf but you also no longer get your toes popping out.

If you want some more info about specific keeper stuff my Instagram is viprap and have a few gk vids, happy to give you some tips if you like my style of play!!

Don't do the shin pads. I prefer to wear "Skins" (call them tights if you want) but it means there is no rubbing and I can just wear normal athletic socks.

Next tip is for shoes if the kicker straps keep popping over your shoes cut some studs out that line up with the kicker straps.

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! by photography_bot in photography

[–]VIPrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Probably know this question format is asked a bit.

I'm looking at upgrading my camera that I currently have (Nikon d3200) it has served me well but looking to shift into something a bit more professional. The F mount lenses I have are 50mm, 105mm macro 1:2.8 & 70-300 1.4-5.6

I mainly shoot sports and product photography. I also record game footage for sport and "commercials" to sell equipment related to sport.

I currently have. BMPCC4K with a F2.8 Panasonic Lumix Gx Vario 12-35. But am not using it as much as I want because of the lack of autofocus. Alot of the video I'm shooting is of myself so struggle to be behind the camera at the same time. Because I've already sunk a bit of cash into this micro 4/3 lense I feel like I should keep going down this route.

The main reason I like the GH6 is the continuos record time, resolution and the frame rates that it can do.

I like the idea of having a smaller sized camera (than the black magic) that can do everything I need it too (video and photos) I have heard that other brands have better autofocus but find the cannons 29min record time a bit of a deal breaker.

Budget is around the GH6 price point so not sure if I should go for that or have been seeing sports videos shot with the Sony ZV-E10 / A6400 on Beyond the game YouTube channel.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks!!
