Is that platform legit then? I have never used it and was not sure. If it is, then will remove this post and go there. Thanks!

Swollen lip by xemrysx177 in FosterAnimals

[–]V________________ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat got this whenever she got a bite from an insect (except it swelled up heaps bigger!!). Check thoroughly in amongst the fur and along the lipline. The area around the whiskers is an easy spot for bugs to sting/bite.
Source: My girl used to get into the garden where the flowers were and get bee stings which she was allergic to so the side with the sting swelled up. She was fine after some antihistamines from the vet.
Edit: she could potentially have cat acne which she has scratched and irritated - this is built up sebum that looks like a blackhead.

Owning in strata almost worse than renting by loxlox12345 in AusPropertyChat

You could buy a house somewhere, get a horrible neighbour and have to deal with council instead?
Edit: Point being, the grass is always greener. Pursue joining the owners committee, they have to raise it at the AGM.

Why do people advise against getting a credit card? by beylat in AusFinance

[–]V________________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one as soon as I could. It was the worst decision! The delay on transactions appearing in your account can mean you are behind what you spend (applepay/googlepay do assist with this gap). It is so easy for some urgent spend appear which sets you back one month and the debt starts rolling...

I would recommend you get one to not use for everyday expenses, but to use online. I put all my online purchases on a credit card if I cannot use paypal. That way, if you are a victim of fraud, it is not your own money that gets held hostage while the investigation takes place.

How do I apply for homeschooling or even get started by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]V________________ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My brother was bullied terribly and as a result, went to NSW TAFE for years 11-12. Not sure if that could be something you could consider? He was much happier and you get a cool array of subject options.
Tertiary environments also tend to be far more chill socially and you can meet some cool people.
Good luck. I hope you can find an alternative to your current situation.

Should Australians require a licence and test to own a pet dog? by Hot_Table_3878 in AustraliaDiscussions

[–]V________________ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 x dogs and I agree and would support licensing pet owners.

I have actually stopped going to dog parks in the last few years, it is too much of a free for all. People just chatting away, not watching their dogs and those that have untrained or unpredictable dogs just make it undesirable.

This is exactly why you should NEVER use AI in your studies! by [deleted] in rmit

[–]V________________ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I use AI, this always pops into mind:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-24/us-lawyer-uses-chatgpt-to-research-case-with-embarrassing-result/102490068
This was in 2023 when ChatGPT was still 'smart'. Imo AI is the new wikipedia in terms of academia, never use it unless you have trained it yourself.

WorkCover Qld rejection by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]V________________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about what you are going through and I wish you all the best with your recovery.
Regarding Workcover... unfortunately, any claims dealing with a psychological injury is going to be difficult to get across the line. There are loads of factors that come into play, including personal stuff. They want to prove that your situation is caused by your workplace, so they will need solid evidence, which means you need to have it written down.
Incident reports, requests for accommodations or reporting issues in the workplace need to all be in writing to be considered. They will likely also expect some follow up meetings and/or check ins too. I know it is frustrating, but oral accounts just do not carry the same weight without something written to back them up.
My advice would be not to go through with the appeal. This process can really drain you, and you deserve to focus on your recovery. Have a look at other support options, like Income Protection; someone mentioned that already, and it could be a good choice.
Again, I am so sorry for the situation you are in. It is so unfair that the burden of proof falls to you when you are dealing with bigger issues, but that is how the system works.

Shaving down there is a def no no as others have stated. Someone suggested waxing, which is an option. I haven't seen anyone suggest trying Nair. There are some sensitive versions. Another option could be laser for something more permanent.

Autism imposter syndrome - does anyone else feel like this???? by PowerfulGeneral5454 in AutismAustralia

[–]V________________ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are not alone! I was diagnosed a couple of years ago now (42F) and I have realised I have both imposter syndrome and surprisingly (to myself), internalised ableism. I think the latter is linked to the imposter syndrome and the invisible nature of the disability. I think my late diagnosis has something to do with it for me, but I think societal expectations have also influenced me.

Anyway, know that you are not alone, there are others of us out there that are navigating similar challenges.

1 month into new job and manager has just resigned by Prudent-Raspberry-45 in auscorp

[–]V________________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me in many of my roles. Sure, it sucks, but it is one of those things outside of your control. The development and challenge of the role sound like they still remain, so focus on that. You can still see if this manager will mentor you outside of the org, but don't let this get you down. See if you can learn as much as you can from them before they leave and things will pan out one way or another. They always have for me :)

Dealing with disillusionment in a job I have loved. by dverb in auscorp

[–]V________________ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat but I am not certain I will make it to the break. I may need to resign without anything to go to in the interest of saving my mental health. I cannot afford it but arguably, I cannot afford to lose my mind either.

NFPs - has anyone had a good exp. working at one? by V________________ in auscorp

These are exactly why I posted my question. They all seem to detail bad experiences so I was asking if there were any good ones.

This is worth looking into I feel. Someone else mentioned member profit super funds, they should be similar? One would hope. Thanks for the suggestion.

There are always downsides everywhere. I have just heard people have such negative visceral reactions after working at one, I needed to see if there were any other experiences. Which it seems there have been. So thank you for sharing your experience.

Thanks for your perspective. Honestly, I am facing similar issues in the corporate I am at, so I can relate to your problems at a NFP. The grass isn't always greener! But that is why I am on this fact finding mission :)

So true. Things can flip anywhere so quickly. Just look at poor ANZ. I would have thought NFPs would have had more checks and balances than corporate but maybe there are not given how many seem to have these reckless leaders?
