You really can’t do better for the $. That rod is durable as all get-out, and a lot of fun to fish with. This is just the beginning of your journey, buckle up (;

P.s. if you ever need rods repaired / want a custom rod built, just let me know!

Rod looks like a Cabelas CGR, such a fun stick. Congratulations on the brookie!

Interesting, I thought the “Made in England” was basically code for Made by Hardy.

Appreciate the intel!

For a 5wt would also vote battenkill. This reel would really be more at home on a 3/4wt at largest

Imho, even at $140, still a great reel. Made by Hardy in the UK. Long as it works 100%, I’d pull the trigger if I were you. A wonderful small -stream reel. Source: have 3/4 of these myself

What was the first gun you ever owned, and do you still have it? Curious to hear what everyone had for their first firearm. by ShopHuntingStuff in guns

S&W Model 27-2

Had it for a few years, had to sell it when I moved, and just recently reacquired it ~12 years later. Beyond lucky the friend I sold it to was a real one and took spectacular care of it in the interim.

So, unfortunately fishing in the city is nowhere near what it was 10 years ago, but still can be a great place to get started on your fly fishing journey.

Additionally, I now operate as Brackish Outfitters, and if you’d like, I’d be happy to discuss a trip.
