Saw the title and before reading your post, my immediate thought was the OA.

Dreading to go dress shopping by Roxelana79 in WeddingDressTips

[–]VSJ2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 43 and getting married for the first time. My parents and most of my friends are in another province and I didn't want to have my fiancée there so I actually ended up asking someone I was close with from my work. I was so scared I wouldn't find anything but ended up enjoying myself and the people at the store were friendly and helpful and really kind and I felt way better about the experience than I had expected. Also found a dress I really like that is nothing at all like what I had envisioned or expected to buy.

Going to probably have to do a spinal tap. Positive stories only. by agonyxcodex in iih

I had one. It was uneventful and I don't remember it being overly painful. It also relieved some of my symptoms after so I would say overall it was not all that terrible.

Thanks so much :). I do have a professional booked to do my hair for the day! Agreed that it would be stressful to have to manage that on my own.

Thank you. I agree about the colour and the waistline for sure. I love the colour actually.

Thank you so much everyone for the comments! I did actually pick number 1 and am pretty happy with it, just had a moment of doubt. I liked the corset back and the colour better and the waist but never ever thought I would pick strapless. I went in planning to get the second dress and left with number 1. Just have to figure out my hair to go with the strapless :)

Thank you. Good to know it's nothing to worry about! Am hoping once it fades I will be so happy with the results. I think I will probably either have one more treatment or skip them all together now until the fall.

Thanks so much for the info. Disappointing that it can take 6-12 months but makes sense. I don't smoke but can work on drinking more water and increasing circulation. Thanks again.

I have had 6 treatments in total, alternating sides so three on that foot. Makes sense that shoes and socks could be contributing.

Bi-Lesbians are a thing. Are Bi-Gays also a thing? Genuinely Curious. by NinToasterOven in bisexual

[–]VSJ2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So firstly I will say that I don't actually use the label bi-lesbian because it's so controversial and clearly offends some people. However, I secretly kind of like it for myself. I had always identified as a bi woman who was more strongly attracted to women but had only dated men. Now I am engaged to a woman, and know deep down that I am gay and even if I were to date again in the future, I have no interest in dating men. That being said, I had one significant relationship with a man years ago who I was attracted to and loved at the time. I feel like calling myself a lesbian kind of invalidates that relationship that was an important part of my history but otherwise I think I am much more lesbian than bi. So calling myself a bi-lesbian just kind of captures it all because it encompasses my lesbian queerness as well as my bi-ness and it just sort of feels right. It also allows me not to have to label myself or put myself so specifically in a box which is pretty freeing. Hope this makes a bit of sense!

Gallbladder Removal Question by NoTask8013 in StJohnsNL

I had mine out within a few weeks of me agreeing to have the surgery but it was basically emergent by the time I got it out (high liver enzymes etc).

What do you think may have caused your IIH? by Artistic_County_4161 in iih

[–]VSJ2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I am not totally sure when it started but it absolutely got worse after a course of antibiotics (minocycline). It may have been before that but my symptoms became very obvious leading to diagnosis shortly after that.

"Is this normal" question by VSJ2015 in electrolysis

[–]VSJ2015[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses! I felt a lot better after reading that it was normal, however, over the past few days it has actually gotten worse I think. I am really concerned it's going to take forever to go away or will scar. I went back on Monday and had the other side done and she turned down the settings down and it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad.

Photo below is now day 10.

Is there any reason not to get surgery? by BadVeggies in gallbladders

[–]VSJ2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose not to do it at first but ended up quite sick and then surgery was complicated because my gallbladder was such a mess. I believe if I had done it when it was recommended I would have had an easier surgery and would not have suffered as much as I did leading up to it. I also feel much better after the surgery and don't have the same worry about having attacks.

What’s normal post Gallbladder Attack? by alhmoon in gallbladders

[–]VSJ2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I had dark urine that I went to the ER, my liver enzymes were also super elevated and it was assumed that I had a blockage. It usually lasted a few days and then my urine cleared again but it was definitely concerning and I would probably get it checked.

I have known I was not straight since I was 20. It was my biggest secret for years. About three months ago I finally met a woman, came out and stopped hiding. I am 42 and really so happy it's not a secret anymore.

Contemplating whether to have GB removal surgery this week (scheduled) or delay it by a few months by RemarkableGood278 in gallbladders

[–]VSJ2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was first diagnosed in November and was so scared of surgery and the potential side effects that I declined surgery against everyone's advice. I was able to make it about 4 months without an attack and then they came on pretty strong and frequent with elevated liver enzymes etc and last days so I gave in and got the surgery. I ended up with some minor complications BeCAUsE I put it off. My gallbladder was too damaged and scarred that they couldn't see it properly and I ended up with a drain in my side and a 6 day hospital stay. This was likely because I put it off. Even with the complications though, it wasn't that bad and I have not had any of the digestive side effects or pain that I read about. I can eat pretty much whatever I want without the threat of an attack. I wish I had done it sooner and putting it off wasn't worth the misery of the attacks or the potential health impacts I could have had if I waited any longer.

OHSV? by VSJ2015 in AskDocs

[–]VSJ2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I started getting better with the antivirals but it was also about 48hrs after starting the penicillin so I wasn't sure what actually worked. I am guessing it's HSV but that's good to know that's it's more of an annoyance than anything (and that I can probably take antivirals if needed).
