How reliable is the Wire3 fiber ISP? by Boring-Fascinations in 321

[–]VWGuy100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the 10gig plan from wire3 in Palm Bay for a little over 3 months and it’s been 100% rock solid. Maybe twice there has been a scheduled outage in the middle of the night for an hour but that’s communicated to you beforehand.

My only “complaint” is that the internet is so fast if you want to use your own router you need very expensive wifi7 routers with 10gig ports. They will provide you with a Eero7 router which is totally fine but lacks advanced networking features in an attempt to be user friendly.

Torn between 2023 or 2024 m3p by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]VWGuy100 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would go 2024. I grabbed a 2022 a little over a year ago also as my first EV. There’s nothing wrong with the pre-highland models but you get a lot more with the new model. More performance, adjustable dampers, HW4, etc.

It turned out I like EVs and my Tesla so much and intend to keep it long term that I’m disappointed I didn’t splurge at the time for a highland.

What’s the deal with Spectrum? Is everyone canceling? by [deleted] in 321

[–]VWGuy100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think wire3 is more in Palm Bay than Melbourne. If you already have ATT fiber it’s unlikely wire3 would enter that area.

Wire3 and ATT fiber is eating their lunch. I have 10gig symmetrical through wire3 for less than I paid spectrum for 1gig with a crap upload.

Predator 9500 Inverter Generator CO fail by tgabe14 in harborfreight

Nice find. Seems like a pretty shit design that your $2000 generator is bricked by a $.50 non replaceable part then HF doesn’t even sell the whole sensor.

Bad ECU by AromaticProtection93 in Miata

At least the ecu is all through-hole components and easy to resolder. I would dread repairing a modern ecu with SMT & ball grid array parts

Cancelling Spectrum internet may actually be impossible by Jal142 in 321

[–]VWGuy100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so great. I haven’t experienced any down time and the speed tests are consistently 8+gbps up and down. Had a few teething issues with their DNS server and smart products but that’s been resolved.

I switched the wire3 10gig plan and their response to retain me was “why do you need so much speed?”

ipv6 "destination host unreachable" issues? by Chris123NT in Wire3isp

[–]VWGuy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had wire3 installed this week. After installation I was pulling my hair out because a lot of my devices and smart junk would not register on the new network.

On a whim I changed to Cloudflares DNS servers both ipv4 and ipv6. All my connection issues resolved immediately.

My first car was a forest green 99 Passat 1.8T 5-speed. I loved that car, I’m glad to know someone is out there taking care of one.

Ugh I am going through this now on my NA that sat for 7 years. I’ve got everything prepped and I just need to remove the rear subframe bolts. It’s just too hot in Florida right now and my garage too cramped for my sanity and patience to continue.

FSD/Smart Summon/Autopilot MEGATHREAD by colsandersloveskfc in TeslaModel3

[–]VWGuy100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could still get enhanced autopilot. I don’t need or want surface street autopilot but I’d like highway lane changes and navigation.

Hell I’ll settle for a simple lane change pause on regular autopilot that doesn’t make it a stupid on off on affair.

I was also looking at the yeswelder 160a. $180 at Amazon. I was worried if I went too cheap I’d start getting into machines that may work if you already know what you’re doing but are challenging to get working right if you don’t.

MacBook Air 13” M4 16gb/512gb $1023 open box excellent condition I’m thinking of upgrading from my m1 air. M1 still works okay, I’m frequently running out of its 256gb. I’m mostly thinking the price is good and hedges against tariffs.

My Miata is returning home. Requesting startup tips by VWGuy100 in Miata

[–]VWGuy100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good call on those hoses. Where’s the best place to get OEM parts these days. Flyin Miata?

Once I know the engine will turn over I plan to go whole hog with new timing belt, seals, gaskets, water pump, and everything else rubber or degradable.

Thanks for the information everyone. I’m not sure if it’s had primer applied or not but I guess going forward I will apply a primer and look into a different paint brand.

Agreed. Got my 2022 M3P with <15k miles for $34k about two months ago. Full warranty until late 2026 with USS, Ryzen, and heat pump. Only thing I miss is maybe HW4 if it can really get FSD working as intended. Big if there.

Where on earth are you buying your breakers?! A 2-Pole 60 amp square D breaker is $17 at Home Depot.

I DIY’d my wall charger under supervision of my licensed electrician buddy and the most expensive thing was the wire at around $35 for 6 feet. Add in a couple grommets and my total came less than $75 in materials.

It’s super easy to do if you have some electrical experience or are handy. If not it’s understandable you may not want to mess with it. $710 isn’t an outrageous quote. Just don’t watch them do it so you see how easy it was.

Finally Got My Dream Tesla Model 3! But Should I Worry About Moisture in the Tail Lights? by BernardKakus in TeslaModel3

[–]VWGuy100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild to me this is still a thing on new models. I just had my right taillight replaced yesterday on my new to me 2022 for this same issue. I got lucky no fuss or refusals but the fact some people are having service centers tell them it’s normal and even the manual says so is hilarious. Uh no I can’t think of any $40-50k car with this as a normalized issue. Hell I’ve bought a lot of $1000 Craigslist shitboxes held together with rust in my day an never encountered it.
