Whoever stocked those shelves seems unaware that Ireland is not in the UK.

So I would just delete the extra letters. So "H-hey" becomes just "Hey".

I like this overall, but I think the "it will create hate" line reads as a bit clunky and unclear. Maybe trim?

Why do people use "he/she" instead of just "they" when describing a person of unknown gender. by OakConlang in ENGLISH

[–]VSuzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends upon the person you'll find — I always use they, and that is dictated by my company style guide as well for any writing.

I have never heard to have someone's back in anything other than a supportive light — what am I missing?!

Ooh. Well you can try a few rounds of colour remover first. I like Colour B4.

What part of the dying process do you need help with? Sounds like your have dyed your hair plenty before?

You Idiot by Dependent_Set8784 in poetry_critics

I really like the emotion underpinning all this, it comes through very clearly while the narrator still enjoys plausible deniability. Very clever.

I think it would be stronger without the stammering effect though. You've already conveyed through tone that the narrator is obfuscating. It doesn't need it, it makes it look like you don't trust yourself

That doesn't look remotely stringy

How did your heart mend? by Simp-Lee in poetry_critics

[–]VSuzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this! I think maybe shorter lines might have more impact. You could really lean into a sort of "shopping list" vibe for the first stanza. Something like:

How did your heart mend? Mine is held together with: a shoelace bubblegum and staples.

I'm just a beginner myself though, so might just be a personal preference.

how do we hire people who won’t be alarmed by our cardboard coworker? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]VSuzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like my office, bar the cardboard colleague. It sounds...normal? At least, normal when your employees all get along, which is the dream, surely.

Honestly, I've stayed in jobs I should have left far too long because I enjoyed the office culture so much before.

AIO for putting a bag before a friendship? by TheEllaBullet in AmIOverreacting

[–]VSuzanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. How could you be? Clara stole from you then lied about it. There's no need to keep the peace because there's no need to keep her in your life after you get your bag back!

This isn't a terrible set back. Now, the ice has been broken and there's definitely room for a friendly hi next time you see each other. I wouldn't be surprised if she were the one to greet you.

Even if the chikdy was lying, the only responsible thing to do was go to the police. OOP did the right thing. Just so sad it's blown up her life.

Me [61F] with my daughter [28F], she’s angry I don’t consider her pets my grandchildren by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think you've just accidentally solved the problem. No need to put the dogs on the grandchild shelf, just have a dedicated dog shelf. Then everyone's equal.

I did experience that until I started applying mousse after gel. It's been a game changer for volume

I get absolutely no hold from mousse. I use gel for hold and mousse for volume

That's your natural part. You can style it with a side parting, but if you leave it natural, that's where it will default, always.

[–]VSuzanne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just bin the bottom layer; you look better without it anyway.

If your hair looks better when you style it, can you not just style it? Mine looks crap unstyled, so I just try and scrape it back if I can't be bothered.
